Someone recommended a restaurant in this town for fish and chips, but it was already closed for the season so we stumbled upon this place across the street. It's a very laid back family style restaurant (and lodging) and it was cute to see the waitress addressing us as "yous" i.e. the plural of "you". I knew at that point that this place would serve good food. Their menu is quite simple - fried this and fried that - and I asked if they could make fish sans the mandatory thick greasy batter. Ofcourse, said the waitress, and she suggested a fish burger which would have fresh white fish caught earlier that day. Let's do that, we said, and sure enough the food was one the tastiest I fish and chips experience I had.

Quite a few bottled beers available, house red & white wine, and cocktails. There isn't much open in Killarney after tourist season ends, so we had dinner at the Pines Inn two nights in a row. The weather was great, so we spent the first night on the almost-full patio. The service was a bit slow, but apparently they were short staffed, and there wasn't any rush. We had deep fried mushroom caps for an appetizer (most apps were some variety of deep fried). It was a good-sized serving, and cooked well. My partner had a chicken ceasar wrap, and I had the philly cheesesteak on a flatbread. Both were quite good, and the server didn't try and push fries on us. We weren't planning on coming back the second night, but our first choice closed early. We arrived a bit later and decided to dine inside. The decor is very casual, with some local art, and dartboards on the walls. Having seen the pizza the night before, I had to order it, and I was not disappointed. The "Canadian" we ordered was packed with pepperoni, sausage, and bacon, with plenty of cheese and sauce. The crust could use some improvement, it was likely pre-made from frozen. Still, the rest more than made up for it. We had a ceasar salad as an appetizer, and it was more than enough for two people, well-dressed, with lots of bacon. I'll definitely return next time I visit Killarney.

She will attack you with her wagging tail and will expect nothing less than a good rub! Then you will greeted by the most wonderful inn keepers around. Dianne and Jeff are two extremely energetic and thoughtful individuals. They respect your privacy and are so welcoming into their home. Here comes the best part. The rooms! If you are there strictly to sleep, the upstairs have 2 rooms with ensuite bathrooms. There is a wrap around deck that overlooks Miller Lake. If you are like me though, you may want to spend some time in your vacation home... this is where the Moondance suite will come into play. Its in the lower level and comes complete with a living room, wood stove, bar, bathroom with Sauna (safari inspired!) and then the best part, a private hot tub that over looks the sunset over miller lake! There is also a BBQ to cook a delicious meal on. You will wake up in the morning to the smell of amazing homemade muffins / baked goods baking in the oven. Dianne will then shower you with some of the best breakfast cooking ever. She makes a mean Eggs Benedict, a delicious Pancakes with a Banana and walnut glaze, and a fabulous Frittata. You will never leave with an empty stomach. One last thing I should mention.. the soap is made from goats milk (www.theudderfarm.com) which leaves your skin so soft and the bed sheets are so comfortable, its like taking a nap on cloud 8. The price is right and Tobermory is a cool vacation destination.. so head on over to Cloud 8 and be sure to say hi to Dianne and Jeff for me!

I stayed in the Atalya room. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean. The bed and sheets were soft. I found the pillow to be a little too thick for my liking, but you can always ask Nick and Neda if you need anything different. The bathroom was huge and bright. The room has a flat screen TV, but I didn't use it. The window has a view of the garden, but it also has a view of Highway 6. At night, the room sometimes fills with light from cars turning off the highway. There is wifi available, but it's quite slow. There is a fairly large common living room where guests can use to get to know each other. You can often find Nick and Neda here in the evenings. They're very sociable and young at heart. It was fun getting to know them and their background. The foyer has a refrigerator where you can store your food items. There is also a water cooler and a coffee machine available for use. Neda uses Pinterest for inspiration for her breakfasts. She prepares the food the night before and cooks it in the morning. The breakfasts are IG-ready and are tasty and filling. Nick and Neda will talk to you while you're having breakfast and provide recommendations for what to do in the area. Neda also does photography, so you can look at her photos for inspiration. Nick and Neda do their best to keep everyone safe with masks and hand sanitizer available in the foyer. They maintain their physical distance. Overall, I had a great time at Orange Bicycle B&B. I'm looking forward to coming back.

I was wrong on both fronts. Nick and Neda certainly go above and beyond for their guests. Breakfast was served every morning at 8:30am. They were very helpful offering suggestions for daily activities and even picked us up after a 4hr hike from Little Cove Rd to the Grotto at Bruce Peninsula National Park. The bedroom and private bathroom are recently renovated. The shared living space is very comfortable and excellent for reading. If you're still on the fence. The morning coffee made with imported Italian beans and the bakery next door serving sandwiches and fresh baked goods should put it over the top.

I chose Innisfree for our first trip to Tobermory years ago, and I won't be changing that choice…read moreanytime soon. You get the best of most worlds here. The 5-room bed and breakfast is located on the main strip in town. Most other places are motels and hotels that have nothing on offering a cozy place like home away from home, but where you're not making your bed and cooking your breakfast. Speaking of that breakfast, you get a full selection of fruits, cereals, yogurt, granola, toast, baked goods from bagels to muffins to croissants, and heartier items like hard cooked eggs, cheese, ham/cold cut meats, and with the new ownership for the last 2 years, bacon, sausages, and heated items like spanakopita style puff pastry with feta and spinach, fried potatoes, and even spring rolls. Best of all, you eat it in a beautiful 3 table dining area with the most fabulous view of the bay and boats in a front room glassed in like a sun room. If you choose one of the 2 front rooms that have direct access to the shared balcony, you wake up to a second story view of the bay with a slide of your door to sit on the balcony and watch the sun rise over Little Tub harbour. You will have to share the bathroom with the other of those 2 rooms, but it's a fair enough trade-off to get dibs on that balcony every morning. If you choose one of the other 2 rooms at the back of the house, you get your own ensuite bathroom. If you do have to use the shared bathroom, the silver lining is the skylight in that one. If you have to settle for it, there's a fifth bedroom on the main floor, which also has its own bathroom, but is off the kitchen. This settling for is of course relative to the other 4 rooms as those have their special perks. Guests have use of a large and comfy living room, which does have a television, although I've seen it used only once in all the years we've stayed. There's a selection of books to read and board/table games to play. There's a small guest fridge to store a few drinks. There are guest slippers to use on your way in, and a cold water dispenser to fill up your bottles on your way out. When you're done for the day, you can brew a tea bag or instant coffee, and use the mugs and glasses provided. Stay includes your usual bath linens, robes, and Wi-Fi. Not so usual on top of that, Peter your friendly host will meet you and greet you, and give you the skinny on the season's goods. Thank you Peter for another wonderful stay. We'll be back again.
