Hi ....I had the great pleasure of having my hair styled by Rhonda in Hessions Clontarf yesterday …read more She is without doubt one of the best hairstylist I have ever been to. I got exactly what I asked for which is a very rare occurrence. I knew before she even dried my hair that it was a great cut .It's a lovely salon with very welcoming staff.......I will definitely be back. Thank you so much Rhonda ....I hardly recognised myself this morning when I looked in the mirror.......well the hair anyway lol......

My hair felt like elastic/straw after and was breaking even with a gentle brush. They did give me a refund and a new appointment for the disaster to be salvaged. Upon return, they had to strip all the colour out. This further destroyed the condition of my hair - which had been perfect before my visit. The stylists left me sitting in the hair-washing station for an hour as they had squeezed me in due to it not being an original appointment. I had to take a day off work for them to fix the mess they created and they treated me with disgusting neglect and rudeness with no uttering of an apology. If you value your hair, stay away from this place which obviously hires hair dressers off the street yet charges high-end prices.

I knew the place is a bit upscale, so upon entering I already had expectations of what my service and the final product was going to be like. The staff was great, I actually had a few people working on me as my stylist attended to other customers at certain stages of my colour and cut. Everyone was friendly and hospitable, but it wasn't over the top. About 2.5 hours later, I had a new do, a fresh colour and was very happy with my service and my results. Go to the till to pay with my gift card and the cashier tells me that their credit card machine has not been working all day and that I'd need to pay for the service in cash. She pointed me to a bank machine so I could take out some cash to pay for the service. I was not only upset but frustrated. You check in with reception when you come in and pay at the same counter. You'd think they'd have a sign up saying that it was cash only due to credit card issues or warn you before your service, as I'm sure I'm was not the only one redeeming a gift card. Walked out 255 euro down, that I was not intending to spend, and still have a gift card for 200 euro. Talk about a great service being ruined in 30 seconds.

The staff was very attentive and friendly, had a nice scalp massage during my shampoo, was offered beverages at several occassions, although my stylist was a bit blunt and cut a few inches more off than we discussed (cutters do like to cut) and didn't style my hair the way I would usually wear it I liked it. I walked out with a chic new style, and the best fringe I have ever had in my life that no one has been able to replicate. 55yoyos for a haircut... worth it.

Both were with Paul (who co-owns the shop with his brother, hence the name), and both times I left very happy with his work. The building is cosy and convenient to get to, with comfortable seating if you have to wait & a fair few magazines to peruse if you left your reading materials at home. They have complimentary drinks while you're getting your hair done as well (today I opted for a coffee, served in a mini-cafetierre with a couple chocolates on the side). Also comfortable? The back massagers on the seats where they shampoo your hair. Aw yes. The staff are warm and lovely, and Paul is that reassuring blend of knowledgeable, skilled, and charming (I somehow feel more sophisticated than I actually am when I'm there?). On the wedding day, they even let me use their upstairs room to change & do my make-up before dashing off to the big event, which was a level of niceness I appreciated. Definitely book in advance. Definitely go here for a splurge. Definitely go.

Then the day before I got a call saying they could no longer take me in wicklow St but offered an apt in Grand Canal dock which was inconvenient but I accepted as I was really stuck. At 7.30am on the morning of the apt I got another text message cancelling the apt with no alternative offered. At that stage I had my shower without washing my hair and had my makeup on. Office party day and hair in a state. All I wanted was a blow dry! Luckily Peter Marks came to the rescue with a 9am apt. Don't ever book Dry & Fly!!!

I won a competition to get hair extensions applied in Dry & Fly and from the moment I headed to my consultation it was a disaster. The lady at my consultation hadn't a clue about the competition, knew nothing about the voucher, made no attempt to find out about it but matched me up anyway. That was fine I left that day on a low but was excited to get it sorted and get my extensions fitted. Finally the day arrived and I'm in the chair about to get my hair, the colour of the extensions was wrong, there wasn't enough extensions to cover my whole head so the lady had to go into the back and find some different coloured extensions to try finish the job. I knew the colour was a bit off but I didn't realise how bad it was until I got home and washed it. The colour wasn't anywhere near the same as my hair, the stylist threw a few random brown pieces in, the cut was uneven. When I contacted the salon I was informed my hair was "too short for extensions" and that I wasn't styling them properly. My hair still a year later is thin and raggedy from being chopped into by the stylist to try cover for the fact she hadn't enough extensions. I should have pushed back harder at the time but because it was a competition I felt I had no right. I paid for them to be removed in a different salon and foolishly let the whole incident sit which I wish I hadn't of done as this was a total mess. It knocked my confidence and something that should have been a great experience in a top salon has ended up costing me a lot to try and get my hair back to normal after a year.
