Guest services seemed non-existent as I stepped into a room labeled "guest services" with only one person in there and chairs lined up against wall; nothing formal as I've seen in other larger churches. Overall it looks like a nice church but just didn't feel right for me. If you are reading this then you are probably looking for a church to fit in and you know how difficult that can be. The senior Pastor is so warm and genuine,he always breaks the word down in a way it relates to today society. He is very witty and funny,make NO MISTAKE.... He knows his BIBLE. There is also a younger Pastor who is also a triple threat Preacher, musician and vocalist, but by no means think that when he steps to that podium you're going to be short changed the word. He knows God's word also. Many Sundays when I leave service after he preaches my spirit is so overwhelmed with joy ,I can't do anything but praise my God. The young Pastor's wife is the praise and worship leader and she sounds like an angel and the Praise and worship team can really usher the Holy Spirit in. This congregation is multicultural,all nationalities are represented and welcomed. I was a little apprehensive when I first started attending and my wife said something I will never forget,she said this is how Heaven will be all nationalities worshipping together. SolidRock has two services a 9am and an11:00am. Whichever service you choose KNOW THAT You WILL BE BLESSED. Come as you are And be Blessed.

I…read morewasn't feeling so hot so I didn't end up staying very long, but I stayed long enough to garner a positive impression of this kindhearted Episcopal congregation. Built in 1903, this chapel served for years as a mission church of a larger Episcopal congregation, St. Andrew's, in the nearby town of Walden. Until the past year, when the chapel became its own independent congregation, it operated under the name "St. Andrew's Chapel." They changed their name to honor St. Francis of Assisi when they became a congregation in their own right, although the attached church hall still retains the St. Andrew's name. St. Francis of Assisi hosts one Sunday service - at 9 a.m. - and since I was up at that hour and in the neighborhood, I swung by for a visit. I'd always been curious about the diminutive green chapel in the heart of Montgomery and was glad to have an opportunity to see what they were all about. Upon opening the front door, I found myself in a very small vestibule facing the door to the actual church itself. The door was of dark wood and had a palm frond hanging on the front. This door was pretty solid and I couldn't hear anything that was going on in terms of the service, and I must admit that I was fairly nervous as I turned the doorknob and entered the church. Had I missed the service? Would I be disturbing the congregation? The church itself was extremely small, brightly lit, charming, and, as I quickly discovered, very welcoming. Counting myself, the priest and the girl who was acting as the altar server, there were only 15 people in attendance at the Sunday service. It was definitely an older congregation - I'm estimating that the altar server and I were the youngest people there by about 15 years - but they seemed to be a warm little group of people. Since I wasn't feeling so great and didn't know whether or not I would need to make an early exit - which, unfortunately, I did - I stood in the back so as not to disturb anyone. However, two people made it known that I was more than welcome to sit down. A nice member of the congregation, whose name I believe was Joe, introduced himself and presented me with a welcome booklet that gave some information about the church, which was very much appreciated. What I witnessed of St. Francis of Assisi's Palm Sunday service was quaint and lovely. The priest, Rev. Jan Nunley, radiates warmth and has an obvious affection for her small congregation, which they appear to return. The order of the service was similar to other Episcopal services I have attended, and when it came time to give the sign of peace, Rev. Nunley was right out in the aisle shaking hands and greeting everyone. Music during the service was provided by an organist and a congregant who played the flute. Whoever said simple was bland and boring wasn't paying attention. St. Francis of Assisi isn't a grand chapel, but those who like quiet havens of repose will appreciate the chapel's pretty windows, such as the one that depicts St. Francis preaching to the birds, as well as the modest altar. I wish I could have stayed for an entire service, but the next time I'm in the area I might stop by again. A Christian prayer attributed to St. Francis asks the Lord to "make us instruments of peace." What with the nice welcome I received and the warmth that appears to bind together the people who worship within its walls, it seems that St. Francis of Assisi Church is succeeding in doing just that.

I relocated out of state and had to leave New Harvest which had been my home church for about 6 years. I love this congregation of believers. I loved them under Pastor Ralph's leadership and I love them even more under Pastor John's leadership. They are as authentic as believers can be. They aren't perfect; they are a collection of battle scarred humans reaching out to God saying please make us more like Jesus and help us to do His will. If I had a regret, I would say it was not asking for help when I needed it and not taking advantage of the strength of the sisterhood there. Still God's timing is perfect. Before I could drown in my silence, He sent spiritually gifted and mature women to gently and kindly interrupt and invade my situation, until I could accept the help and healing I needed. If you go to this church, don't stay invisible. Don't stay silent. Get involved, definitely go to the bible study! I have never experienced the love in that church/body of believers, anywhere else, and I have been a church goer for a couple of decades and many relocations. I think that so much growth can happen there because of the love that connects the followers of Jesus. Hearts still break, bones still break, loved ones still die, but they hold each other up and walk through the difficulties of life together. If you go to criticize, you'll find many things to be critical about. If you go humbly and thirstily, you will find God there.

The beloved senior pastors that have been teaching, nurturing and parenting the congregation has left the church to relocate out of state. It's sad to lose senior pastors but eventually it just becomes their time to move on as the good Lord leads them. In my 20+ years as a church goer I've seen churches make a massive decline after a major change of leadership. I'm not sure how the new senior pastor will do in his role but this church is already small in size so I'm skeptic this lovely church will survive such a major transition but heck the legend is that God is a miracle worker right? Guess we'll see but it breaks my heart that pretty much ALL the old church leaders have moved on over recent years and the old senior pastor & wife moving on recently was the final nail in the coffin for this small church. This church is in my opinion working to re-establish itself with all brand new leadership. I don't even think the elders of the church have been around too long because all the elders of yesteryear have long gone. I miss so many of those wonderful people of God!

One thing that really stood out was how friendly everyone was - everyone I met had a smile and was ready to help with any questions. The cleanliness and orderliness of the place were impressive. It's an excellent spot for anyone looking to learn more about Bible history in a well-organized and welcoming environment. Definitely a must-visit! The architecture is absolutely magnificent, the scope of the interior is truly awe inspiring. The gothic exterior is so amazing and interesting as every where your eye lands is a new little angle or nook. We have not attended a service here yet but hopefully someday. Not to be missed, in the basement is the Orthodox Christian Church, we happen to be Greek Orthodox so we made a point to seek out this church. What is lacks in size it makes up for in spirit. It is reached by a marble spiral staircase and has vaulted ceilings in stone, a solid iron door and the icons one would expect. The views as you can imagine are second to none from the top of the chapel.

The imposing hilltop presence of Cadet Chapel, overlooking the campus of the United Stated Military Academy at West Point, NY, was completed in 1910. It replaced the Old Cadet Chapel built in 1836, which was deconstructed and moved to the U.S.M.A. cemetary where it remains, and is utilized today. This church was established as a protestant denomination place of worship for members of the Corp of Cadets. Cadet Chapel is of Gothic Revival architecture and houses the largest pipe organ in the world with 23,511 individual pipes. The interior soaring native granite arches, and the beautiful stained glass windows, are breath taking. The Academy motto "Duty , Honor, Country" is inscribed in the Great Sancuary window. U.S.M.A. graduating classes have also contributed to the additon of the stained glass windows. Upon entering, one can't help but be in awe of the Battle and national flags which hang high above the congregants in the nave of the church. For this reason, Cadet Chapel has been compared to St. George's Chapel, Windsor, England and to the Church of St. Louis at Les Invalides in Paris, France. Some of the flags hanging where carried in the Civil War, Spanish American War and the Phillipine Insurrection, to name a few. Services at Cadet Chapel are additionally open to the public with security passes and the faculty. To marry at Cadet Chapel either the bride or groom must be a graduate of the Academy.
