Dubbed 'The Cotton Store', this is a fabulously original concept for a shop. Pretty much everything that's available to buy ready-made is also available in kit form for you to sew together yourself. They've got smock dresses, apron dresses, rag dolls, tea towels that turn into elephants or crocodiles... Absolutely great. There just aren't enough people these days that know how to sew, and this is a brilliantly basic way of learning if you're unsure where to start. The kits contain everything you need - a massive piece of beautifully coloured and patterned fabric with all the parts marked on it, plus instructions and clear size guides (ranging from a 10 to a 16).
As well as the sew-your-own stuff, they've also got some comfy looking jersey yoga dresses and pyjamas. There's also an extremely cute selection of cotton baby-grows and kiddies' pyjamas with the sweetest little animal patterns on them.
The girl in the shop was incredibly friendly, helpful and chatty - she was even modelling one of the pretty patterned smock dresses herself. So, if you need a bit of a creative outlet but aren't feeling particularly confident in your dress-making ability, head down here, grab a kit and get sewing. I'm rather tempted by it myself... I'll let you know how I get on! read more
