Capt Jerry took my family on a very special morning cruise. It was cold but beautiful.

The trip can get canceled, so it's best to book them during a time where you'll still be able to reschedule if needed. Both our fishing trip and the sunset cruise were canceled due to poor conditions, but because I booked them earlier in the week, we were able to reschedule and still do both later in the week. My daughter (who is only 9) got sea sick on the fishing trip, which was a bummer but the crew and other passengers were very kind and helpful. There needed up being several sick people on the trip. It seems like a norm for this kind of thing. I guess you don't know until you try it. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more info about how long it would take to get out of the sound and how long you would actually get to fish. Of the 4 hours we booked, we fished for maybe a little over an hour. It took 1 hour to get out and 1 hour to get back. Then there is moving around in between. My son loved it though. He caught several fish and was able to take a couple home. Overall, it was an interesting experience and I would take my son again. The sunset dolphin cruise was great. The crew was awesome and the music was nice. We didn't see any dolphin but I knew booking that it was a maybe. I'm a glass half full kind of person, so it depends on your expectations and how you handle things. Just cruising around on a boat with the sun going down was super nice. I was a little worried because it said smoking was allowed on the boat, but thankfully no one was smoking because it would've made me sick and I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. Another cool highlight of the trip was that on the sunset cruise there was a kid fishing off the back (a family member of the captain I assume) and he allowed my son to fish with him. A fish was caught, and he told my son he could take it home. The captain even fillet the fish at the dock for us. It was such a fun and unique experience. Everyone run Miss Hatteras was great!

I recommend you de-stress by going for a trip on the Miss Hatteras! She is a fishing boat that sails out of the picturesque Oden Dock in Hatteras, N.C. Our leader for the trip was Captain KP Scott, also the owner, and is supported by first mates Chase and Wolfie. Natalie Scott is also a Captain but most frequently is the one booking your trip over the phone and does all kind of other important tasks. All were friendly, helpful and professional. The half day trip is approximately six or seven miles off shore. Trigger fish and black sea bass are most commonly caught. Please be generous with these hard-working mates, 25 percent tip based on the trip cost is a reasonable gratuity. Highly recommend the Miss Hatteras!

Didn't get to drop fish like agreed instead he chased blackfin tuna for 4 hours despite us asking multiple times to change species the mate "taterbug" was rude and abrasive. Both the captain and mate were obviously keyed up on some form of narcotics. When we returned to the dock much earlier then discussed. They informed us that in addition to the 1800$ we paid for the trip that we "owed" the mate an additional 200$ per person as a tip. When we argued the insane demand as way more than he earned the mate went to other boats and got the other mates stirred up and we spent 20 minutes getting screamed at and insulted by the dock . Since our return home we have been harassed by call and text from multiple people at odens dock . They made what was supposed to be a great lifetime memory for my son and I into a nightmare. Just terrible

The stories that you hear, lol as we know how fish stories go if this is the best place to go out on a fishing excursion and actually catch fish., not knowing whether to believe the fish tails or not we decided to give it a try I've always loved fishing and hey why not. We had no idea which boat to choose or anything else so it was just kind of luck of the draw. It started off, once we reached the point that Captain Jack wanted to la said anchor out of MySpace. And then nothing, 4 hours nothing. But during this time Captain Jack in his first made tiptoes quite amused with various fish tales of previous days in the years. Of course we love hearing all the crazy fish tails and had a great time. Luckily for us, the fish started biting again and it was like a feeding frenzy. We could barely get Airline back out we were catching another fish. Most of the fish were definitely keepers and we ended up with a smorgasbord of fish for dinner including mahi mahi, tuna, and wahoo. Can't say I'm crazy about flying fish but I sure enjoyed eating it. Overall a wonderful day it was a great experience and I would definitely do it again. If you go to the OBX make sure you check this out and take a half day or full day fishing excursion. You will think yourself and have a wonderful time. What's a girl to do? When you love to fish and you're on the water you take advantage of it.

The First Mate was Aidan, and he was a worker. He earned every bit of his tip. On our 10 hour trip we hit two, that's 2, schools of fish, and a shark that 2 of us on this 6-man crew had to fight for 45 minutes before they cut the leader. I would think a charter boat captain, who does this every day for a living, would be able to put you on some more fish, rather than riding around for hours. When we got back in they took the fish to the "cleaning station" which is a separate entity. They claimed, and we paid for 140 pounds of fish to be cleaned. Now, just in my head, dividing that by 6, my cousin and I should have gotten around 46 pounds of fish. When we got home and weighed it, we got 13 pounds. I don't know definitely that they took our fish, or just lied about the weight, but one or the other is true. They also nickel and dime you to death over there. It's extra to vacuum seal them, then it's $1 per shovel of ice for your cooler. I could not recommend these outfits to anyone I care about.
