we came here tonight for student's night so our meal was 25% off! it was really nice because we had reservations for 10 people & had a private table on the second floor in a large booth! it was such a great party table & there were many tables out in the patio as well as downstairs! we had to go down to order & though the ones taking our orders were a bit rude, our food came relatively fast! mine came out first being a grilled chicken burger haha then the rest of the beef burgers started piling in one after another & two of them made the mistake of ordering medium rare;; we were shocked to see how red the meat was but they ate it & was happy with it! i really appreciated the condiments they supplied, especially the ketchup in the tomato bottle!! we had such a nice time and the servers were nice, even helping us take photos! it was a good place to hang with friends & share a meal before or after shopping! we went there pretty late for dinner but since it was student discounts only that night, the place was even more packed all around! but overall, gourmet burger was really satisfying! i don't usually go out for burgers but this really was nice because they had so many variety of meats & sides!! read more

I've been to GBK a few times in the past, and for someone who eats quite a lot of burgers, I have yet to be disappointed by the place. I was aware that I was about to eat somewhere that has its food sourced by the titanic load, will lack a unique experience - all the things that stereotypically come with eating at a chain restaurant, but in the Trafford centre, there aren't many independent eateries to choose from and I'm not adverse to the odd trip to a chain every now and then. Standing by the 'Please wait to be seated' sign at the entrance, after a few moments we were approached by a pleasant guy who asked if we would like to sit inside or out, we chose inside. He then asked us to choose our table.. did we want a round table?, a square table?.. so basically we chose our own seat.. making the 'please wait to be seated' idea completely pointless. Anyway... The GBK restaurant at The Trafford Centre is newly refurbished, and you can tell. It's spacious and very well lit, which is clearly a challenge for any restaurant inside the TC. There is an upstairs eating area and balcony, which looked pretty cool. But, inevitably, with it being filled with shoppers just looking for a quick meal, it lacked in the atmosphere that you get with most burger joints in town. I always get quite irritated when the waiter asks 'have you been here before?' - I completely get why they do it, just in case you can't grasp the concept of choosing your meal and ordering at the counter... I nodded, the waiter quickly realised my annoyance, smiled and moved on.. fair play to him for that. (In my defence it was almost 9pm and I was very hungry) He mentioned that GBK have a loyalty app which I downloaded and used at the till to redeem my free sauce! Winner. *huge brownie points Mr Waiter guy!* I'm not overly keen on having to go up and order, especially with only one till open, I had to wait quite a while, again I can't blame them for this as it was quite late on in the evening - but I did, however, like being asked how I wanted the burger cooked - and at medium, both our burgers were cooked spot on; juicy, pink in the middle and tasty. Also, if you happen not to like any of the combinations they have for their burgers, they are quite happy to let you create your own. Not something i'd go for, but still a nice touch for those fussier eaters and also reinforces the fact that your burger is made fresh. The menu is fab. There are a variety of burgers to choose from ranging from quite plain to the more exotic and there are chicken burgers and veggie options for those who aren't a fan of the good old beef burger. We ordered The Camemburger - Beef burger with Camembert, hash brown, truffle mayo, onion jam and relish in a brioche bun. And the Taxidriver - another beef burger with American cheese, onion ring, Cajun relish, smoked chilli mayo, dill pickle and salad also in brioche. 2 orders of fries, one skinny and one of the sweet potato variety and the Homeslaw. After ordering, and paying £30ish for the 2 meals listed above, we were given 2 empty glasses to fill with complimentary monkey nuts from a giant tub.. nice touch and gives you something to do whilst you wait for your food. Ten minutes later, and with a table covered in monkey nut shells, the food arrived. The burger was, as previously mentioned, cooked very well and the Camembert was gooey and not overpowering - it worked well. These burgers are pretty big, and the more you put on it, the more dignity you lose when trying to eat it. No wonder they're held together with a stake through the middle. But it's all part of the fun. The skinny fries significantly lacked in potato - far too skinny for my liking. But the sweet potato fries were great and the baconnaise hit the spot. I regrettably didn't order a milkshake, but the lady on the next table did, and she seemed quite impressed by it as she tried to force her boyfriend to try some, more than once with 'Babe. Try thisss!!!' I did however, order a Coke which came, to my delight, in a glass bottle served with a straw! Glass bottled Coke ranks very highly on my list of soft drinks, as opposed to draft or Coke from a can. This might not be everyone's cup of tea, but i'm sure they'd serve it to you in a glass with ice if you requested. With Manchester having been spoilt by the opening of so many great burger places recently, GBK isn't ever going to be my first choice but is still in my top 5. I find it reasonably priced and always have, because the food is fresh and cooked well. Chances are if you like burgers, you're bound to find yourself in a GBK at some point. And you won't be disappointed. read more

As with the vast majority (possibly all?) of the restaurants at The Trafford Centre, this isn't somewhere you should make your destination but is perfectly passable if you're there anyway. Rich was being a fussy bugger so even though Tampopo looked very tempting and I snagged us a discount code for Cafe Rouge, we continued to wander and happened upon Gourmet Burger Kitchen. On the one hand I fancied something simple, but on the other hand I knew I'd be comparing it to all the other great burgers I've eaten. With this in mind I decided to go for something more unusual, such as a lamb burger or falafel. In the end I chose the Persian Lamb burger which comes with halloumi, harissa mayo, rocket and pickled onions. Rich had the avocado bacon burger, and we got a regular portion of skinny fries to share. You order at the till - although there were loads of staff just hovering around which was quite annoying. The guy who served me was friendly and efficient. Two burgers, one portion of fries and two soft drinks came to around £25, which I thought was quite expensive for what it is. Drinks arrived quickly. I went for a ginger & lemongrass drink which was tasty and refreshing, and a pretty good deal as you get free refills. Food arrived shortly after. First impressions were that the fries were very skinny - more like shoestring fries. No complaints here though. My burger was really nice, a bit overstuffed but again that's not really a complaint. I enjoyed the addition of halloumi and the harissa mayo, although it went everywhere, was delicious. Rich ate his at his usual speed so I presume he enjoyed. Overall this was a good option at The Trafford Centre and I enjoyed my food. read more

I've been here a couple of times. The first time we went I had been talking about wanting a blue cheese burger all the way round the Trafford Centre and when we finally got there, I ordered what I took to be the biggest burger on the menu, the Mighty burger. Because I'm a greedy sod. I ordered it medium from what I remember and it was decent. Not quite up there with the greats of burgers such as Filthy Cow but not bad at all. The next time we went a few weeks ago I ordered the avocado bacon burger. This really was quite tasty, I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered skinny fries to share between us and I'm aware this sounds quite stupid, but they were too skinny. I think I would have enjoyed the regular chips more. Overall it was a reasonably decent eating experience, you get pretty much exactly what you expect and the prices aren't too bad at all. Just don't come expecting a top level burger as you'll likely be a bit disappointed. read more

Dropped in here with the sis after a bit of Christmas shopping. I do love a good burger :). We were offered the choice of inside or outside (which is really inside as its in the Trafford Centre!). Got seated and then the choosing begins. My sister went for "The Don" and i went for "The Kiwi" we shared some chunky fries and got a free garlic dip due to me having the GBK app on my phone. Drinks wise , She went for a ginger and elderflower fizz and i went for a bottle of San Miguel At near enough £30 for a couple of burgers, 1 lot of chips and 2 drinks cheap fast food this ain't. Having said that the burgers were decent sized and covered with lovely fresh toppings and cooked to my liking (rare!). The skin on chunky chips were a little disappointing as they were more "chip" than "skin on fries" but the spicy salt they came with was a welcome change to normal table salt. Garlic mayo was nicely and garlicky so best avoided if you fancy getting up close and personal with anyone -a big no no if you came here on a date the other dip options are safer :D The fizzy drink that my sister opted for was refillable so the guy brought her another one on request and it was really refreshing and a welcome change to the normally fizzy drinks you get. My other half and I stopped in at The Trafford Centre on our way back to her home in North Lincolnshire from the Manchester Airport. I was starving after a day on flights, and she was hungry as well... the choices were endless at The Trafford Centre, but we finally decided on the GBK because we both love burgers and chips. The ordering system was great, and we were able to relax a bit. When our food came, the burgers looked gorgeous, as did the chips and onion rings. Unfortunately, as it's been said before, the chips (fries) were shoe-string thin but good. The onion rings were overly crunchy but more reminiscent of American onion rings than most in the UK. Onto the burgers... my partner's burger was perfect. Mine was good, but the avocado was nowhere near ripe. When I said something to one of the staff, she looked at my like I was an insect on her arm, said she'd tell the kitchen, rolled her eyes and walked off. Also, I ordered my burger "medium" but got "medium-well". After the avocado incident, I preferred not to complain again. I'd definitely visit a GBK again... just might not be this one. read more

Had a meal at gourmet burger kitchen first time at the Trafford and I must say I wasn't overly impressed the prices were extortionate for what you get - the only thing I thought I got which was really good was the alcohol ginger beer hollows never had this before and I was quite keen. The kiwi burger I had was average in that the flavours were a good idea with egg, beetroot pineapple and so forth but the meat quality was average I would much rather prefer five guys with there prices - read more

I was a left feeling unsatisfied after eating at GBK; it did feel like a slightly more upmarket version on Burger King. I came here with friends on a Monday night during peak time. The waiter informed us as we were seated that none of the fizzy drinks were available as the machine had broke, so they were serving them flat, at the same price. We shortly realised that you had to go and place your order at the till, we hadn't been told this when we arrived. Ordering the food was simple, and I had "The Don" burger, medium rare and a side of chunky chips with truffle cheese. To be fair the burger was perfect, and the meat was actually medium rare. The Gorgonzola worked really nicely in the burger. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the upmarket cheesy chips; the cheese hadn't melted and I felt that it was overly expensive for a pile of chips and some supposedly nice cheese thrown on top. All in all, they made a nice burger, but there are plenty of other places that also do so in the Trafford centre and will probably give you a much better experience than 'Gourmet Burger King'. read more

I had a decent experience at this restaurant. To be honest I'd never been to GBK before so I haven't got anything to compare it to but it was, as the star rating system says; A-OK. A staff member explained the Nando's style order over the counter system clearly when we arrived and we were left to our own devices. I went for the blue cheese burger and my companion went for the pesterella (burger with pesto). My burger had that great slightly charred barbeque type flavour if you know what I mean and the blue cheese sauce was awesome. I have to admit I have a bit of a thing for blue cheese and meat so it would be hard for this to fail in my eyes! The sides were a bit of a disappointment, however. The bowl of chips we got to share was pretty small and although the coleslaw was nice, there could have been more of that as well considering how much it cost. For that much I would have expected for there to have been more chips than we could manage. This brings me to the main problem I have with GBK; the cost. As far as dining experiences go it is nothing special; the food is good but I am not going to be shouting from the rooftops about it. It just didn't feel like great value to me, especially with the hands off service but I would certainly go again if I had some money-off vouchers. read more

This was my first time at a GBK! Really I feel its more a 3.5 stars!! Despite being really busy we managed to get a table quite quickly! The menu is great, a wide range of really original burgers that made decisions difficult! I opted for a pretty original classic with pickles, cheese, onion ring and cajun mayo... partly due to nursing a hangover and being a little delicate... but also because its the true test of a good burger joint rather than a burger loaded with fancy toppings!! My burger just surpassed average, and cooked medium as I had asked! We also got chunky chips with trufle cheese sauce, which unfortunately weren't as amazing as they may sound or the price of them suggested!! I would advise sticking to regular fries and ordering some of their dipping sauce!! For a chain burger restaurant this place ticks the boxes, and its nice that they change their menu and put on a few speciality burgers! Max got a lamb burger topped with hallomi and chutney which was definitely much tastier and full of nice flavours!! So when you've no top notch local burger joint round the corner its worth a go! read more

Instead I got two meatball sized balls in a bun. * the chips tasted of beef ie. like Monster Munch, and they had been the the fryer a few times so were pretty awful and the worst thing is that I complained to head office and never got a reply. I'm not a burger eater but I fell in love with GBK for a quick cheeky burger. I've used Manchester city GBK and food really fresh, fries crisp. Trafford it all feels like its been lying around for ages. Chips heavy soft, floppy, greasy and not red hot - definitely not fresh and shockingly all our 3 burgers arrived on the table minutes after ordering. Shocking because I don't mind waiting for it to be cooked but 120 seconds ... C'mon! Staff not great here ither at the till. My burger was dry and no way fresh. My daughters was a little raw in the middle and my wives dry also. We all left 50% of the food, god knows why we ate the other 50%. I might use spinning fields again but I won't use this one in Trafford again. That was my second visit at Trafford after a movie, it was like this last time but I thought it was a bad day - clearly not ... Never again here. Mcdonalds might be crap but at least you know it's cooked there and then! read more
