GBK is a burger chain in the UK. We stumbled upon a lot of them during our time there, but only tried this one out. As the name implies, this is a burger joint! But you can also get some chicken products and fancy milkshakes. The insides seem to always be nicely decorated if you like modern style decor, which I do. They can accommodate large parties fairly easily. Personally, I remember my burger being kind of dry and not tasting super spectacular. That being said, I enjoyed their skinny fries and especially enjoyed the boozy milkshake I tried. They have a pretty large selection of beer and spirits, so if you're looking to have a drink with pals, this is a solid enough option. read more

As the name suggests, the focus here is on Burger creations, but salads and other dishes are also offered. Orders are taken directly near the kitchen and not at the table. We had the classic cheese burger (medium well done), Chili Chicken Salad and Onion rings, among a few sides. The rings were crispy, without the onions being too soft, the salad extremely tasty (roasted cashews are a great touch) and the burger a palette feast that I highly recommend. The staff is very courteous and patient. Tips are not included in the bill, so don't forget to leave something in the cups near the cashiers. read more

I have been to Gourmet Burger kitchen a few times and always been really happy with my experience there. The burgers are good, as you would expect, and the service is always slick, quick and easy. Up until last weekend, I had always thought of this place, however, as a bit of a one trick pony. How wrong I was!! This time around I opted for the goats cheese salad and it was FANTASTIC! Nuts and beetroot add some lovely textures and the portion was huge - big enough to feel like you've eaten a good, hearty dinner. They may be called Gourmet Burger Kitchen, but they could quite easily add 'salad' to their name as well, in my opinion. GBSK isn't quite so catchy though... I would never usually have gone for anything other than a burger at GBK, but I am so glad I did and I'd urge you all to do the same! On top of this, the rest of the group all enjoyed their burger, as per usual. There were some good looking milkshakes dotted around the table as well which were shockingly massive, but apparently extremely tasty! read more

One of the better chains around the UK. One of the best milkshakes i've ever had, though expensive since it's 4 quid. - small chili burger was good: the chili sauce dripped everywhere and it didn't go that well with the burger i thought, but the burger itself was great. - regular bacon cheeseburger with an added pineapple. 10 quid for a burger is nowhere near cheap, but the bite I had was DELICIOUS! - regular size fries with sweet chili and sour cream dipping sauce. It sucks that the dipping sauce is an extra 1.25 pounds when it just tastes like the mcdonald sweet chili sauce with a lot of sour cream at the bottom. I liked the sauce, but i wasn't sure about its mix with sour cream. One thing I think is worth mentioning is that even though you go up to buy your food at the counter, the service is still really great. They will seat you and bring you your food, and then will come and ask you if everything is okay. Very friendly! Definitely one of the better chains in the UK read more

It is a bit expensive for burgers and fries and shakes (a burger will run you £7-9, plus £1.25 for each sauce, plus £2.35 for rosemary fries, and shakes are £4), but this place is delicious. Oh, it is delicious. Loyalty card gives benefits every few purchases, which is awesome. The garlic mayo is a great sauce, as is the basil mayo. The oreo milkshakes are fantastic, and the avocado bacon burger is fantastic (hold the mayo and relish for a purer experience). The salt they have (Hei-hei salt) is great, as it has a little extra flavor. read more

Good fun! I agree with what LLB85 says about the size, and add to it the challenge of trying to eat all the layers in one mouthfulwithout spilling sauce all down you. Very hard, but certainly not a criticism of the place. The burgers really are very tasty, and the place has got a nicer feel to it than many similar places, although it's still hard to feel sophisticated stuffing burger into your mouth. It's nice to have a change from the usual oversalted fries and ketchup that you get in these places, although how people find the appetite for chips as well is beyond me! The restaurant is right next to a bus stop, so it's nice to duck in from the crowded street. It's still not a particularly peaceful dining experience, but hopefully you'll be nattering away too much to notice that. Best for: a catch-up lunch with a couple of friends. read more

GBK has a lot of hype surrounding it and I wanted to see if it lived up to it. First, the service is good. Most of the people are helpful and happy but we did run into a few problems. After a long day of work on a Saturday i can't expect everyone to be happy. I ordered the lunch special and in terms of price, it receives five stars. 5.95 for burger and fries, doesn't get much better. My fiance ordered off the menu. Burger wise, we weren't blown away. I've had some amazing burgers in my day, growing up stateside and I like my burgers to be juicy and full of flavor which this was lacking. It wasn't a bad burger, it just wasn't as good as everyone says they are. The skinny fries are cute and crispy and their onion rings are spot on. They have an app that rewards people for going to their restaurant which is nice but if it wasn't for the lunch menu deal, I wouldn't go back. I will give it another try and order one of their special burgers but I'm still holding out for a good burger joint in the UK. read more

Really snug branch of the posh burger company, which can get really full up at busy times so if you really are desperate for one of their fine burgers then I would recommend visiting in the early evening. The food was excellent. I had one of the vegetarian mushroom burgers and my husband had the 'Kiwi' burger, which involved egg and beetroot and was apparently very nice indeed. The fillings are piled high so you may want to tackle the burgers with a knife and fork, rather than in the traditional way. I had a sneaky look around before tucking in and everyone else was using cutlery so don't feel self conscious! I love the milkshakes here as well - the lime one is amazing! A meal for two with drinks, burgers and a side of fries each came to about £25, which is very reasonable. read more

Big range of burgers with a massive student discount (see below). It's basically "fast casual" in the American style, which is to say "posh fast food," but as various recent articles in the papers have pointed out, a burger at GBK is actually more calories than a Big Mac. The only problem with that is that they taste goooood. We tend to go in a group of a few of us and get a couple of bowls of chips (one per person is overkill). The service is variable but if you bang straight to the counter when you walk in and wait with your menus then you tend to do OK. Two important notes: 1. It gets packed around dinnertime, so if you go a little early or a little late your chances of not waiting are better. When you do wait, the queue tends to move fairly quicky though it's a little irritating when people brush by you to get take-away. 2. Most important of all, get the student discount card. It used to be 'buy one burger, get one free,' but now it's 40% off the whole bill. This makes a massive difference and means it is an amazingly cheap feast of meat and extras... or veggie options. read more

This place is really something special for a meal with a difference. The name is fairly self-explanatory - go here for a great big burger! The food comes stuffed full up with extras though - so big that it's impossible to pick it up to eat it, you have to strategically attack with a knife and fork. I had a burger with all sorts of salad on it - egg, beetroot, lettuce, tomatoes and relish - it was amazing! There's also a good selection of chips with dips and they do a cracking milkshake in here too (but it takes a while to arrive!). The service is good, friendly and fairly efficient. I had the bean burger yesterday with avocado and the falafal burger today and both were delicious... Yes, 2 visits in 2 days, it is that good! Highly recommend the rosemary fries too, and my carnivorous friends tell me the meat burgers are pretty tasty too. A couple of points to note: 1. It is a pretty small place and very popular so it gets packed. The good news is that the service is quick. 2. Student discount is massive - 30%. You need to download the GBK app before you go, and that gets you not only the discount but you can 'earn' vouchers and rewards too. 3. The burgers here really are great- it is a fantastic place to go if you are feeling really hungry! They are pretty massive and can be a bit difficult to eat. However they are so tasty that it is really worth the effort, though I would not recomend it as a first date place as it can be a bit undignified! The bacon and avacado burger is my favorite, but all they ones I have tried have been good. If you are feeling really hungry then the chips are very good too. They also have great milkshakes and soft drinks to go with your food. The service is good- friendly and pretty quick.
