We stayed at an Airbnb in Copacabana and walked over to Grao-Para for lunch. After being seated on the patio, it took quite a while for the waiter to take our order. This restaurant was recommended in my guidebook so I was excited to check it out. Especially because they serve North Brazilian cuisine, something I had never tried prior. North Brazilian food is known for having African influences.
Rather than going with an entree, I decided to try a few appetizers. I went with the three empanadas (I'm blanking on the Brazilian term for this): crab, fish, and duck. Unfortunately, the spices that were used just weren't to my liking. To the point where I couldn't finish the appetizers---a very rare occurrence for me. I also got the Acai bowl which I did enjoy. Granola in Brazil is different so it was a treat to try this out too. Definitely don't leave Brazil without having some fresh Acai!
They were playing the World Cup game on a projector while we were there which is a nice touch. read more
