Going to the OB/GYN for a pap smear and pelvic/breast exam is always so awkward and uncomfortable, but Dr Hennessey made the uncomfortable part as quick and painless as possible, so I wasn't sitting in a cold exam room with my legs strapped up for too long. When I arrived they were BUSY, I figured I would be spending quite a bit of time there but to my surprise I was in and out within 15 minutes. Dr. Alfandre was personable, listened to my concerns and suggested a steroid shot for my shoulder, which one day later is already helping. As if the doctor has the beginning stages of dementia. At the very least, he did not take careful enough notes to remind himself of a conversation he had with his patient and the reasoning why he prescribed a particular treatment plan. Decisions made following a thorough, lengthy discussion during visits, he would prescribe medication, one would assume based off of his professional medical expertise, only to later insinuate that I somehow 'tricked' him into him prescribing a particular medication. Finally, as he begins the process of retiring, he hires two young ladies who should not be in the field of medicine. Young, condescending, belittling, unprofessional, and would reverse an established treatment plan on a whim. No discussion. No replacement treatment, just stopped because they just didn't like it. If you've never found yourself in this type of situation with your established medical team, I will tell you, it is terrifying. There is nothing you can do or say. As your new, forced upon you physician/PA/nurse, they hold all authority, removing you off medication that you depend on as part of your care. Absolutely do not trust this practice. It was an embarrassing and humiliating experience. I was embarrassed for them. Akin to a group of children playing doctor. Clueless and dangerous.

Unfortunately, I felt that my anxiety and questions were brushed aside, I was made to feel just in an old time "MD as GOD" kind of practice, as in "don't you worry your pretty little head". I was told that she would know what to do if I was uncomfortable during the procedure but refused to explain what to expect beyond a routine info sheet (that I had already read onlline). Needless to say, I chose another office (Albany Gastroenterology, 1375 Washington, Dr. Buhac) and had the procedure yesterday, and am quite happy with the way I was treated and the results.
