I love this. It took me a few Sundays to get used to normal people speaking on scriptural topics from the pulpit, rather than a professional pastor, but you really get a sense of how much the gospel means to the different members of the congregation. People go out of their way to serve each other and the surrounding community. WHAT TO EXPECT ON SUNDAYS: This congregation (termed a "ward") has its services in three, 1-hour blocks. The first hour is like you'd find in most other churches: The Sacrament bread is broken, blessed, and shared. Instead of wine or grape juice, water is also blessed and passed. There are two or three short spiritual talks given and hymns sung. The second hour is Sunday school for adults (this year we're reading through and discussing the Old Testament together) and kids get to go to their own Primary Sunday school activities (divided by age). The third hour, adult women meet together in our religious/service organization known as Relief Society. Men meet together separately during this hour as well as well. Young adults take part in the Young Men's and Young Women's programs where they discuss different themed gospel topics and prepare for/discuss ongoing activities and service projects. VISITING: The people here are welcoming of newcomers. You don't have to be Mormon to attend. People *generally* wear traditional Sunday clothing (suit and tie for men, dress/skirt and blouse for women), BUT it's not a rule so feel free to come as you are. Also know that you can always ask where the missionaries are, and they'll be around to answer any and all questions you might have. Feel free to ask for a copy of the Book of Mormon if you're curious about it, too. That's what I did back in 2003 and 5 years later I was baptized ;) Hope to see you on Sunday some time!

This is the best church I have ever attended - and I've attended MANY. It's a small church where…read moreeveryone gets to know one another, and it's an incredibly active church as well. I've enjoyed not only the worship services, where everyone is free to share their joys or ask for prayer, but also other activities such as picnics, choir concerts, dinners, etc. The best way to describe what it's like going to this church is to imagine what it would be like at a really fun family reunion or a night with friends. Very welcoming and fun, and it's like that every week. Even though it's a small church, I've seen them do a lot to help the community, and there is a really strong focus on helping the immediate community. Don't be afraid to give this church a try. It's very casual; you can wear a suit or you can wear jeans and a sweatshirt. The congregation has a variety of backgrounds, and there were about 14 countries represented by the membership at last count. It's hard to find that type of integration in churches nowadays, but they've managed to do it because they truly welcome everyone into the church each week.
