The Church is so big your viewed as a number and unfortunately things got toxic while I was there serving. it's nice to know some long time members that will be left nameless were talking behind my back about me! so much for the love of Jesus this church claims to be about! haven't been back since I left and I'm glad I did so as much I miss it there before things took a turn and it was never my desire to leave originally. read more

I can not and will not attend a church that leads by lying to people. Don't let your youth pastor go and tell the teens that were very attached to him that he was "chosen for another position". Don't let other pastors/leaders go and tell the congregation that they were called to other paths. This church treats everyone as a number. You walk into a huge auditorium and are NEVER welcomed. You can walk around after service and no one speaks to you. if you attend and do not come for several weeks - you aren't missed. read more

I came to these reviews by accident. I felt so sad as I read them! I was a new attendee back in 2009. Everyone is new at some point. After attending for some time we wanted to get to know people. We took it upon ourselves to do so! We volunteered as parents and then our kids volunteered. We have gotten to know so many people and love to meet new people that come to our church. It is like family! Pastor Rex is amazing. Some people with negative comments is fine but maybe you should put yourself out there to meet people if that is what you want. Coffee doesn't have to be free, you can purchase and help out the church which in return helps so many. If you are in need of something, help with a tire, a ride home, or prayer, all you have to do is ask! There are a lot of kind people. That's what Jesus wants us to do, love one another! read more

I've been attending grace fellowship in Latham NY for some time. I have been on YELP for about 5 minutes and after reading the negative reviews regarding this church, I'm a bit confused.... Is someone actually complaining about purchasing a cup of coffee?? If that is the main topic of complaint, may I suggest you find a church that offers free coffee, hope you find the sermon touching your heart but if you can only focus on the cost of coffee than I'm quite sure you'll find something else that you don't care for and complain about that. The other reviewer said that people are not friendly here, perhaps you need to speak up and open your own heart, don't wait around for someone to coddle you, I'm assuming your a grownup? No need to be shy and timid, It's a two way street in life. The person who had a flat tire and all 8 of the church goers ignored you... Did you ask for help or just sit there with a sad face and hope people could read your mind? Perhaps none of the evil 8 even noticed you had a flat tire, that is unless you had your car up on a jack or flares or a reflective cone out in the open. How can you negatively review a place when your mind isn't even focusing on the word?? Or is this a regular thing people do on YELP, that their life is so sad, the only joy is found in negative criticism. Perhaps you should all take your mind off yourselves and think of what Jesus would do? I believe Jesus wouldn't be bashing a church because he had to purchase a cup of coffee or because he'd gotten a flat and 8 people hadn't noticed?? And finally, to that deep theologian who criticized everything from the music to the sermon. God made different places of worship for different individuals, I'm so glad we didn't have the opportunity to have met, seems to me that your the type of individual who would be unhappy anywhere and finds delight in boasting about their own idea of a perfect church. Grace Fellowship is a solid church with consistent, life-challenging preaching from Pastor Rex. The church started off on Wolf Road and then expanded so much that it is now at the old Grand Union shopping center in Watervliet! It is similar to the mega churches you find out in California, except instead of having rotating pastors in the pulpit, you have Pastor Rex nearly every time. It's awesome to have this consistency. That way you start one series and then you look forward to hearing Pastor Rex the next week. This church has challenging, Biblical messages that Pastor Rex shows you how to relate to your own life. Then there's the worship.....which is awesome!! Don't you love it when the worship leader jumps in jubilee on the stage and gets you excited to be praising God? I love how people at this church really embrace diversity. In upstate NY you don't find too much diversity, but this church is actually has diversity! Lots of SUNY kids, medical people, people in the community come to Grace. Also, the people are genuinely friendly. Even if you come alone, you don't feel alone because during worship you experience God!! Check out this church. Join a small group and get involved. This place is worth the drive. read more

The Sunday school for the little one is well organized and my daughter loves it. She actually learns about Christ while in Sunday school and comes out very knowledgeable, she's not just running around playing. Also Pastor Rex can really get the message across to you. This is a slick church with very good messaging. I really like the handouts that go with each service which contain followup study for the week. I'd disagree with the previous reviewer on diversity- it's sea of white with only a very few nonwhites. But that aside, I enjoy the service itself. However, another reason to attend church is for community. That is what is lacking here. Nobody spontaneously makes newcomers feel welcome outside of the official newbie lunch each month. Otherwise, it feels like coming to a snobby, cliquish club. You are either invisible or treated like a number. For example, I wanted to attend a free class and signed up online. When I got there, the organizer of the class was capturing everyone's name in a computer. My name wasn't in there, so I was asked to stand aside while everyone else was welcomed and given materials. For a FREE class. It's bad enough the government is tracking us, but churches? So you'll force someone to awkwardly stand aside instead of welcoming them in treating them like a human being who is trying to figure out how all this God stuff works? This experience really turned me off. I don't know if I will keep coming. I'm getting tired of sitting in the parking lot fighting back the feeling that I'm about to vomit while I work up the nerve to go in the building where everybody knows everybody and they really don't want to include anybody else. Are you supposed to feel lonelier in a church full of people than you do alone at home? I don't think so. It's too bad because I think there is some good content to be had here. And maybe the long time members don't remember how intimidating (or terrifying!) it is to be new. read more

If you want to hear the entire Gospel preached instead of only selected portions, avoid this place like the plague. But if you want to have a "feel good" experience and just want to be told how special you are, or go to a service which is more like a bible study with rock concert beforehand, come on in. This church (and many others in the area) is based on the Purpose Driven format, which makes it dangerous. You won't find those preached here. This is also a cliquey church, which means newbies are not welcomed, contrary to what they may tell you. Bottom line: Grace Fellowship is just another typical mega-church who doesn't want to offend anyone (note: the Gospel will naturally offend ppl). NOT RECOMMENDED. To those who wish to "compliment" me and claim I know nothing about this church: I have been here. I only WISH I could make this my home church. But my review is based on FACTS. I and friends of mine came here and were ignored. You have to be a member to do anything here and I know the staff who gives the membership classes. We felt put off by the long "concert" disguised as worship. NEWS FLASH 1: no true church should require "membership" in order to serve, this is more of a "feel good" control measure to insure people are safe and willing to submit. NEWS FLASH 2: God never intended for churches to look like a stage hall. Walk into Grace and that's just what it will feel like. Because so many young people (and also baby Christians) who don't know the Gospel that well attend, they don't realize this. I have been attending this church now for over a year. I have found that Pastor Rex consistently preaches the Word as it is written. But not only repeating the lines on the page, but really driving home the core message behind the word. When it comes to community as well, they really make you feel like family. Just as a church should, there's a great deal of fellowship, especially if you're willing to put yourself out there a bit and get to know your pew (although they're really just seats) neighbors. I would highly recommend this church to anyone looking for a solid church led by a group of solid Christians. read more

Unfortunately, debris on main road, got a flat tire, near this church. Made it to their side lot. Not one of several (8) church staff, or meeting-folks, spoke or offered assistance as they entered/exited their side door. Front door locked & No one answered a bell/intercom.
