Edith was in constant contact with our family and provided excellent communication when my mother was one of her residents. She always made our family feel at home when we went to visit. Her home cooked meals are amazing and healthy. Edith has a variety of connections throughout the surrounding area to get in home quality medical care and services for her patients. My 98-year old grandmother stayed at Carefree Assisted Living (Doc's Place) for 8 months following…read morea fall and a miserable stay in a skilled nursing facility, and in her words "They brought her back to life." The facility itself is wonderful with a massive great room with high ceilings and a huge kitchen that lends itself to socialization. The staff are very good, and my grandmother was very complimentary to several of them, the care they took with her bathing, the day-to-day attention, and the food! She absolutely loved the cooking. Some of the benefits of this place included exercise classes, social activities, pampering with manicures and pedicures, backyard conducive to bird-watching, massive TV in great room, and regular visits by a nurse practitioner to handle prescriptions and other miscellaneous medical issues. This ability for the facility to handle the routine medical issues was key for us given that we did not live in Arizona. Brie, the day-to-day manager, was absolutely fantastic in every way, and Josh, the owner, was also excellent to deal with on various business issues. We ended up moving our grandmother after the 8 months so that she could be closer to us, and we had very mixed emotions given how well she did at Carefree as well as the relationships she developed there. It was an emotional farewell, to put it mildly. I would highly recommend Carefree and I am just very grateful for Brie, Josh, and the staff.

We found this home thru "a place for mom" and moved her there at the end of December . Although she only lived another two weeks , the care she received there was nothing short of amazing. The whole staff, Bree, Josh and all the caregivers were all very caring individuals. Even the hospice nurse who I am sure had seen her share of care facilities, told us this place was a quality place. Even more amazing was that our primary care physician's grandma has lived there for 3 years. If you are looking for a really good facility that is small (10 residents) and like home this is the place.

Our father had suffered neglect in another state due to a broken hip and when we got him out here…read morefrom the East coast he bounced from hospital to rehab and back again. Then we almost lost him due to a medical emergency. That said, Edward and his fantastic team of aids at Serenity stepped up in a big way working with Hospice of the Valley. The staff is small and so is the facility but the rooms are beautiful with private bathrooms and no bedsores on anyone. They cook homemade meals in a large kitchen where they also interact with the residents. Rachel, Avia and Angel are wonderful with the residents, checking on them, engaging with them in a kind way and laughing. If you like a smaller facility with quality care (maximum 10 residents) then this is it. Our father is now off of end of life hospice and onto regular hospice and it speaks to the care and tlc they give. This facility doesn't have the bells and whistles of the bigger ones but it has cleanliness, caring and interaction. The beds are always made, the residents are always clean and it has a sense of family. The views out of the windows are beautiful and there's a lovely terrace with dining and a putting green when the weather is cooler. I've seen a lot of nursing homes, assisted living facilities and community care homes and this is one of the best.

Dad enjoys the good food and the staff are kind to him, he also does some light work by his own choice which the staff allows to give him that sense of home. He likes to blow leaves and he says he occasionally assists with trash or drying dishes. He feels very at home. For me I notice that he gets good medical care and the team is very communicative with me. Many services are performed on sight. Initially, I looked at a ton of reviews and toured a few different facilities for memory care around the valley. This was the only place that I could see myself being happy if I was to be living in a memory care facility or group home. It feels like a regular very nice house with caregivers. It's a difficult decision to put a parent in a home, but in this case I felt I made a great choice. Dad is not capable of living with me as I have too much responsibility at home and his care needs are vast, and yet, he is not so sick that he needs to be in a hospital setting and I'm sure he doesn't want to feel he's in some sort of institution.
