Our father had suffered neglect in another state due to a broken hip and when we got him out here…read morefrom the East coast he bounced from hospital to rehab and back again. Then we almost lost him due to a medical emergency. That said, Edward and his fantastic team of aids at Serenity stepped up in a big way working with Hospice of the Valley. The staff is small and so is the facility but the rooms are beautiful with private bathrooms and no bedsores on anyone. They cook homemade meals in a large kitchen where they also interact with the residents. Rachel, Avia and Angel are wonderful with the residents, checking on them, engaging with them in a kind way and laughing. If you like a smaller facility with quality care (maximum 10 residents) then this is it. Our father is now off of end of life hospice and onto regular hospice and it speaks to the care and tlc they give. This facility doesn't have the bells and whistles of the bigger ones but it has cleanliness, caring and interaction. The beds are always made, the residents are always clean and it has a sense of family. The views out of the windows are beautiful and there's a lovely terrace with dining and a putting green when the weather is cooler. I've seen a lot of nursing homes, assisted living facilities and community care homes and this is one of the best.

He likes to blow leaves and he says he occasionally assists with trash or drying dishes. He feels very at home. For me I notice that he gets good medical care and the team is very communicative with me. Many services are performed on sight. Initially, I looked at a ton of reviews and toured a few different facilities for memory care around the valley. This was the only place that I could see myself being happy if I was to be living in a memory care facility or group home. It feels like a regular very nice house with caregivers. It's a difficult decision to put a parent in a home, but in this case I felt I made a great choice. Dad is not capable of living with me as I have too much responsibility at home and his care needs are vast, and yet, he is not so sick that he needs to be in a hospital setting and I'm sure he doesn't want to feel he's in some sort of institution. This strikes a wonderful balance of home and community while also getting extremely high quality care. Thank you
