This is the kitty, gloriously bizarre home of the King of Rock & Roll. Elvis Presley was born in Mississippi, he as a true son of Memphis. He was raised in the Lauderdale Courts public housing projects and was inspired by blues clubs on Beale St. In 1957, at 22 yrs. Elvis was discovered at Sun Studios. He spent $100,000 on this colonial style mansion named Graceland by previous owners. We paid $10 to park & $168 to visit Graceland. We started with a film about Elvis & the mansion. We took a shuttle to tour his house, then visited the displays at the welcome center. I used the tablet & complimentary headphones that brought me through the 1st floor then the basement, into the stables, his racquetball court and a meditation Garden, which is the family's gravesite. We spent an hour across the street from the visitor center on this property. The kitchen, jungle room, racquetball center, swimming pool, horse stables, recording room, pool room were pretty impressive. There is a huge gift shop, 5's style diner, smokehouse, ballroom & chapel. His airplanes were parked out front. read more

Even though I am not an Elvis fan, this was definitely the highlight of our trip or should I say one of the highlights of our trip! Graceland was amazing! It was awesome to see where Elvis lived and all that has been done to preserve Elvis and the overall Presley family energy! You do not need to pay for a tour guide, we paid for the ticket that was $84 and it included the iPad with the audio recording and that was all that you need !! The house was beautiful! I did not know that Elvis and his family actually have their tombstones on site, so that was pretty cool to see, it was a very surreal feeling. I learned so much in a few hours that I was there. I can't imagine how the Presley fans feel lol this was definitely great and I'm glad that we went. The one thing that I did not like was that parking was not free, I feel like if I'm paying for a ticket to get in somewhere it should include parking. You definitely need your walking shoes and comfortable clothes because we overall spent close to three hours there. When you arrive you park and you go to the main entrance and they take you into a room to watch a movie which is about seven or eight minutes and then you get on the shuttle to go across the street to the mansion After viewing the mansion, you come back over to the main area and you go visit all of the cars that he had as well as a lot of of the keepsakes l, there are also a few different gift shops where you could buy goodies from. read more

For those of us of a certain age that grew up with Elvis, his recordings, movies and shows, seeing Graceland allows a reconnections with those times and events. He was a great entertainer. He was also a decent human being. He was demonstrative in fashion and home decorating, but it's all about personal taste. The home is revealing, in the sense of what gave him comfort and the feeling of home. The tour was wonderful and gave us a new and greater understanding of this icon. And yes, That Lady accompanied me, even though she was more of a Dave Clark Five and Pat Boone girl before the late 60s. If you get the chance you won't regret the pilgrimage. read more

Graceland has always been on my list of places to visit in the USA. It's like a true piece of Americana - Mt. Rushmore, Lincoln Monument, see Old Faithful, visit Elvis' home in Memphis.... Finally, I've done it! It was awesome to visit. I came on a cold day in early January and there were no lines mid-day and it was a very relaxed and uncrowded visit. I'm sure when there are large groups in summer it can be a huge pain - but my experience, while cold, was fun. All the staff are wonderful - it's a pretty relaxed tour where you are self-guided through the rooms and you are offered an I-Pad and headphones to take with you but don't need them since it's the same info on the plaques in each room. I saw the main sitting room, dining room, momma Prestley's room, the living room, downstairs tv and bar area, the pool room, and the carport and office as well as the raquetball court and a trophy room as well as the graves of Elvis and his parents and now, Lisa Marie and her son. Shuttles run pretty regularly between the Graceland visitor center and the mansion and you can't just walk up or go in on your own - you'll need to enter through the main entrance and visitor center. I like how it is organized and well-run. The visit to the home took me about 40 minutes self-guided with no crowds. read more

This was a bucket list item that has now been checked off! Graceland was an amazing experience. We had no idea what to expect. The mansion is just like it looked back in the 70's. Although it was much smaller than I had expected. Across the street are the museums which are separated. Cars, icons, history, his plane, etc. The memorial garden where the family is laid to rest is nice and reverent. Like most attractions, Graceland is very commercialized. Review your tour options carefully and pick the best one for you. There are tickets for all of the mini-museums, airplanes and Graceland. Each mini-museum dumps you out into a gift shop. The museum complex does have a couple of restaurants and an ice cream/candy shop. We went after school had started so we had no problems with parking or lines! read more

Great Experience! Somewhat haphazardly staffed during off season, overall, expensive but worth the ticket. So many accomplishments from Elvis. A whole day (6-8 hours) is needed to see it all. Allocate time and bring enough water. Food diner is available but perhaps also bring snacks in your car as you park. Go early to get a closer parking space. A lot to see and remember from Elvis and his short life. If in Memphis Tenn, gotta stop to look if you are an Elvis fan. New exhibits under development as well. There is something so nostalgic about Graceland Mansion. It is walking into a piece of history that is so well preserved. Hubby and I arrived at the Mansion via a VIP shuttle for our VIP tour. We were welcomed in at the VIP lounge area where a short movie clip was shown. The front of the Mansion was crowded, but the crowds dissipated across the mansion grounds. The Mansion was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There were so much to see in addition to the house. Many know of the Jungle Room, but I was impressed by the kitchen... it's large size and state of the art appliances for that era. During the self-guided tour, we heard complaints that the house was "small" and was not a mansion. These individuals are seeing the Mansion from their modern eyes and lost fact that this beautiful house was a mansion in the late 50s/early 60s timeframe. We took the 4 hour tour here as we are big Elvis fans. It was highlight of our trip. Tour guide was very good and knowledgeable; very friendly and open to answering questions. The best part of the tour was the grave sight as we were able to really feel the presence of Elvis there. Sad that he was buried next to his still-born brother, parents, wife and daughter. I'm a fan of Elvis Presley and his music! I had a chance to visit Graceland few years ago. It was like stepping along his footsteps while I was touring around the mansion and exploring the garden. Walking thru that custom built musical designed the custom gates felt like he is standing waiting for guests to come in !! It was said that the musical notes were indoired by the sheet music from Jailhouse Rock. The tour was only open at the lower level of Graceland Mansion. The second floor level was off limits and closed to the public viewing as respect to his family to avoid the scene of Elvis' demise. An area of the mansion exhibits his gold record's plaques, jeweled jumpsuits he wore during concerts, the classic cars he drove snd collected. The experience I felt in visiting his home was very overwhelming that just regretting I missed the chance to attend his concerts!! read more

"Lord Almighty, I feel my temperature rising, higher higher, it's burning though to my soul"... setting foot into Graceland Mansion is next level! So if you are a die hard fan or not just about no one on this planet has never heard of The King. Everyone knows who Elvis is and just cause you are not a fan shouldn't stop anyone from visiting. But also I know to each there own and everyone has their own opinion on music and pop culture and whatever, but keep an open mind. Walking into his mansion is almost like walking into a time machine because they have kept all the rooms pristine and exactly how they were when he passed away. The audio narration is great with awesome Elvis Hits playing in between rooms. I was a fan of Elvis before visiting but being in his home just spiked my fascination, appreciation and fandom of the King. 10/10 read more

"It's Now or Never" We visited Graceland on July 4, 2020. We purchased tickets that included a tour of the mansion. I already wrote an extensive review of Graceland so I will just concentrate on the mansion in this review. Elvis Presley was only 22 years old when he purchased Graceland. The mansion is separate from the rest of the estate where the shops and attractions and also the airplanes exhibit are located. We had to wait for tour shuttles to take us to the mansion. The tour included an interactive iPad tour of the living room (and piano room), his parents' bedroom, dining room, the kitchen, TV room, pool room, and the famous Jungle Room. No public access to the bedrooms. Outside of the mansion the tour continued to his father's office, Trophy Building, the Racquetball Building, museum of all of Elvis's personal effects (including his house key and the family Bible), and finally the Meditation Garden. I suppose the mansion was huge back then but the house is small compared to celebrities homes shown in documentaries like MTV Cribs. After our tour of Graceland I was "All Shook Up" and wanted to go back again. Little did I know that I would be returning for a second visit within two months... this time we took my Mom with us. I was fortunate to see the home of the King of Rock 'n' Roll twice. Second only to the White House, Graceland is the most visited residential property in the United States. Overall a good experience. I visited Graceland in the late 80's or early 90's and vaguely remembered my experience as a child. I believe it has definitely grown since then. I brought my 9 year old son and for the most part he stayed interested. We took the second tour of the day and arrived about 30 minutes early and found front row parking in the lot! The line up for the intro movie and shuttle ride across the street to Graceland is a bit confusing, but all staff I interacted with were kind and helpful. We did speak to an older couple in line next to us and they mentioned how they wished there was seating along the wall in the line to the intro movie. So I wanted to mention this, in case you too would need seating. We suggested they sit in the adjoining restaurant and we would save their place in line. You are handed an iPad and headset before boarding a shuttle. You use this as your tour guide. Unfortunately, guests are packed into the home and you can't even finish the tour section on the iPad before being shuffled on to the next location. Graceland itself is a cool artifact of an interesting cultural figure. However, it is hard to get any photos of the front exterior due to the large volume of people standing at the door. Once your tour is completed you are shuttled back across the road and can wander through various buildings with Elvis' memorabilia. The highlight for me was seeing his car collection. After the car collection, my son had lost interest and I spent the rest of the time dragging him along. He did like the hands on section that was created for guests with vision loss. I wish there were more opportunities to engage like this. The many souvenir shops are pricey and don't carry anything too spectacular. I picked up a TCB keychain, but my son didn't find anything Elvis related that he wanted. We ate at Gladys' Diner, which was not great and quite expensive. I would suggest going off site for lunch. If you're in Memphis, it is a must, but expect to be underwhelmed by the experience if you're traveling with children. read more

This visit was to honor the memory of my m-i-l who never got to visit but would have loved it all. We had no idea it was Elvis Week, but throughly enjoyed every thing we were able to experience. I'm only giving this 4 stars because of how they cram so many people through the front door of Graceland at one time. There are 3 rooms everyone stops at-some longer than others if they are on the self-guided tour. Once you move through the home, it does thin out, but it's still people heavy. read more

Standing in the same space as Elvis and imagining him being there is an awesome experience.

I wouldn't say we were Elvis super fans, but we do like his music. So, when we planned a trip to Memphis, of course we had to add Graceland to the list! I bought my tickets online ahead of time, to make sure we could get the date and time we wanted. Even if you hurry through the whole thing, plan to be there at least 3 to 4 hours. So timing is important, especially if you want to eat lunch or have dinner plans! When you arrive, you have to stand in line to go into a movie theater to see a short movie about his history. Then you take a shuttle ride to the mansion where you go through the house wearing headphones and carrying iPads. I found that a little challenging, as you were listening to the description of the room but I had so many people in front of me that I couldn't actually see the room. So I had to pause the commentary until I could get a chance to get closer to the room to see what was being described. But once I kind of figured out how that worked, the tour went better. Once you go through the house, you end up in the backyard where you wait in line to go through the racquetball court, pool, burial site and other spaces. Once you complete the tour, you wait in line to take the shuttle back. This is the best opportunity you have to get a picture in front of the mansion, as they don't really give you the time to do that when you first arrive. Once back at the main area, you can then go through buildings and buildings of exhibits. His car collection, costumes and gold records, memorabilia, and so much more. There's a whole exhibit about Lisa Marie's life, and an exhibit of famous performers who owe parts of their style or motivation to Elvis. We then went out to see his collection of airplanes. We found that to be super interesting, especially the gold plated seatbelts! We didn't stop and read every single thing along the way, and we were still there a good four hours, and probably could've stayed longer if we weren't so exhausted by that point! One thing that disappointed me though, is that there was little or no mention at all about his death. Obviously, they wanted to keep all the focus on the millions of records and songs and fans that he had, but I think it could be a valuable teaching moment for many people about how things can go wrong. Completely ignoring it, I felt, was a great disservice. I'm glad we went, many things were super fascinating, but it's definitely a one time thing, especially at the price of those tickets! read more

Graceland is a must-see place if you're an Elvis or simply a music fan. We really just wanted to see the mansion, but bought the lowest level ticket, which included his airplanes and cars in separate buildings. Once Elvis passed away, Priscilla used his name and legacy to earn some long-lasting wealth for the family. Apparently, he was not very wealthy despite all his years of great success, for whatever reasons. So, in my opinion, it's a bit overdeveloped, and expensive to visit. The mansion itself is dwarfed by all the newer buildings across the street that contain restaurants and other exhibits such as his cars, airplanes, etc etc etc etc. The mansion is exactly as he left it, so it was pretty cool walking through as if he was still there. The upstairs was more of the personal living space, and that was off limits. I understand he passed away in the upstairs area. By today standards, it is still a humble "mansion" for someone who was a global entertainer. It's a must see place! read more

There's so much to say...I enjoyed the self-guided tour. The mansion isn't as large as I thought it would be, but there's a lot to see at the mansion. From oil paintings, badges, photos, horses, and antique furniture, the mansion has been maintained well. I was excited to see Elvis' gravesite. It was also exciting to learn about his family history. Graceland is gorgeous! And so much fun! We decided to spend the afternoon here before trekking to our next destination. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The house is like a blast from the past but so classy. We loved the family pictures, all the furniture, the jungle room, and even that green shag. The airplane tour was so cool. I need one now too. The cars, his costumes, the old footage, and all the shopping made for a superb rest of the day. My husband says we may never come back. He speaks for himself. I would love to return. I do worry for the fate of Graceland, but what a cool place! Elvis was quite a guy and his house is really something special. I loved the jungle room and the kitchen reminded me of my parent's kitchen when I was grown up. We even had (and my Dad still has) one of the chairs from his living. It's a real time capsule. I learned so much about the King here and have the utmost respect for the man. He was a good soul. Seeing all his clothes and gold records was really something to behold. Save your money and visit the meditation garden in the morning. If you don't care about seeing the inside of the mansion then save time and money and visit in the morning. You can come around 7 or 8 am and should be able to see the outside of the mansion and where Elvis is buried. No cost and you still get a piece of Elvis. read more

Graceland Mansion - Back of Graceland - Museums Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

We were staying in Downtown Memphis, so we took an Uber to the Graceland Mansion. You don't actually go to the mansion to start your tour, you start across the street at the huge ELVIS MEGAPLEX, which has all things Elvis! Sign up for your tour, and be on time. You will be handed an iPad in a case with a carry strap, and sanitized headsets. Try them out as directed - some in our group had to get new headsets since theirs didn't work. You will then be given a bus ride to the front of Elvis' mansion, Graceland. This place is basically a shrine to Elvis, and a cash producer for Lisa Marie. The facilities are well-maintained, and are basically a time capsule back to when the King died back in the late 1970's. Don't expect to see new stuff - it's as it was when he passed. You don't get to look at the second floor of the mansion - they keep that private since that's where he was when he passed away. You get the grand tour of everything else, including the TV Room, the Squash Court (with Elvis' pinball machine), the stables, and the stories that come with those places. After you see that and the graves, you get shuttled back across the street to the ELVIS MEGAPLEX where you can have lunch, see the cars, motorcycles, golf carts and whatever else Elvis owned, and a whole exhibit on singers who were influenced by Elvis, and a section on his military career. You can take a walk and see Elvis' airplane, a Convair 880 (which was fast for it's size at 612 knots, but never found a niche in the transportation market) and his smaller Westwind plane. You get to walk into the Convair, and look into the Westwind Plan about 3 hours to see everything. The lunch facilities (reviewed elsewhere) are basic and nothing spectacular, but not bad either. The bathrooms were clean. If you are looking for Elvis merchandise, well, they have everything you could need to scratch your Elvis Itch. Just bring money. read more
