PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS AWFUL PLACE!!! I searched for the "perfect" rehab for 5 days and I was so excited when I found Graceway. I wanted a p!ace that was religion friendly, all women, and a good counsolor. You are promised this beautiful story about the ladies supporting each other, Jesus friendly (you are not even allowed to go to church) wonderful support groups, etc. I could go on forever about how badly you are treated here! Especially if you have an opinion. Our "counsolor" was a woman that had RECENTLY finished the program herself. She would sit in her office with the doors wide open smoking an E-cigarette. She would talk on the phone using EXTREME PROFANITY and was constantly talking down to the ladies there. Where was the woman power and the lifting each other up and grow stronger together? This place was worse than the free detox center in downtown Atlanta. It was so bad that I WALKED OUT!!! That's right, I was 6 hours from home with no car and nowhere to go. Moms, Dads, Sisters, Brothers, ALL LOVED ONES, I BEG YOU NOT TO SEND YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HERE!!! There are so many wonderful rehabilitation centers with REAL PSYCHOLOGISTS and CERTIFIED counselors. She was so uncouth that as I was leaving she SCREAMS, "I think it's funny you're leaving and we all know you're going to fail at staying sober". Well, joke of a counselor, it has been 1 year 6 mos and 15 days since I have had a drink. I have obviously waited a long time to post something and that is because I was positive that I would sound petty. I will say rehab saved my life, just NOT THIS ONE. The next rehab i went to i checked to make sure that there was a licenced psychiatrist that I would be speaking with. This place was the worst 2 weeks of my life. The house is pretty but you realize as soon as you get there that it's not in a great neighborhood. My Dad even told me that he didn't feel comfortable leaving me there.A positive happy atmosphere is really needed with so many different personalities merged together. I wish I could explain the happiness I had when I got to my next rehab center. It was just wonderful! Supportive ladies, smiling faces, genuine concern when you were angry, terrified, or overjoyed, it didn't matter everyone was supportive. One last thing before I end my diatribe, there were SEVERAL ladies, over half really, that were COURT ORDERED to go to a center. Horrible and shameful! Do NOT believe the PR positive reviews and propaganda that they they put on the internet and in literature. All that glitters is definitely not gold. They claim that it's a spiritual home that empowers women. It's not spiritual at all. It's the worst religious catholic shame-and-fear-based program you can possibly imagine. Any new age ideas and quotes from Buddha or the Dali Lama, for example, are torn out of the women's personal diaries which are monitored for heresy. Yoga classes have no instructors. There are only worn-out mats and photo-copied hand-outs of yoga poses. The owner Debbie and the one and only so-called "councilor" Shannon regularly rant and rave, screaming the F-word and other obsenities at the residents for the most trivial things. The smallest infraction of their endless rules results in punishments such as increased work and "5 days of absolutely no talking with anyone". Fresh fruit and nutrition? If that means syrup-fruit snacks, Kool-aid and the cheapest processed food available in bulk, then sure. They own a retail bakery called The Bread House, but the only bread served at Graceway is cheap white loaf sliced bread. They give all the good bread to a local Mission (for a tax write-off?). They asked one resident to falsely claim that she worked at the bakery. When she refused (since she had only helped out there for one day), she was given the "no talking for 5 days" punishment. UNBELIEVABLE! But true! This prison-like christian camp can hold at least 23. At the time of this review there are only 6 women being brow-beaten and shamed there. That says a lot. This place should be shut down and investigated. They know absolutely nothing about trauma, and treats trauma abused women as "sluts" and cause further trauma and shame, and in fact contributes to CPTSD and making getting actual help even more difficult for someone who is now afraid of getting help due to their malpractice. There should be a class action lawsuit - they are destroying lives. They will tell their victims they are "still on drugs" while taking their money, until the money runs out, then will kick them out "maybe it was mental health after all". This is the worst possible thing you can do to someone who needs actual trauma help, and misguided parents are kept in the dark and communication is cut off - this is abuse. Everything I've heard about this place matches EXACTLY with the other reviews - they are bullies and abuse people and force them to clean, and teaches nobody any life skills, and actually robs people of their youth in critical moments, changing their life trajectory for the worse. read more
