Professor Inacio is one of the best instructors I've ever had. He has taught my daughter jiu jitsu for the past 4 years and we could not be more pleased with his instructions. He is very technical and informative. He knows how important it is to build a good foundation to prevent injuries and roll safely. Children do well in his program because it is structured. He has taught my daughter focus & discipline! The school itself is incredibly clean. Restrooms are extremely clean! Very nice mats! Nicely ventilated space! I highly recommend this school for both children and adults interested in jiu jitsu. I can't say enough great things about Professor Inacio and his school. We cannot wait to return. read more

That ain't as big a number as it may sound like. I was surprised that my wife for those decades was supportive of my beginning at such a school. I assumed then that her enthusiasm had something to do with a large life insurance policy on me that was in effect at that time, 2.5 years ago. The policy is lapsed, and she is still supportive, so maybe not. I am not a fast learner in this domain, but I am a learner. Sometimes I can even coach a move or two with my workout partners. Usually, I'm the hapless nail, rarely the hammer. This is not a bad thing. It is necessary. The people who show up and continue to show up to train seem to me to define a psychographic group that is a group that you benefit by being close to. Do hard things and keep doing them. Then do them some more. Then do them some more. Special people congregate here. Right here. Things change while practicing this discipline. For me, positively but slowly. For normal people, positively but much more quickly. This is the place to train and to get as effective as situations may require you to be later. read more

Update with dealing with these coaches, was told I will be refunded for the uniform and also taken care of the 60 day notice they don't do ever. I get a call back telling me I can't get the refund because I paid in cash? Telling me I would have to pay debit card/credit card to get the refund? How does that make sense? Get my money and pay me back? Why do you go back on your word? Don't tell a customer you can do something then don't follow through. Paying cash has nothing to do with being about to refund money. Great coaches, intense workouts, and just a lot of fun to train with these guys. The fundamentals class starts with 10 mins of cardio and moves into the weekly drill with 2-3 different techniques being taught with 5 mins instruction and 10 mins of drills, followed by cooldown. This school is fully staffed with amazing coaches and a kick a$$ Professor. My 9yr old has been attending this school for the last 4 months and he loves it here because he is learning different techniques and having fun at the same time. Personally, I like that the Coaches and Professor drive them to work hard in each session (which we go to 5x/week), but are so patient and supportive at the same time. Ultimately, they ensure the kids are safe, learning and having fun all at the same time. Often times, I see parents join the adult classes too because they make it so intriguing. This review is overdue and is intended for anyone who is thinking about getting their kids started in Jiu-Jitsu or themselves. My wife and I moved from out of state to McKinney recently and we actually already were making arrangements to join Gracie Barra before we even moved when we were fortunate to have the school located in McKinney. We already were excited to join because of the Gracie Barra's reputation, but now we know why Gracie Barra is so successful. Our kids were at a great school prior to moving, and one other school briefly before moving and they were both great with kids, no complaints.......but when I started the kids at Gracie Barra what really stood them out from the rest in our family's experience was the structure and organization for teaching Jiu-Jitsu. It's on another level! Not to mention we didn't know anyone when we moved to Texas with our 3 kids and Gracie Barra McKinney has always made us feel welcomed and like a 2nd family to us. My 2 oldest kids who are 9 and 7 just did their 1st competition recently and had a great experience and the Professor, Inacio Neto was there to support the kids and coach them while they were competing. Coach Israel and Coach David, I have to point out are IMPRESSIVE with how they teach and manage the kids classes. They know how to make it fun but number one priority is to teach quality Jiu-Jitsu. My wife jokes that Professor (Inacio Neto), Coach David, and Coach Israel are like enlightened, how they are so aware of everything in the class. Our kids love Jiu-Jitsu, other sports are great but I think of them as an activity for fun and team sports are great for learning teamwork. Jiu-Jitsu for my kids are fun and a skill that will help them for the rest of their lives.
