I trained consistently until I earned my Junior Black Belt, but I had to stop when my family moved away. When I began my freshman year of high school, I realized how much I missed the challenge and discipline of training, so I decided to rejoin Action at a location near us. A few years later, I'm still training and now on the path toward earning my full Black Belt. Returning to Action has been one of the best decisions I've made, not only because of the training and discipline I've gained, but also because of the friendships and instructors that continue to push me forward.

Over the last 8 years its been a long and rough ride, with dating someone and then having to let that person go because of my actions, and then growing to become taller than my instructor, I still get told I'm to tall to this day by that same instructor. I have been through the covid era which was rough in itself. Over the time I have worked on myself and now Im going for my first degree black belt. Time to finish everything and get my black belt.

The Instructors know names within moments of new students on the mat. They want to have an Action Karate family and they do a great job achieving that. Beyond the physical element of martial arts, the mental element is just as important. The life lessons that are discussed and the way to navigate age appropriate issues are second to none. He and the staff were determined to have him participate in the general classes. With the support of the Action Karate North Wales staff, he has been successful. He has gained physical strength. He has learned how to set priorities, as he often had to put off something he wanted to do in order to get in his 2 classes/week. During the COVID shutdown, he never missed a virtual class. Master Cashatt treated me with the utmost respect and helpfully challenged me to rise above my circumstances. Throughout my experience at the school, I have always felt respected and encouraged. Whether directly from Master Cashatt or from one of his excellent instructors, I learned to accept instruction with humility and respect under all circumstances. From the get-go, I was always encouraged to live by the five tenets of Taekwon-Do (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, indomitable spirit) both in word and in deed. I did not have to look far to find role models when it came to these tenets. I've come to regard Master Cashatt as one of my first and greatest mentors who has not only spurred me on to such great feats as earning my fourth degree black belt, but also earning a gold medal at the International Taekwon-Do Federation's 2010 World Championships in South Korea. While I could certainly continue lauding him and his school for the fantastic things they have done for me and my peers, I must also speak to how much of a family we are at Master Cashatt's school. Over the years, we have lost several students to tragedies, and we as a student body felt each loss. We shared in mourning and we worked hard to comfort each other in grief. We've raised thousands of dollars over the years in support for our members and our families in times of hardship and tragedy. Master Cashatt's school truly goes beyond the call of duty. Master Cashatt and fellow instructors even attended my father's memorial service this past April, something that is not required, not expected, but done nonetheless. I cannot fully express my appreciation for Cashatt's Taekwon-DO School Inc for the work that has been done in my life, but I do know that it is from this fantastic foundation that I will go on to spread this same love and passion for Taekwon-Do in the world. I started out doing a plank on the wall and am now able to do a "normal" plank and hold it. The one on one training is great. Every workout is catered to my needs and abilities. Melissa is good at listening to me when I tell her that I can't do something because my knees won't cooperate. She knows my limits and knows when she can push me a little harder. I've seen great improvements in myself and very happy I found this gym. They have it set up so that you are in the gym alone with your trainer or with a very small amount of other people. it's never too crowded and they are great about cleaning all the equipment after someone has been using it.

Since starting Aikido in 2007, I've trained in Dojos all across the country and as a result have met many Aikido teachers and schools. Kenkyukai is a seamless blend of authentic adherence to Aikido, with a light and welcoming atmosphere. At many dojos, this is like oil and vinegar - either too light hearted, or so serious you risk injury. I'm happy I started training here, and while I've taken various breaks from Aikido, am glad that I've jumped back in.

Despite my genetic hypermobility, I lacked the musculature and training to kick above my waist. Master Giamo recognized my untapped potential and took me under his wing. I am now a 5th Dan. I assist in instructing classes at Eagleville Taekwondo while continuing my mentorship under Master Giamo. His deep knowledge of Taekwondo and exceptional attention to detail have shaped me into not only a better practitioner and athlete but also a better teacher and judge.
