The highlights were poorly done, not light snd bright and because my hair is thick some are not even visible! 2 shampoos later and I am upset because I am going on vacation next week and came in specially to get bright highlights put in. I had a disappointing experience with The Opal Room involving a scheduling mix-up and a $75 no-show…read morecharge. I initially had an appointment with Janet and later rescheduled it online for Wednesday at 3:00. I received an email from The Opal Room confirming the Wednesday appointment. Later that morning, Jane from the salon texted me saying there had been another booking conflict and that Janet could see me at 4:00 "that same day." Because I had just received confirmation that my appointment had been moved to Wednesday, I understood "that same day" to mean Wednesday and agreed to 4:00. The salon apparently put the appointment back on Tuesday instead. I did receive automated confirmations showing Tuesday, which I unfortunately did not catch because I believed my direct conversation with Jane concerned the Wednesday appointment I had just rescheduled. When Janet contacted me Tuesday after I missed the 4:00 appointment, I explained that I believed I was scheduled for Wednesday and sent screenshots showing the Wednesday confirmation and my communication with Jane. Janet initially told me Wednesday had never been an option and said she couldn't keep up with all the times I had changed the appointment, even though I had personally changed it only once; the other changes came through salon communication. Later, she acknowledged that she could not see all of the communication between Jane, the salon, and me. Janet did offer to fit me in on another day without an additional charge since I had already been charged the $75 fee. However, after all of the confusion, I was no longer comfortable having the service done and asked for the no-show charge to be refunded instead. The salon ultimately refused to refund the $75 and relied on its cancellation policy, despite the documented scheduling confusion. I understand why salons have no-show policies, but I don't think charging the full service price was appropriate in a situation where their own scheduling communications contributed to the misunderstanding. I disputed the charge with my card issuer, and the dispute was resolved in my favor. I won't be returning. If you book here, I would strongly recommend double-checking every automated confirmation after any scheduling conversation with staff, even when you believe a new date and time have already been agreed upon.

After Meredith cut my hair for the first time, I was hooked. Then she got married and moved to NYC and my world fell apart. She recommended me to a friend of hers, after she moved, and I stayed with her until she decided to no longer do hair. Right after that, Meredith moved back and all was right again in the world.
