It's a warehouse looking building near Confluence Way which is for the most part never open. However on Wednesday nights at 5 PM something magic happens. The doors open, the bidders get their numbers and the auction begins! Bidders have an opportunity to see the items up for auction beforehand which sprawl in piles around the room. From what I can gather the majority of the items are from closed estates. Dead people's treasure, or just someone's crap? Who am I to judge? I just like a good deal on neat stuff! I picked up some Stampede dollars from 1982 which are in mint condition. Nobody bid against my measly $10 and I felt like I had emerged victorious! I also picked up a marble top side table with brass base for the same price. No one could defeat my immense bidding skills! In all seriousness I think I'll come here with $40 in my wallet every other week. It's a heck of a lot of fun! Things that I didn't bid on but thought were cool: - An electric train set that went for $150 - An electric guitar with whammy for just over $100 - A WWII dagger that went for uner $20 - A really old fold up Kodak camera with accordion old timey lens for $17.50 (I was super tempted) - An arc welder for $40 - A handheld snowblower (roughly the size of a weed wacker) for $2.50 The auction lasts for roughly an hour and a half and they have a hot dog stand for coffee and snacks. Pro tip: Nobody bloody well bids on the furniture! It's really good furniture! You could seriously furnish an entire house for like.... $100. No lie.

An example is when there are four boxes of coffee within a larger cardboard box and he asks "how many boxes to you want?", he is not always referring to the larger cardboard box. Also, be careful about store returns, especially electronics. I bought a Bosch Tasimo coffee maker and when got home, I discovered that it doesn't work. On the other hand, I've got some bargains. I bought a diamond necklace with a $5,000 appraisal for $500.

My husband and I have purchased a few things with Auction Depot. Recently we purchased an item…read morethat was missing a part inside an enclosed box. Not the auction house fault because the box came sealed. When we notified Auction Depot about the part missing they were quick to get back to us and said they would look into it. Within a week they found us the missing part and we were quite impressed that they went out of their way to do that! A lot of times at auctions you buy what you buy and that means sometimes parts are missing. We were impressed by Auction Depots service and will continue to buy from there :)!

It took an investigation of my bank to correct the refund difference. In addition to that a certificate of authenticity has not been corrected. I contacted them after my mother died to inquire about consigning some sets of vintage china and an antique bed frame to their January auction. You can imagine the stress of trying to handle her estate while grieving her death. Several months, many further e-mail inquiries and phone calls later, and January came and went without an answer. One time I did get a call from Matt Riches after complaining that he wasn't returning my calls. He was snotty on the phone, calling me "ma'am" in a very condescending tone. He asked me to take photos of the items and e-mail them, which I did, the next day. No response. Finally I sent an e-mail saying, look, if you don't want to work with me, just say so and I will move on. Then a call saying, oh yes, we may be able to do something. That was the last I heard. I spoke with several people at the estate sale saying that they were awful to deal with from a buyer's point of view as well. I won't find that out for myself because I will never try to deal with them again. I don't recommend that anyone else try, either.

This is a very long store with the paint selection in the back. The pricing looks pretty high in here but it looks to be a one stop shop. The women behind the counter were dealing with a customer and they looked like they were giving personalised service. The place has furniture, lamps and decoration accessories that is a bit conservative for my aesthetics but would be pleasing to the local Mission cliental. The place is tastefully laid out and I am sure you get what you needed here if you are renovating details of your home.

My adventures as a new homeowner continue. Because I'm a mad baller rollin' on dubs with sky-high…read morestacks (read: young and stupid) I'm repainting my entire house. That means I need a lot - and I mean a LOT - of paint. I came here one afternoon with a list of paints picked out by my interior decorator (Dasan Interiors, look her up!) and a wallet that knew it was about to get the diet of its life. The nice woman behind the desk took down my order and helped me calculate how much paint I would need. Unfortunately we hit a snag right away. I was buying Pratt & Lambert Matte/Flat finishes, which aren't big sellers for them. As a result, they didn't have enough of the base color to mix my paints. OH NO! That was a huge problem, because I officially moved into the house in 5 days and they wouldn't get a new shipment for 2 - 3 weeks. What's a man to do? Luckily, in stepped a very nice German-sounding man whose name escapes me. Together, they deduced that I could use a C2 paint for the base, then use the Pratt and Lambert as my second coat - and everyone would win! Babes wouldn't even notice that my base coat wasn't the same as my top coat. Oh, I'm a sly devil alright. So I waited about 35 minutes (I didn't have a watch or I certainly would have timed it for all my devout Yelp fans), got the paint, loaded up my car and sped off to adorn my dudeplex in the finest shades of gray. One thing you should know: Paint is absurdly expensive. Just painting my house will wind up running me over $1,000, I'm sure of it. But at least my walls will look nice when I'm sitting on the floor because I can't afford furniture. All in all my experience here was excellent, no complaints. That is - until I see whether or not that bottom base coat actually looks okay or not. Fingers crossed.

I think it's smart that they have both modern and country style crockery. One of the women on staff checked their order catalog for me because I was curious about some items I couldn't find. She noted that they order items for customers if necessary. Both ladies on hand seemed very friendly and knowledgeable about the products. Here's my story: My mom had purchased a casserole dish as a gift for me from this store. I wanted to return it because it was too large and the store didn't have any smaller ones in stock. The clerks refused to make the return, despite that I had the store receipt in hand, because I was outside of the 7 day purchase date and my credit card wasn't the one that purchased the dish. I explained that my mom was very busy and I wasn't sure when she'd be able to come in, and I have a small baby at home and this was the first time I could come in. They said they were sorry but they couldn't do anything. I asked for cash back instead, and they refused saying they couldn't make an exception for one customer. My problem was that they were claiming they couldn't do anything, but they actually could and were just refusing to do so. I buy most of my speciality kitchen-ware from Savour, which is a cute shop in Inglewood. Its customer service is much better and I love its products. I will never shop at Zest again.
