We visited 3 local breweries with wicked barely being my favorite. Each place you visit you get to sample 3 to 4 beers. The bus driver allowed us to control the radio between stops. And I wasn't about to call out of work since my job was right around the corner. I have been on a few tours but haven't seen many tour guides this knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the place they are presenting. Gary, our tour guide and the president of this company, was dressed in costume as Andrew Jackson, whom the city was named after. Did you know he was state governor? Me neither. The tour my son and I attended was the Tuesday tour which takes you to a rooftop view as well as the underground view in a tunnel and underground vault. Sadly the restaurant in the tunnel and the top floor cafe in the bank of america building were no longer there (but good thing I took my son to both places years ago!), but we still go to learn tons about the city and saw some cool places. We went to a rooftop restaurant with a gorgeous view of the river. It was on a day that it was closed, so the tour group had the place to ourselves. Afterwards, we went downstairs and down into tunnels from one building to another. In one of the tunnels, we went to an underground vault only accessible through the tour. The door to the vault was still functional. It was really cool to open it and see some historic documents inside, and then surprisingly a fallout shelter! Along the path, we discussed some historical photos and learned about the changes in the city throughout the decades as well as some interesting historical tidbits, such as the city's previous life as the hub of movie industry during the silent era. Afterwards, we checked out some of the murals by James Weldon Johnson Park (named after the civil rights activist and writer) and learned about the original sculpture that inspired one of the murals. The sculpture "Lift Every Voice and Sing," named after the James Weldon Johnson poem, was created by the local artist Augusta Savage from Green Cove Springs. I really appreciate the inclusion black historical residents on this tour. This is something that history books rarely mention. Great tour, super informative, fun and interesting. I look forward to trying one of the other tours in the future.

This tour really helped add context to my visit to Cumberland Island. I knew it was an island…read morepreviously inhabited by rich people, ending with the main mansion crumbling in flames and arson, as well as a herd of wild horses left over from Spaniard and gilded age times. But Deb, our guide, added a lot of color to each character, and she educated us on the island, the ecology, and basic science (Deb is a connoisseur of science and history). I learned about the life cycle of the horses, what brackish water means, and the basic rhythms of the islands. I learned about how the enslaved people on the island lived, and about the park service and their mission. The tour is about 2.5 hours and covers about a mile over flat ground. It doesn't take you to the beach, so you need to plan for that before or after. You do get to see plenty of horses. The tour costs 42.40 and doesn't include ferry costs (around 20 bucks each way, 45.20 total both ways with taxes and fees). Deb was engaging, fun, educational, and gave us plenty of time to stroll, with plenty of rest breaks too. I had a little trouble finding the group (there were only three of us, so that was also a treat), and she called me to make sure the group didn't leave without me. I came to the island way before the tour and considered skipping it because I had made it to the beach and thought about just staying on the beach. What more could a tour of the ruins give me? I had already seen them. But I trudged back to the dock to meet the tour, and so glad I did. The tour enhanced my visit so much. I got to learn of debutants, rich playboys, lusty affairs, community gossip, and more. There is a different tour with a different company that is a six hour tour on a van. Very nice driver and adequate bus but do not book unless you pay cash the day of…read more To begin with, the reservation service is a third party and cannot do much besides coordinate dates. I called three times to get an understanding of the amount of times the bus would be allowed to stop. They told me three, I wanted confirmation as that seemed ridiculous if you rent it as a private occasion. Finally after 3 calls and two weeks later the owner Vince called back to confirm as many stops. The delayed response should have been the first sign to not proceed with the rental. The reservation company quoted me at $135/hour. I agreed at $135 a hour for 5 hours at $675 plus taxes. The day of the transaction I received a charge for $818.83. I text the owner and he said there was a miscommunication but generally they add a $50 tip for the driver. I was fine with that but there is still a remaining balance. After several text messages within the last weeks, Vince continues to side step the refund. His first excuse is that my credit card payment was still trying to clear after a full week. Then he said he would PayPal me $75. The refund amount isn't the the issue, it's lack of transparency and the unwillingness to make right after agreeing to refund for a certain amount. My advice is to look for a more reputable company or agree to pay only in cash up front the day of, don't get treated the way I did. I'll post an update if anything changes. I created a dispute with my credit card company. Wish me luck. ++++ Update 11/22/18 - Owner finally responded and provided credit to my account. He said he never had issues before crediting in the past. However, there were a couple reasons provided previously why it wasn't working. Why offer paying me thru PayPal then not delivering on that too? Nonetheless, the refund came after a few weeks that involved several text messages and a credit card dispute. He apologized and acknowledge he should have been more communicative in this process.

He was quick to send over a quote and payment info. We had 8 adults and 5 kids and had a great experience riding to the baseball game and back on 4th of July. Our driver Mark was wonderful- so friendly and easy going but also a safe driver. He knew the best place to drop off, pick up and how to get home. We had a blast playing our own music and on the way home the little ones had plenty of room to snooze. I highly recommend and hope I get to ride with them again!
