Stumbled upon Gran Caffe Rione VIII... to our luck. Only five reviews so far on Yelp and it's totally outstanding. We ordered and then saw more things to order and then ordered even more. Very very tasty. See the photos. Try it out.

We stumbled into this adorably chic cafe/wine bar in the Jewish Quarter, because we were starving and wanted a quick bite to eat. What a glorious surprise!!! Not only were the chocolate and cream-filled croissants the most magnificent we've ever had (& we've had LOTS!), the cafe also had wine (including natural wine), craft beer, cocktails, huge selection of coffees, many other delicious pastries, pizza, sandwiches, pastas & side vegetables, a chocolate counter (also packaged to-go as gifts), and the most incredible atmosphere with walls lined from floor to ceiling with wine. We were out and about that day, but had we not been on the move, we would have stayed and eaten and drank more! And the people working behind the bar were so kind and nice. Absolutely go there any time of day! We can't wait to go back the next time we're in Rome to hang and try out their amazing wine selections!

The most delicious pastries and friendly staff! Also have an amazing wine collection. This place is friendly to tourists and you will see tons of locals coming in and out. Counter service or sit down. Cool brick building and inviting atmosphere. Relax and enjoy.

Very good ambiance. Friendly staff. They have a bit of everything- wine, cocktails, coffee, pastries, sandwiches, pizza. And they have craft beer. Go get some!

Rome, Italy Jewish Quarter Great spot in Rome to grab breakfast, located steps away from our hotel but hidden away and a place where the locals go versus tourists. Great coffee, pastries, no time to make a dent into all of the incredible looking pastries...a discovery here which I am so glad we got to try before heading out of town....the tramezzino sandwich...sliced boiled eggs, arugula, mayo, tomato served on a large triangular crustless bread, like a GIANT tea sandwich, made for a great breakfast treat! The cafe has bar service were you can stand and have your breakfast in pastries and coffee or you can have tables service in there is an extra charge as listed on my picture. This cafe also serves lunch and dinner but we were not around during those times to try it out. The inside of this cafe is nice and clean and modern. Absolutely loved our visits here!

Came here once we arrived in Rome. First I just want to say the staff is extremely friendly and so helpful for tired travelers. Our experience made us come back for drinks and regroup to plan on what we we do for the rest of the evening. The spritz they made for my wife was top tier excellent. I tip my hat off to the staff, I watched them help other guests and not once did the service change. Salvadoré was out go to while we were here!!!

Ham and cheese like you've never had. Will make you cry

We were surprised to learn that the restaurant did not actually open until 12:30, and found ourselves with fifteen minutes to kill. Luckily, Roscioli Caffè Pasticceria was right next door. We got seated immediately, a relief given both our timeframe and our slight fatigue after a long walk from Vatican City. We got a small table on the cute little patio, and service was prompt and friendly. We told our waiter about our lunch reservation, and he made sure we were able to leave on schedule. We ordered cappuccinos, which were €3 apiece and delicious, thick with foam. I don't drink coffee at home, but after this one, I enjoyed cappuccinos every day in Italy. So cheap and tasty. The café also offers a robust food menu, and seems like a great place to get a Roscioli meal if you can't land a reservation at the popular (and amazing) salumeria. I'd recommend Roscioli Caffè Pasticceria whether or not you're also eating at the restaurant.

I am a huge pesto fan, so I grabbed several jars of their signature paste. Our group of three ended up trying everything from a red-white sauce; eggplant to prosciutto. The slices being ultra-thin crust just means you can eat more, so it's a win win for all! Really wish I would have tried their other food items though, but it was more of a late night snack.
