Booked this hotel and had a high hope for it. It didn't exactly meet my expectations but it was definitely a comfortable stay but a few things could be improved. First, there was not enough body wash to use but they did have a note saying we could request for more if needed. But we were too tired to even ask for more. Second, the sink outside the bathroom was very low and it's not super convenient for any adult to use it (and I am short too). Not sure if this sink is for kids only or not. Third, the chair in our room was in a really bad shape and I almost fell at least 3 times. Lastly, the shower's pressure is so low but not to the point we could not wash our hair. The decorations inside the hotel in the lobby is very beautiful. They have a spa too but we did not have time to use it. Front desk was friendly and polite. Our dinner at the hotel's restaurant was really good and satisfying. Erick gave spot-on recommendations (split our salad and also our dessert). We value not being taken advantage of, and as we have smaller appetites, splitting was just right! The chocolate cake was tasty & fresh - but the carrot cake was a bit too heavy. The gift shop has something for everyone - and all price ranges. Super quiet to sit on the patio and enjoy the aspens shivering in the breeze. Our one complaint is the hotel property seems both tired and dated - especially for brand-name prices. Our room felt cramped - but we didn't spend much time in it. Stayed overnight for a weekend trip to the Grand Canyon. Check in went smoothly, desk clerk was courteous. We stayed on the first floor and I loved that our room was right outside the spa area. I thought the inside set up was really nice. I haven't been to a hotel that had this before. On the first floor, all the doors that faced the inside area had chairs outside them to people watch. The balcony's also faced the inside spa/dining area. We did go into the spa that evening. After maybe 15-20 min (for me, my friend was affected faster) we had that burning sensation in our eyes from the spa chemicals. It was pretty bad. I can't imagine eating in that area with those chemicals! It's not that big of an area so I'm not sure how you could avoid the chlorine smell. I thought our room was decent. It was clean, beds were fine. The bathroom was a little small and the shower had the worst water pressure but overall it was adequate. It wasn't till checkout that the trip went downhill. I checked out early cause I was doing a morning hike into the canyon. The young female desk clerk that check me out asked my name and I gave it. She repeated another name and I said no and gave my name again. Her response was, 'oh it's confusing cause there are so many foreigners that come here'. I'm sorry, what??? First, my name is not unusual and secondly not a foreigner. I told her that her response was rude. She doubled up by saying she didn't mean it as such and then tried to explain herself but wasn't doing herself any favors by doing so. I told her that it was rude and unnecessary. I know that I do not want to stay or give my money again to a hotel that has racism & bigotry right at the front desk. Especially since the Grand Canyon has people from ALL OVER the world who visit. Pro: close proximity to the Grand Canyon South rim entrance (about 10 mins). Our mini fridge worked and there was an indoor hot tub open until 10pm. Cons: The bed was small and old and you could hear the springs squeak when you sat on it, along with the bottom corners of the bed being higher than the middle of it. The hot tub was nice to have but only two jets on one side of it worked. Our room was pretty dark since the balcony opened to the indoor hot tub area. They give you a small slip with a Wi-Fi password that has a unique password for each device for up to a week. To get there, you would turn into the side of the IMAX theater and go behind it for the check-in area and the hotel itself. read more

As soon asI stepped in the room I was disappointed. The so called pink chair and couch had horrible stains on it. I had to ask for a sheet to cover them because I wasn't sitting on them. I am going to grin and bear the room, but we won't be back. Ductless heat pump had no remote. It was noisy and difficult to program. The contrast of the display was terrible and was over head and impossible to read with bifocals. Bed was too soft. Sitting on the edge it sunk 8". Coffee only had powdered creamer. No lids for the coffee in the office Location was good, right next to EV chargers and the IMax theater. Our room was located in a separate building and not the main hotel, so I assume it is an older building and it seemed like an older building. Bed was clean and linens nice. Bathroom was clean but not as nice as the pictures on the website lead you to believe. When we returned from eating our room smelled like someone had taken a #2 in our bathroom. We even joked about it. But obviously no one did so we surmised we must share a bathroom vent with someone next to us. 2 hrs later after I showered it still smelled faintly of sewer. (We are here for 2 days so if it still smells in the morning will ask to switch rooms) (update smell is gone)The guy in the room next to us sneezed and the walls are not very insulated. We could also hear the low murmur of people talking in the other room. 4 packages of coffee are provided with two tea bags for in the morning. The single serve coffee maker put out about an inch of coffee at a time so even after 4 times cup was barely half full (and yes i followed instructions) may need to be descaled or just switched out. Luckily there is a starbucks down the street. There is a tv, microwave, fridge, table with two chairs, alarm clock with plug ins for iphones. We also had a small patio for fresh air. Service was speedy and friendly at check in and they allow dogs which is nice. I am sure they do what they can with an old building and i feel the price is fair. read more

Not a great experience. Food in restaurant was not good. Neither was the breakfast buffet. The check in staff were not friendly. No one was behind the counter when we arrived for 15 min. I stood in line with other families following me. Finally when the gentleman appears, he abruptly said "question?" He was so unfriendly. The rooms we dirty with stained pillow sheets. We found a diaper under the bed, not sure if it was used or not. Found a dead big in bathroom. The floor was dirty. The towel rack was broken. We stayed for two nights. 7/31-8/2. We will never stay again. I did not complain to the desk because it was the same unfriendly gentleman behind the desk and I just wanted to get out of there. I added pics of our room as evidence. My understanding is that this place rocks during high season. Bus loads of tourists. Rooms clean, but basic. Only double beds. Breakfast was reasonable and service efficient and friendly. Food good. Two eggs and toast $10.00, which is reasonable compared to several others places we have been staying. No info on the bar or other meals. The Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel is comfortable and nice but on the cold winter nights their heating unit in my read was placed way to high for me to read the buttons, had to find another traveller to help me. The bathroom never got warmed and sometimes in the night the heating unit when down to 69 degrees way too cold for me and my 7lb dog. I'm so mad at myself for not looking at these reviews before I booked this hotel. I booked through another site and the reviews were really good. Boy were they wrong. So much so, I'm wondering if they were actually real reviews. Booked here for 1 night. Booked due to great reviews, proximity to the Grand Canyon, pictures, and due to their having a hot tub. I knew as soon as I walked into the hotel that I likely made a mistake. We checked in pretty late (after 7 for a 3pm check in) and there was still a long line with a large party among others waiting. It took about 20-25 before even beginning to check us in. The woman at the counter apologized for the wait and was super friendly so I chalked it up to an isolated incident. Everything went downhill from there. Room was on the floor of main building. It was difficult finding how to get to the second floor. On the way up the steps there was a open beer can and paper. We entered the room and were witness to and outdated motel look. The room also smelled like someone smoked a pack of menthols and someone tried to clean the smell out with bleach. I told my travel companion I wanted to switch out the room but due to it being late and an only one night stay they told me to not worry about it. BIG MISTAKE. Check out went well but later that day and I mentioned the smoke smell to the counter staff who stated they would make a note of it. I saw a $200 fee on my credit card. I called and was informed that I would need to tell the manager who wouldn't be in until tomorrow. I spoke with the manager next day and she declined to refund the fee stating she found ash in the room and the rooms were non smoking. Seriously? Then she replied to my review taunting me to call my credit card company. Do NOT stay here. Use the other updated hotels along the same route... Squire Resort, Red Feather Inn, Holiday Inn etc. Otherwise you chance outdated accommodations and bullying based on made up evidence. read more

The only positive of this Hotel is that it is 3 miles near to Grand Canyon South Rim Rest is all cons. 1. Coffee glasses do not have lids and are made of low-quality Styrofoam with only one box of coffee creamer which was also 25% full. 2. Mattresses are so old, that as soon as you lay down it feels you are inside a pit, I think either they picked up mattress which were discarded by home owners and put on street with the sign "Free", or mattresses are 30 years old. 3. They disguise their hotel behind the keyword "free breakfast", we booked this hotel from the third-party booking site based on this filter criteria. On checking in, when I asked the same from front-desk she showed the restaurant menu and stated you will get 10% off. 4. This deceptive marketing technique is not a great way to ensure you have a repeat customer. I only picked a one star because there's no option they have a zero star! Let you tell my story... ( I am disabled) The entire staff ( including management) didn't take my situation serious. I got no help from the staff at all!! I fell down a flight of stairs during the power outage. Due to their negligence by not having emergency lighting in the stair exits! This is a code violation.... I started calling from 7 am before management was in as was told I would get a call!!! Never got call from management! It finally got so bad I called the front desk and asked them to contact the fire department..... I waited about 10 minutes and nothing, so I called them myself, and the dispatcher confirmed your hotel never contacted them!!!!!!!!!!! After the paramedics were there they told me that I needed to stay for about an hour a and half to two hours before I could hit the road they (so I would be safe to drive) Management at this point finally came up when the ambulance showed up) However, they sent management away because of how they were acting! The manager and called me maybe not even an hour later asking how much longer I need it before I could check out!!!!!! When I told her what the paramedics said she's got frustration! Luckily the stairs I fell down or carpeted!! I ended up with some rug burn on my shoulder blade around my neck and it looks like I got a piece of metal in my arm that is pushing itself out! read more

I'm a little torn on this place. The good- I was able to get a last minute reservation at an okay price. Hotel is minutes away from the south rim entrance. Room was clean. I had no problem finding good parking. The bad- The layout of this hotel makes no sense. We could not figure out how to get upstairs to our room for 20 minutes. We couldn't find the elevators and kept having the use the stairs or going outside to find the outdoor elevator... in the snow.... We finally figured it out on the second day. The staff is very unhelpful. Every basic question, their answer was "I don't know".... REALLY!? It felt almost on purpose. The food in the on site restaurants is garbage. First of all, Steven at the lobby did a terrific job making sure that we got to our room promptly after an 8-hour drive. We got a room that was on the third floor that was very quiet and away from the crowds. The room was very well-cleaned and maintained (no issues with housekeeping, they cleaned the room on time. I took a solo trip to the Grand Canyon and I found a decent deal for a 1-night stay here at Canyon Plaza Resort. Located in the small town of Tusayan, you'll miss it if you drive just 1 mile past entering town. It's tucked behind another building, next to the Imax Theater. Don't do what I did and pull up to the 2nd building and try to find the lobby. I circled for days, while needing to use the bathroom really badly, never finding another soul. You need to drive to to the lobby which is located at the faaaar end of the building. Check-in was easy breezy and I checked into my 3rd floor room. Pros: -Plenty of parking -Room was spacious and clean. -Separate bathroom with a 2nd sink right outside. Perfect for couples who get ready together and need 2 vanities. -Cable TV-perfect to watch all by my lonesome self -Full bar downstairs. I wanted to go down to make some friends/met some travelers, but I was the only one there! I'm such a social butterfly, I wish it was more busy! They have a later night menu available for when the restaurant closes -Prompt and pleasant service -Close to the Grand Canyon!! The main reason why I booked here. Only 15 drive in the morning to catch the sunrise! -Free wifi -In room fridge Neutral: -Restaurant: didn't eat there but let's just say "vegan" isn't on the menu. Good thing I had leftovers from earlier! -Weird balcony that overlooks the indoor jacuzzi area. I thought it was strange but I'm sure there are people out there who enjoy it. Cons: -Heater is louud. Visiting Grand Canyon. Staying here for 3 nights. Staff here are great. They helped me out with reservations and took care of booking issue that was their problem. I noticed that all the staff was treating other customers the same. Place has so many rooms. Very well laid out and super clean. Our room was a single king. Has a nice outside deck with chairs and a table. Room is large and clean. Fridge and great flat screen tv. No complaints. It sets back off the main road just south west of the IMAX theater. Seems to be a fav for families. See lots of kids. We stayed on third floor, always good to be on top floor in place where there are lots of kids. No noise above you then. read more

We stayed here off season which probably makes some of the amenities a lot better. The hot tub area was great with the lighted trees and indoors especially since we were there during the winter and had tired sore muscles from hiking. The rooms were clean and spacious. I like how there is an outdoor entrance to your room and an inside one so it's easy to get stuff in from your car and easy to get to the pool without going outside. The staff was all very friendly. We had a great experience at the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel. We got in late around 9:00 and went to the Wagon Wheel Cafe for a quick bite to eat before the kitchen closed. The food was great and reasonably priced, with good service and friendly staff. The room itself was clean and had a nice sized clean bathroom. A/C worked great and had comfortable beds. The hotel was perfect for our needs and expectations, not sure what's with all of the negative reviews. The hotel is an easy 7 mile drive to the Grand Canyon, so for the price and location I really don't see how you can complain! read more

Need to get this review in here because the bad reviews terrified me about this place after we booked it for a night post Rim-to-Rim hike. We didn't eat here or patron any areas of the hotel except our room but we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. We had a huge suite with a separate sitting room, a large mini fridge, bathtub, big king sized bed. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean, we were happy. It's a bit run down and probably needs updating but don't believe the hysterical, fear mongering reviews on here at all. So no matter where you stay, really--on one side of the street or the other--you'll be within an easy walking distance from both the start and finish lines. Since it didn't really matter where we stayed, then, we booked the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel, an even easier 50 yards from the finish. And as I've stated before, for out-of-town runs, lodging-to-race proximity (for me, anyway) is always key. And it's not bad at the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel, not bad at all. The price is rather high, more than what you'd otherwise like to spend, I'm sure. But if you've come to Tusayan--to run the Half or to visit the Grand Canyon itself--as small as the town is and with what little competition it shares, hotels are going to be pricey. The Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel will be no different, the amenities and rooms themselves left underwhelming. read more

We ate there at their small restaurant called Red Wagon or something (forgive me if it's wrong) it was their first day reopening after COVID 19 pandemic and our server Carlos was the best helping us with everything!!!
