A number of years ago, before the COVID scam, this hotel had a Russian presence strong enough to give it a sordid and gloomy flavor much too strong for us ( no, we are not Ukrainian). But now this is largely gone, and the Imperiale is Italian again, as it used to be.
It is a very pleasant small grand hotel. The rooms are pleasing and spotless. The view over the bay, with the white mountains (marble, not snow) behind rising over it is delightful. The service is Italian at its best, warm, but correct. The Imperiale does not boast of its restaurant (as the Byron does, for good reason) and the menu is small. But the chef invites special requests, and the standard of execution is high. There is a shuttle into town (very close) 24/24.
Highly recommended! read more
