This gem of a boutique hotel is located on a beautiful spot in Liguria overlooking the ocean. We have never had rooms with views as good as the one we got at this hotel. We went toward the end of the season, and the hotel was not crowded at all. The service because of this was magical. Every member of the staff was gracious, helpful, and kind, and made sure that every desire or request, from room service, to reservations at the spa were accommodated to perfection. We came at night when the view was nonexistent and initially was underwhelmed by the room (it is charming and rustic), but have grown to love the space and have felt extremely comfortable here. I would love to be able to control the thermostat myself from within the room, as we didn't want to have to call the front desk for something as minimal as to turn the temperature one degree up or down, but they happily helped us out when we needed them. The outdoor jacuzzi and sauna (for reservation only) was beautiful and amazing, and their reservation system ensured privacy for the guests using it. It was genius! We also went to their indoor spa section which had steam rooms, aromatherapy rooms, saunas, and a relaxation room. This was reservation only as well which ensured privacy for us when it was our time. I've never seen facilities like this reserved just for a couple. The restaurant at this hotel is truly excellent, much better than anything we've had in Amalfi or Como. During the three times we ate there, we tried everything on the menu and it was all delicious. I would recommend to the kitchen to have a slightly different rotating menu during the week so that guests who want to stay on the property to eat have a bit of variety. They explained quite well, but the parking is about a 5 minute walk / 2 minute electric cart ride away from the resort, and we had a bit of trouble finding the secured parking area when we first arrived (at 11:30 PM the first night) Shout out to all of the staff, but especially Filippo, who was a gentle giant who was a jack of all trades and was seemingly everywhere all at once. He drove the golf cart, helped us with our bags, helped move furniture and things around the property, answered the phones after hours, and we even saw him in the kitchen helping the chef make food for us! The bathroom and shower were also really spacious. Jessica and Alberto were very friendly and helpful and helped us to make dinner reservations, bought our Cinque Terre cards at a discounted rate, told us some hiking tips, and prepared takeaway breakfasts when we had to checkout early. They were super responsive on email for the months leading up to the trip too which we really appreciated. Mary Rose was very friendly and made delightful cappuccinos, eggs, and pancakes for breakfast every morning. The rest of the breakfast spread (lemon tarts, jam tarts, chocolate brownies, croissants, yogurt, granola, bread, cheese, meats, cereal, juices) was also incredible. They will hold your bags for you if you need it, either before check-in or after check-out. We can honestly say that we would come back and stay here again in a heartbeat! The room and hotel property was spotless; the grounds well taken care of with lemon, orange, and olive trees with fragrant flowers. The hotel's proximity to the old town is ideal for walking and for getting to the train and/or ferry for excursions. They have thought of every convenience from welcoming snacks in the refrigerator to printouts & helpful tips about the area. Bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner & body wash. A hair dryer is provided. Ample plugins. After a long day of hiking, a refreshing shower & cooling air conditioning was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was set on the main balcony with an option to eat indoors. It was so delicious with everything you could want - bacon & eggs, fresh juices, meats & cheeses, yogurt & granola, fresh fruit, and delicious homemade desserts every day. (The lemon tart was my favorite) Matteo made it so easy for us to purchase a discounted Cinque Terre card that included the trains & a reservation for Via dell'Amore. He was very helpful about the ferry schedule - it is a short walk to catch the ferry. Ask about Restaurant recommendations - (Galin was our favorite). Everyone is so kind & helpful with such great service - even filling your water bottles with ice & water for your hikes, towels for the beach, and quick, reasonable laundry service. And don't miss Carla's fantastic Pesto Cooking Class! It was such fun & so delicious to eat after we made it. We even got the recipes. Make sure to reserve your spot. While the hotel is up a small, steep hill, we were able to walk up pulling our wheeled carryon luggage without a problem. The hotel will arrange a taxis for you from the train station if needed. They also have car parking, which is rare. Once at the hotel, you can walk through the lovely lemon grove down some steps arriving right on the main street of Old Town. The best of both - scenic quiet hillside, yet still in town. There is a small beach in Old Town and also just a 10 -15 minute walk to New Town beaches. Easy walk to the train station and the trails. The hospitality and location are the best you will experience, well worth the price. We stayed 4 glorious nights & I hated to leave. I feel Carla & Matteo are our dear friends now. The front desk staff at Hotel Margherita were really nice and helpful in booking a room for us. We ended up in a really nice two story Junior Suite. The rooms were clean, modern and had a large balcony that overlooked the town. We would get wonderful aromas of bakeries and restaurants located below. They also had a daily complimentary breakfast which included a variety a pastries, fruit, eggs for hard boiling, variety of juices and coffee. I really enjoyed my daily morning chocolate torte. :-) Wi-Fi was also complimentary. The hotel was recently renovated since the flooding in the area in late 2011. I love the cream colored leather couches they have in their lobby. And they have a hotel bar which was nice to have available after a long day at the beach or hiking in the area. I reminisce about sitting in their perfectly air conditioned lobby with a cool drink. Hotel Margherita is also perfectly located in the middle of the town of Monterosso. It was fun to wake up, sit in the balcony and watch the locals opening their shops, cafes opening for the morning, fishermen going to the water, and tourists being tourists. We had various great restaurants right below our hotel and it was a short stroll down the hill to the beach.

Most spoke acceptable English for hotel workers. Very pleasant to deal with. Our room had a good sized bedroom and a setting room with a couch. All the walls and most of the ceiling had murals on them. Bathroom had a separate shower and a whirlpool bathtub. Everything looked new and very clean. The breakfast spread was the largest I have seen in years. There were oranges to make fresh juice. A juicer to juice fresh vegetables. Cook your own soft or hard boiled eggs. Fruit, cheese, sweets, yogurt, coffee ect. I am sure I have missed some breakfast items. The only thing missing was fish that you find in Northern European breakfasts. In the afternoon you could get coffee or tea by asking. The one time I did this they did not charge me and I do not know if they charged the travel company. The only slightly negative item was our room overlooked a kitchen that made noise late into the night. With the window closed it was fine.

The staff are really lively (and very nice) and the hotel is quite well positioned to get to anywhere in Levanto and only a short 7-8 minute walk to the head of the hiking trail to get to Monterosso and the rest of the cinque Terrà ) though I personally recommended the train as it's a 3 hour hike one way!!! The Oasi is actually on a quiet sidestreet but there's an alley that will feed you right onto one of the main thoroughfares in Levanto. We loved the open patios that each room opened up onto ( ground floor) they were great to sit a people watch or party with your neighbors. If you need to be shit in they ubiquitous Italian shutters will keep you safe and dark for sure. They have a great breakfast where you can even custom order dishes and in the room fridge there is even private hotel label beer!! It's also available at the desk/bar and it's really good!!! Bottom line is whenever I'm in Levanto I'm staying at the Oasi!!
