The service was fairly fast and our waitress really friendly. The lunch menu had a nice range plus some healthy items and some 'Create your own' sandwich options. The food was quite good, not the absolute best but great for a nice lunch. I got a chicken burger with lovely avocado and juicy chicken. Some of my friend got pizzas and I have to say, I can't comment on taste, but they looked really good!

After a spot of late night Christmas shopping at Carindale last Thursday, it seemed the perfect opportunity to try this popular Italian restaurant. We were happy to wait for a table seeing we hadn't made a booking but I would recommend anyone wanting to try this restaurant to make a reservation. The waitress made it clear that they drew a large crowd even on weeknights. Unfortunately on that night, the food did not live up to its reputation. Our scallop and calamari pasta was bland and had to be spiced up with lots of Tabasco and chilli flakes. The lasagne was average but I suppose I just had higher expectations given the recommendations of the place. Since we've been inundated with different cooking shows on television, the home cook is a lot more adventurous making and tasting food. On the odd occasion, I even make my own pasta and store it in airtight containers. While the Roman Empire Bar probably doesn't beat fresh home-made pasta, it is a decent night out at a fair price.

This place has been serving the Carina community since 1983, and honestly, you can taste that experience in every dish. We went for a date night and the atmosphere was spot on -- dim lighting, warm service, genuinely romantic without being over the top. I can see why they've picked up OpenTable's Diners' Choice Award multiple years running and made the Top 50 Most Romantic Restaurants list in Australia. The pasta was some of the best I've had in Brisbane, hands down. We also tried the artisan pizzas, which had that authentic Sicilian character you don't get at your average Italian spot. Chef Mick clearly knows what he's doing -- every plate felt considered, not rushed. We're already planning to come back for one of their Tuesday Magic Nights with the live entertainment, and I'm keeping them in mind for a family celebration later this year too -- they clearly know how to do banquet and set menus properly. If you're after a genuine Italian restaurant in Carina or anywhere across Brisbane Southside, skip the generic chains and book Elios Osteria instead. Worth every bit of the drive.
