That being said, I was expecting less, as I had in my head that this could be the kind of place that thinks being vegetarian is a substitute for being a decent restaurant. Not so, in my experience. You might look at the online menu and think that they wouldn't offer its full scope at each outlet, but they seemed to have a huge variety of dishes, from South Indian to various Indo-Chinese and Indo-Mexican fusion dishes to some random pasta for people who don't like Indian I guess. Being adventurous, I tried some idli (lentil-rice cakes) in a Chinese sauce, which was pretty tasty. Mildly spicy, albeit nothing scary. The vada dipped in sambar to start was solid enough as well. And they seemed to be running a decent restaurant. Between the out-front service and the slightly visible kitchen area in the back, there were quite a few people here actually preparing food, and it was correspondingly good. It was cleaner than a lot of places. It was also evident that they could tell I was in a hurry, and they got out my dishes just in time for me to catch a bus. Probably four star food, but given the low level of service I've become accustomed to at Indian places here (and anywhere really), the overall dining experience was quite good. What else would I ask of them? Offer some tofu, maybe, add in online ordering. I wish it wasn't out in Morningside, but nonetheless, I imagine I'll give them another shot at some point.

The staff are really nice, though there can be a bit of a language barrier, where you have to repeat yourself for them to understand what you are saying. Overall, I would say that they are definitely worth getting some takeaway Indian from, perhaps look elsewhere if you are looking to dine in though.

You can also choose a cheese platter from 10am onwards which makes someone like me squeal in delight. Litse also has a range of wines for those enthusiasts, but also a kids menu for the little ones. There is something for everyone and it all has a touch of easy sophistication. You'll pay more for mains here - in excess of $20 and sometimes up to $30 - but for an indulgent meal, it's well worth it. The bacon was crisp and not oily, eggs cooked to my request perfectly and the mushrooms hinted with garlic and seasoning a winner. The Coffee was made exactly how I wanted it and was a great drink to accompany my meal. I left Liste with a little less money than what I'd hoped to spend but the service and experience proved to be my reward.

Warm and crunchy pastry with a rich flavoured centre. Only one small thing from getting a 5 star rating, is that a few of the items on the menu are no longer available. It also comes up regularly on best Indian in Brisbane lists, and it delivered to my satisfaction. The term "balti" denotes a dish which is essentially a small wok, which the curries are cooked in and then served in. The hot dish keeps your meal warm, and everything was quite fresh. I wasn't overly adventurous with my ordering, but my lentils came out very nicely. I'm a dal connoisseur, mind you, and I'm pretty good at cooking it myself, but it would be tough to top their spices. It was also quite rich and thick, and surprisingly filling. This is the sort of place that charges for rice, and given how much basic rice and bread costs, you might as well order the non-basic ones for not a whole lot more. I did, and I was quite enamored with the mushroom pilau; mushrooms add a different note, and again the rice was cooked in oil and was quite rich and filling. Where I perhaps indulged unwisely was on fries ("chips" in parlance), which were pretty basic and just there to fill me up on a long day. I suspect I could have done better, and I might be inclined to come back and try their spicy dishes if I can make it down this way again. I got the sense that ghee was in most of their cooking (for those trying to avoid dairy), but they do offer to make vegan meals if you ask when making a reservation. Besides eating out of a metal dish, the experience included a visit from a fairly exuberant chef and the staff speaking in British accents (which I can now reliably tell from Australian). I could see a lot of room for improvement on the convenience of actually getting this food, but the food itself was what I'd hoped it would be.

But it didn't get in the way of me making my order, which was one of their tasty sounding 'Shish tawouk kebab' -- chicken skewer, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion & garlic mayo in Lebanese bread. I've never had a kebab with pickles on it before, and I have to say -- I'm converted! The tartness of the pickles and crunch of marinated mustard-seeds went well with the garlic mayo (a similar combination that you find in Western hamburgers). The chicken pieces were tender and expertly cooked. Their bread is good quality too -- chewy and strong enough to hold its contents; no fuss no muss. At $8 it's about the same as a yiros across the road (although you get a bigger portion for your money), and as the guy serving me pointed out, it's traditional Middle-Eastern cuisine, as opposed to the Greek take you get at Char Char. They have some really interesting looking items on the menu I'd like to try, such as their walnut labne, chicken fahita and charcoal-cooked whole chicken (served w/ garlic dip & Lebanese bread). They also have an outdoor courtyard (still having the final touches put on but operational nonetheless) where you can take your meal. You can even have a shisha (traditional Middle-Eastern water-pipe used to smoke flavoured tobacco) if you're so inclined.
