Grandma Nell's, to me, is more like a boutique (without the clothing), kind of upscale, where Riverfront Antiques is an actual antique store. Riverfront Antiques to me is more of a classic antique store. Everything from larger furniture, to vendor booths with smalls, to an upstairs room with crusty, dusty, and rusty items. It's well organized and while I didn't buy anything here it's a place I could see checking in on once in a while if I was in the area... I imagine inventory changes now and then with each vendor. The one thing I didn't like. The woman at the counter was on the phone from the minute I walked over from Grandma Nell's to the time I walked out the door to exit Riverfront Antiques. And I was in there for quite a while... I didn't try to listen so it very well could have been a business call. It's just a pet peeve I have so it's something I notice. Like if I'm at the counter at Dunkin' and they are taking care of the people in the drive through first while I'm standing there. Like... Hey! I'm right here! Maybe at least acknolwedge a guy? Hopefully it was just a one off while I happened to be there... From an antiquing standpoint... Definitely worth the time to stop if you are in the Clinton IA area!

If you are into glassware, dinnerware, glass & ceramic dinner bells and crystal, this is the place to be. If you are trying to find that old dinnerware set your mom had, there is a good chance they have it. If not, you will definitely find something close. A true haven for the glass collector. Audrey works hard at keeping the store very, very well organized and very, very clean and very competitive pricing. This is a "must take a detour and stop in" to visit Audrey! She is a very friendly owner.

I've been here once before and it is a pretty large building with two levels. There is a wide variety of items to choose from. I didn't buy anything this last time but I think the time before I bought a necklace. I usually look for small items because I'm flying back to Austin and can't lug that china set I'd really love to have. In the winter the 2nd level can get pretty chilly so bring a jacket. There is something for everyone here, so you should definitely check it out!

Very personable and friendly. I had a great time just visiting with him even if I hadn't bought anything. The shop is an old Victorian style house (supposedly haunted...see pic of article from the Gateway). The first and second floors are laid out like a typical house. Each room showcasing a selection of merchandise. There are some locked cases on the first floor you will need to ask staff to unlock. Typical setup as any other antique shop. I found some old vintage pocket knives that had belonged to the current owner's husband that I was able to buy at a very reasonable price and a Keen Kutter pocket knife that was a little more expensive... There was a Keen Kutter Kutlery display case upstairs that I would have loved to have taken home... ! It was pretty big, we had no room, and it was $400. The selection of items here ranges from retro, some modern, to vintage or antique. Clothes, hard goods, some larger furniture, and a lot of smalls... You definitely get a kind of creepy vibe on the second floor, but not that much different than any other old home from that era... My maternal grandparents lived in a very similar house. The upstairs always seems strangely quiet to where you hear every creak and groan of the aging construction, you hear the wind when it's blowing, and the temp varies from downstairs and from room to room. We didn't meet "Helen"...and I'm okay with that.

We took an Eagle viewing day trip to the Fulton dam on the Mississippi and A local in Clinton (Iowa) pointed us here. What a great tip!! It has among the best selections of old tools (and other guy stuff) to be found. Yes they carry some of the standard China and porcelain pieces (breakabillia) found everywhere, but the old tools are what kept my interest. Everything has been cleaned, and is in very good condition. Very reasonable prices.

You can tell the small group of employees are a tight-knit group that really do always try to put their best foot forward. I've looked through the items this auction house offers multiple times and I'm always really impressed with their array. They have everything from furniture to home décor to tools to lawn equipment to gardening supplies to toys and games and collectables. Literally everything. Whether you love antiques, resell items, or want something new for your home at a ridiculously affordable price; this is the place to get it. They hold auctions weekly and are always very professional in the way they handle everything. Everything is clearly and neatly displayed and pictures are even posted on their Facebook group so you can get an idea of everything they are offering and decide if there are items you'd like to bid on up for grabs. Most auction houses now-a-days are still a bit 'old school' so I REALLY appreciate the fact that they advertise a lot of their items online so I can get a fair idea of what they are offering before I make the trip to Clinton. I haven't seen any other auction house that also posts great high-quality photos of their items online. I've discussed with Justine about her selling my items, and she's been very honest with me about the way she does business and has offered me her services in a fair manner. Compared to other auction houses I've spoken with, McGinty Auctions definitely has the friendliest reps and they're always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty in ensuring all of my questions are answered, and my concerns are addressed. Every time I call they pick up their phone and they're more than happy to talk me through everything. Whether you're looking to sell a lot of your old things, or you want to bid on some new things- this auction house is by far the best in the Illinois / Iowa area. I've been to a few different auction houses and this one always stands out as the one that offers the best service, the most diverse array of items, and the best prices. It's a typical antique mall style setup with booths belonging to different owners so you will find anything and everything. Not just glassware. The main part of the store is kind of an L shape with a small room cut out on the center that showcases a large display/selection of uranium glass... Probably the biggest collection I've ever seen all in one spot. It's truly impressive. Prices once again vary with the vendors. Some items are high, some are at market, and there are some good deals to be found too. I took home a black glass flower stem frog. I collect different ones of these and use them as pen holders etc. on my tables at home and my desk at work. Definitely not what they were designed for, but it's how I repurpose them...!
