The inn is fairly new and is decorated warmly & tastefully, making it very inviting to weary guests. Ample parking which is rare at most places in Ireland. The rooms are a very nice size as well as the bathrooms giving you plenty of room to move about. The best part? The BREAKFAST!! This is one place to definitely set your alarm clock not to miss! Wow! Elegant setting with an exceptional variety to choose from along side the mandatory Irish breakfast! And the owner is delighted to regale you with lively conversation and stories as you dine. A fair walking distance to the main drag in town where there is a great selection of nightlife if you enjoy walking or do not want to drive after sampling the local pubs. I really loved the town of Kilkenny and the culture it offers. When I come back someday, I will stay here.

The owner is also a really nice guy. He helped rescue a trapped hedgehog from a cattle gate one morning. One thing to note is that it's away from the center of town so it's quiet, but you can walk to the center of town in about 15 minutes.

I have to admit that a little bit of the five stars I'm going to give Bridge View B&B is because I was somewhat of a rude guest, in that I arrived over an hour late after getting side tracked driving across Ireland then having my rental car locked in the parking deck across from Smithwick's Brewery (that one closes at 6PM - the 11PM one is up the street). Despite all of this, our hostess Eimear accommodated our tardiness and was very pleasant throughout the whole experience. That's reason enough to book this homey B&B, with the comfortable rooms and ideal location (along with metered parking nearby). The B&B sits right on the River Nore minutes away from a very convenient pedestrian bridge to downtown Kilkenny. The rooms are modest, with comfortable double beds and private bathrooms. The breakfast is delicious and made to order from the menu at the tables. Very much a mom and pop vibe, as Eimear made our breakfast (her husband is a musician we heard play at the Kyteler's Inn the night before - a small world indeed). The place is cash only, so be sure to have enough for your stay - if not, there are ATMs across the aforementioned pedestrian bridge. This is a cute boutique hotel was nice rooms and an excellent restaurant. You enter through the bar…read morewhich is the original box office for Kilkenny Theater. The lobby is tiny but check in was quite fast. Similar to other European hotels that converted old buildings, getting to the rooms can be a bit odd. Our "300" level rooms were accessed by taking the elevator to second floor and going down a hall which took us down a few steps and then up another few steps. While a bit of a challenge with luggage, it wasn't insurmountable. The room was chic with a modern bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The best part of the stay though was dinner at the restaurant. They have an extensive wine and drink menu. They served bread with flavored butter to the table. There were two types of bread, one that was like a country loaf and one that reminded me of focaccia served with a pesto butter. They were small but delicious bites. For my main course I had the Slow Braised Hereford Irish Beef Featherblade which comes with sweet potato puree, sweet corn, green beans & smoked bacon, red pepper polenta, fried corn crumb and jus. This was an amazing meal. The succulent beef was slow cooked before being crisped for serving. This gave the exterior some caramelization which contrasted nicely with the tenderness from the slow braise. The sweet corn & green beans provided the same kind of textural and flavor contrast to the sweet potato puree. And the polenta was savory and warm. Everything was a dance of complimentary contrasts. I only spent one night in Kilkenny but wish I had spent more just to enjoy more of the Zuni's excellent food. If you're looking for a place to stay, put Zuni on your list. If you're looking for a place to dine, Zuni is a must visit!

Park Villa is a damn serviceable B&B located just outside the centre of Kilkenny. It's just across…read morethe road from the New Park Hotel, but then there's a few B&Bs along there, so if you make a booking, keep an eye out for the yellow building. And if you get the Bus Eireann bus, the driver might be kind enough to let you out at the New Park rather than bringing you into the centre of town (probably only if you have no luggage in the hold, though). And for only €35 or so per night per person sharing - cheap as chips. Bear in mind, it's a B&B rather than a hotel, so you can't swan down and have breakfast whenever you want: half 9 at the latest. Though they didn't seem to mind too much when we didn't want any, in fact they knocked a few euros off. Vicky, the lady that runs the place, was extremely nice and helpful in recommending things for us to do around the town, and even gave us a map (lots of people will offer to give you maps, as if Kilkenny was some vast impenetrable metropolis, rather than a very small provincial city). And you may or not have noticed the suspiciously desirable domain name of the Park Villa Bed and Breakfast (see above). This is because Vicky, the proprietress, is a web designer (vicky.ie). That plug better be good for a few euros off next visit, Vicky.
