I absolutely loved this hotel and location!…read more Staff was great, rooms were clean and spacious, lobby and breakfast area amazing! Location was across the street from a small store which we loved grabbing snacks etc. just down the street is the Royal Mile and lots of shopping and restaurants. The Castle was a short walk as well as the Black Abbey and St Mary's Cathedral. Short distance just past the Royal mile is another street and you'll find Kytlers as well. Love this town!!

There's no dedicated loading/unloading area for luggage. There is a pull-off near the hotel main entrance but all kinds of cars seem to like hanging out there not just for loading, and no signs indicate they can't do that. Breakfast is not included. Shower supplies? No. Washcloth? No. Daily water? No. Fast wifi? No. Air conditioning is non-existent; they include a small oscillating fan even in the large rooms. There are no screens on the windows, so if you're trying to open them to get cool air, bugs come in. If bugs aren't coming in, then sounds are coming in, whether street sounds on the front side, and on the back side late night partiers coming through the alley, or dumpsters being emptied overnight. If it's not winter, I don't know how anyone could get a good sleep here. I loved Kilkenny, will probably be back, but will look for better hotel options.

Was a little disappointed with housekeeping we came to things empty and they never refilled them for us. The restaurant ember was also amazing food and very attentive friendly staff. Right next to shops pubs convince stores and a car park. Location was the best. I'd skip the breakfast add on here and go across the street, tons of unique places to eat at.

When we approached the hotel, we realized that it was centrally located and very nice without being overly fancy or too expensive. After our Castle tour, we returned to the hotel to check in and again (in Kilkenny) the staff was very friendly and helpful.  Our room was facing the side street and was overall very clean and nice. It was on the 1st floor but in the states, it would be considered the 2nd floor as the actual first floor is called the "ground floor". This meant unfortunately when people were seated below us at the restaurant patio outside, sometimes their cigarette smoke would waft into our room. It wasn't so bad but the street noise was problematic... Even though we went to bed after 10pm and we only stayed one night on a Sunday night, the music from the Left Bank was so loud that we had trouble sleeping, even after closing the windows. Had it not been for these two aspects, we would have really loved the hotel room and found that it was clean and comfortable. We had some bottled (non-plastic) waters in the room, and iron, hair dryer, comfortable beds, etc.  The hotel bar (The Brasserie) was also advertising live music, so we checked that out too. It was very nice inside but the music wasn't quite loud enough for us to fully enjoy so we called it quits after a round of drinks. For more recommendations and tips from our Ireland trip...
