But now that I'm up here it's not really feasible to drive an hour south, drop off my car for a day or two, and figure out a ride back up here or renting a car. So I had to look for someone up here. Mike's Repair looked well reviewed so I took a chance on them. Turns out they are awesome too! I appreciated that when I called someone picked up right away in the evening and got me scheduled for first thing the next morning. Car was fixed the same day. Price was reasonable. A bit more than I'm used to, but I know the guy I used to go to was really giving me a sweetheart deal. I think Mike's gave me good value for the money I paid. I have 240k+ miles on this Civic of mine and it just keeps chugging along. So I'm sure I'll be back to Mike's as it needs more work. I'll definitely return!

The diagnostic did not cover some key tests I expected as part of a standard diagnostic. They failed to do a full scan of all systems and failed to check previous codes that were causing problems as well. When I asked about further testing, they wanted to charge me extra. I ended up taking my car back without getting any repairs done. I feel like I didn't get the full picture of what was going on with my car. Also seems like they upcharge significantly on basic parts compared to other shops. Would not recommend.

I also ordered a serpentine belt, an oil filter, and a jug of Mobile One. Paul's Auto Service had been recommended to me by a couple different people and I called to see if they would have a problem with me bringing my own parts and fluids, because some shops definitely don't like if you bring your own parts due to the mark up the shops charge for parts, so if you bring your own they don't get that money. Julie at Paul's said it wouldn't be a problem at all if I brought my own parts, so I got a quote and made an appointment. I dropped off the van and the keys a few days later right before they closed so they would have it to work on right away the next morning. They open at 8 AM and five hours later the van was done. When I went to pick her up they gave me all the old parts and Rob pointed out some wear and corrosion on the water pump and the tensioner that made me glad that I had taken care of this sooner rather than later. The price I was charged was a couple hundred dollars less than another shop in town that I had considered, and it was $1000 less than the Honda dealership in town quoted me. For me, getting automobile service work done is like going to the dentist. I dread it, but Greg the owner, (I don't know who Paul is or was, maybe Greg's dad) his wife Julie, and Rob the other mechanic were so nice and friendly and understanding and and it just couldn't have been a better experience. A very reasonable labor charge, a fast and reliable turnaround as promised, honesty, integrity, and such friendly service. I was a first-time customer, but they made me feel like I had been bringing my vehicles there for years. A guy from the shop asked me did you just have your transmission fluid changed? I replied no. He said it was the cleanest he had ever seen. That's because there was none in it. My transmission went out. My mechanic said no fluid wrecked it. I contacted Scott the owner he blamed my van? So I leased a truck and went to a koo. My customer asked where's your van I told him what happened. He said I brought my truck there they didn't put oil in it and my motor went out. Snappy Lube had to replace it. So I thought I would take them to court. Then I read someone else did and Scott got on a payment plan? That customer said it took forever to get paid back. All said Scott cost me $2,500 to bring it to Snappy Lube for an oil change. Don't be fooled on his website as well look for lowest ratings he has a lot of them folks.
