So , stayed here last night. What a difference to my visit to Lampeter last week when I stayed at the Falcondale.
The Grannell is a traditional pub \ restaurant \ hotel place. Just head out of Lampeter on I think the Caenarvon road. Its about 2 miles out of town.
A lovely warm welcome when I arrived about 4.30 pm - shown straight to my room ( no 1) large double bed , good sized work desk and a large ensuite bathroom with walk in shower. All very clean and well kitted out. Small flatscreen TV with most free view channels.
I enquired for the bar and food opening times and found it was 6pm , but with an offer to open early if I wanted ( how good is that ! )
As I had some work to catch up on ( free wifi too - not very quick but good enough ) I said 6pm would be fine.
Called down into the small bar at 6ish - had a couple of pints ( worthingtons and carling on draft ) and a chat to the landlord and a regular - then decided on a bite to eat.
The menu is small but has enough to probably give everybody an option - I went with soup to start and Lasagne for main. Both were homemade, good portions and very tasty - Lasagne came with homemade chips too - now thats a treat.
After dinner I went back upto the bar to finish my pint and have a couple of brandies before going upstairs to watch the euro football. The landlord and his mate were going into town for a couple of beers and asked me along !
I was by now full and tired though so I said next time - but I think that gives a good indication of what to expect when stopping here - the couple that own and run this place are so nice its like stopping with family rather than in a hotel.
Please give this place a go if you are in need of either hotel or dinner in Lampeter - I am back in two weeks so will be here again for sure.
Price for the room was £60.00 including full cooked welsh breakfast - total bill came to just 30 pounds more including 2 course dinner, 4 pints and 2 brandies.
Thats great value I think !! read more
