Other family members ordered a plate of prawns, smoked salmon and soup (£10.95), and a rarebit and soup (£6.95). We shared a cheese platter (£8.50) for dessert. Every bite was exquisite. Mark was especially helpful giving us hiking tips and general info. Our room was on the top floor, number 6, facing the river - what a great view! Everything was quite clean, nicely furnished and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast the first morning was okay, but as we were finishing, I heard another guest raving about the "avocado toast" he had yesterday. Hmm...we weren't advised about this dish. The next morning, I asked, "Do you have avocado toast?" Sweet Emily replied, "Oh yes, I always forget about the specials - let me check." As it turned out, the avocado toast was one of the BEST dishes I had during my two week travels in Wales & the UK (I know you're thinking..."Wales & UK?") Ask a Welshman. In all, our stay was excellent and if Paul McCartney stays at Plas Tan y Graig, then it's good enough for me - see photo in dining room on fireplace mantle. Positive points... Situated perfectly for the beach and town, the breakfast was nice and the price was reasonable but cleanliness doesn't cost anything. I would only stay here again if the rooms were thoroughly cleaned and they had a revamp to bring it up to good standards. Hopefullly the new owners have plans to bring it all up to date and give it a thorough clean, then it would be a perfect b&b.

They'll recommend walks or hikes nearby, tell you how to do it the easy way, and they make a tasty breakfast. (Say yes to the local bacon) There are plenty of spots to hang out in the house besides your room, if you find yourself needing to wait out a spot of rain. Plus, it's very eco-friendly! They have a greywater system for the garden, they'd just had 21 days of heating the water for the house with solar &/or wood. Fairtrade & local are their monikers too. But they don't beat you over the head with it, you have to ask to find out that's what they do. I think this a lovely part of Snowdonia to visit, because it's not as well known. But you can hike for seven miles out behind the house before you hit another house, and you won't find super-busy trails full of other hikers. Big bonus in my book.
