It's always such a pleasure and privilege to enjoy Yelp events at local venues. This time we were treated to go to Buen Dia. This restaurant is pretty amazing. It is also the perfect place to hold a gratitude gathering. Their model is to bring happiness. A little happiness in everything. The food is so good how can one not be grateful and happy. We were treated to their incredible chilaquiles, followed by a tamale stuffed poblano and refried beans. All finished off with a pumpkin swirl cake. What a wonderful meal. So tasty and filling. The Service left nothing to be desired. As always it was attentive and prompt. I was able to try the horchata which was quite good. Not watered down and a nice pinch of cinnamon. I also tried the cafe de olla. It was great with a splash of cream. It was a very nice cup of coffee with a touch of cinnamon. As always Yelp events don't disappoint. This was a fantastic Yelp event and probably the best one I've been to. The Buendia team is an absolute pleasure to be around and they really make you feel apart of their mission and community. We made cards showcasing what we were happy or grateful for using markers and index cards. Which I thought was fitting for the festive season. We started off with chilaquiles apps and had a drink of our choice. I had been to this restaurant previously and really enjoyed the Buendia special but had wanted to try this dish. I'm so glad I was able to, it was delicious and so so so perfectly prepared. The next part of the event we were able to try cafe olla as well as their signature social which is a poblano stuffed with a green chile and cheese tamale covered in a poblano cream sauce. I loved it the first time and it was amazing this time as well. I would definitely come back and 10000% recommend this place. A Tucson staple for sure!!!!! read more

Ive been recommending Buen Dia, and can confidently continue recommending it! It was such a warm feeling walking in and I had never been to the back room before but also had a warm feeling. I loved the Jamaica drink and I also tried the orchard! Both were so good and such a generous amount! Ill definitely be back for the green corn tamale stuffed in chili over rice. 100% my style! This was one of the best Yelp Elite events I've been to. I met new interesting people and the food and venue was great. I'm so glad I got to experience Buendia like this. I knew that it was on the top best places to eat in Tucson, but still hadn't made it there. To hear ownership and their family speak with such passion really says something about how much this business means to them. I wasn't surprised when Julio said that all ingredients were made from scratch, you can really tell the difference nowadays. It's things like this that make people come back. I loved the green sauce on the chilaquiles that was served to us, it's probably the best I've had in Tucson in a long time. Everything about this event felt like a celebration and it was so nice to enjoy the full portions of food that were served. I can't wait to come back for breakfast / lunch. What a wonderful night at Buendia Breakfast and Lunch Cafe! We had so much fun getting to meet new faces as we switched up seating. The chilaquiles with tomatillo sauce was to die for! A Grateful gathering of YELP Elites at Buendía Breakfast and Lunch Cafe, Tucson's local breakfast and lunch hot spot welcomed us with much Algeria ( happiness or joy). Yelpers were treated with chili chilies with both red and green sauce as well as offered a drink of choice tonight. During that time we were supplied with cards and markers so we could write our own personal well wishes to our host. We were serenaded with live music, which is quite beautiful. I was lucky to sit really close and speak with the musician Jose "Martin" Marquez. After a brief introduction, we were moved to a new room. I've never been to one with a children's play area, with instructions to sit near people you don't know well. There we were treated with a chili Riano stuffed with delicious tamale and cheese served for a side of delicious rice and also vegetarian refried beans..I have come here on my own as a customer, and this is my favorite dish. It's great to know that they showcase their version of a chile relleno this evening for people who have never been, as it's a flavorful and very memorable dish. Just a real showstopper. We got to meet the owners Jael and Julio, a husband and wife team who made their dream to open a restaurant during the Covid pandemic with the support of their family. Their message of putting out positive joyful messages out to the universe, knowing that that joy will grow was such a beautiful message to celebrate tonight with the YELP community. If you've been to the restaurant during regular operating hours, you would know that when they serve your food to you before you eat it on each table is a little jar filled with pom-poms with a label Algeria, with much ceremony they sprinkle on every dish before you have the chance to take a bite. They explain that joy is an element of your food and eating, and hopefully you'll find you taste that extra bit of joy when you're eating meals. While chatting with yappers tonight that I was not familiar with we were also very fortunate to receive a thank you from the owners of a coupon for a free cup of coffee. This is one outstanding cup of coffee, that you will not forget, called the café de Olla, served with a little cookie in a cheerful mug. Also, a very cool surprise was that we got a special YELP espresso cup, and saucer, and boy I can't wait to use mine. Thank you so very much Bella for putting on a amazing event tonight. It just really reflected the Thanksgiving season that's coming up next week. read more

This event was fantastic! Buendia was so generous, both with their time of hosting as well as all that they offered. This was my first visit to them and based on it, I would definitely recommend it to others! The drink options were plentiful and I loved the flavor of the horchata. The Chilaquiles appetizer had two sauces and I couldn't get enough of either! The Stuffed Poblano was definitely a unique dish that was so big I got to take some home for later. And I am a pumpkin lover so the dessert was the perfect conclusion. I also really enjoyed hearing from the family and learning more about how and when the business came to be as well as their expansion into more of the building. I met new people as well! The espresso cup and saucer were a sweet gift that I appreciated also. All in all it was a wonderful evening! read more

This was such an amazing event, I'm sorry it took me so long to write about it! The staff seems so genuine and welcoming, and even the other yelpers attending, appeared very appreciative and delighted to be there. It was very cool to be a part of such a warm experience. I'm a big fan of Horchata and order it at a lot of different places, but I have to say that the one here is very different. It has a nutty flavor, which was cool to try. I also love that they let us try one of their more popular dishes, especially seeing as it's a vegetarian one, which I would've never ordered prior to tasting this one. But it truly was fantastic! I will definitely be back to order this! The gratefulness cards that they were using for their board in the back of their second room was a very cute and touching way to bring in the thankful season. Buendia has been a favorite of mine since it opened, but their Yelp events are always such a lovely time and great opportunity to sample some different menu items. I almost always get the tortilla soup, but was thrilled to be pulled out of my rut and treated to their delicious chilaquiles. Despite being my favorite breakfast item, I've never ordered them from Buendia (my love for the soup is real.) They did not disappoint! The red sauce was my favorite my default, but the tomatillo sauce was also so good. After moving next door, ww were each presented with a giant breakfast poblano, which was also amazing. The tamale inside was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of cheese.) I ended up taking most of mine home and enjoyed it for lunch the next day. This was such a fun event. This was a great event. Changing rooms in the middle gave us a chance to meet more people. The food and drinks were all terrific, especially the tamale-stuffed poblano pepper. The owners and staff were warm and welcoming. The restaurant used to have limited seating, so the addition of the back room is a big plus. read more
