So, I had selected this place based on it's convenience, and I had NOT seen the only two other YELP…read morereviews until AFTER I was bringing in my 2nd cat for a regular check. First cat we took in, was only about a year old, and it was having a lot of breathing issues. Even when I made the 1st appointment, the staff on the phone was awesome and fun. Nothing wrong with our big boy, but just needed some flea meds. They gave the little guy a shot for fever (he was running high) and an antibiotic. (he was sneezing and had some congestion). He still seemed a bit wheezy after a week, and they were MORE THAN WILLING, to call in a prescription, to the Walgreen located in the camp hill highmark for a Grilled Tuna Flavored Benedryl. (They did not even question the fact I was filling it elsewhere) (and oh, the other comment about them wanting to sell to get the money, when I asked the desk person about food, they even told me I could get the SAME food cheaper at a pet store, maybe they got a new desk person?) By the time the Script was filled, I had to call them back, he had stopped eating. They had me come in, and gave me a nutrient gel to keep the little guy going. Again, they were awesome about it, and it was only 14.00 for like 20 days worth. They also gave him another antibiotic after doing an Xray and blood testing. They found he had a partially collapsed lung, and would be prone to breathing problems. They also found out, he had one bum kidney, and was Anemic, AND on top of that, the blood work, showed that he was in "end stage" of liver problems (Must have had an infection as a kitten in his liver). We took the little guy home and for a week, forced him to take more antibiotics, and nutrient gel, trying to keep him going. He did perk up after a few days of the new antibiotics, but he was still listless, and would not eat (He used to GOBBLE treats, and would now not even touch them). We even had to carry him to his litter box. He just did not have the energy, even with the nutrient paste. A week after that, we took him back, (Already knowing we were not going to be coming home with him). Dr. Stoner was so empathetic, and understanding. They took him after we gave consent, and it was quick. Our little baby was at peace. They were kind enough to come into the room to take payment, so I would not have to stand out in the waiting area afterwards. Dr. Stoner even entertained questions about how the other cat would react to his disappearance. We put our baby down on a Wednesday. I was Shocked and surprised on Friday to get a card from the office, along with a hand written note of condolence. I never expected this. They did everything they could to save our little guy, and were al so wonderful along the way. I am going to keep taking the other guy back there, and will take the new one (Once we give it some time and adopt another) there also. thank you Mechanicsburg Veterinary Clinic for everything you did for us.

Well, I had been a client there for 20 years and had gotten very comfortable with taking my pets…read morethere. This all changed recently when my dog needed surgery. I cannot even describe the hell my dog suffered, not to mention the emotional and mental (let's not forget financial) anguish I experienced. First, he was given antibiotics that he wouldn't take. Multiple calls to the office met with "try this, try that"....i knew nothing would work; we tried applesauce, cream cheese, peanut butter, yogurt, sprinkling it on beef, chicken, and finally a compound that cost me $74. He spit that all over me! At one point my neighbors were trekking to the store for us!!! Finally, they offered a $65 injection that would last. Really??? You couldn't offer this sooner? His vet knew he had problems with pills, but, no! Upon his return home post-surgery, he cried for hours. No amount of pain meds was helping. I noticed his surgical "Lick sleeve" seemed exceptionally tight around his belly, so I loosened it and he immediately stopped crying and fell asleep!!! This thing was too small for him and cutting off circulation to his hind legs! When I called to get a more appropriate size, they wanted me to pay ANOTHER $79! Seriously? When I balked, they said to order one online or go to a pet store!!!!!!! I'm not kidding. I left it off of him until he went in for bandage removal. Now, get this, the vet he has seen since he was born kept calling him "she/her" until I told the vet that she had a penis! And you're a VETERINARIAN!!! Not wanting to put the ill-fitting sleeve back on him I left him go for the night. I own that. He went wild on his incision. I sent the pictures to the office and the VET TECH, not the veterinarian, said it was fine!!! Needless to say, I will not take my dog back there....EVER! He and I will never go back. I have sent neighbors and friends to this clinic over the years, but after this debacle I can't recommend it anymore. If you go there, pray you never need surgery. That woman should hang up her degree.
