I was told I could go to this doctor but her wait was for MONTHS and MONTHS. So fine, I wait. Here's the thing though - I needed a refill on my prescription for cholesterol med. CVS needed them to call it in because it didn't transfer from Walgreens. She refused to call it in, saying I'll need to see her first. She recognized I got the earliest appointment (would have to wait 1.5 months without meds, after already waiting 5-6 months just for the privilege of seeing this new doc). --but said she won't refill it until she sees me in mid December. What? It's cholesterol meds, not a controlled substance. I said to her nurse/office staff "So let me get this straight...my doc ditches me with no notice, then you send me to this doc and she says she won't give me a refill that my doc that left me prescribed because HER SCHEDULE is too booked to see me in time?" She replied "Yes". I said don't worry, cancel it. I'm done with location and cancelling with my gyno who is part of this practice too because of this. Shawna Kauffman doesn't care about my health. I don't see why she'd care for yours. This location has been a hassle to deal with since day one. These doctors and their egos - they're going to seriously hurt someone here. I'm so sick of lazy docs that think they're all that. Oh, btw, no one has figured out why I lost almost 50 pounds now (with other health issues). So you think I would be a priority. But no. I go on a long wait list just to get the chance at 20 min (if I'm lucky) appointment. No thanks. I'm done with Norton period. And you should seriously stay away from this doc and that place in general.

I had bursitis in my elbow and was so painful and swollen I could not sleep. The girls in office were to setup appointment the following day. I had to call them twice to remind them that I had limited use of my arm, and was still in pain. By closing time they finally called me back and made appointment in a few days. The staff is friendly but when you walk out the door, they have no idea or empathy for your problems.

I told her that 50 years of psych drugs had not shown me any drug that cured my sleep disorder. I backed up my view by telling her a neurologist told me there is no cure for Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder. Yet she told me her ordinary psych drugs would help. She mentioned that I might need evaluation by a sleep clinic, unaware that I've tried 2 and concluded they mostly are there to help sell sleep apnea machines. In a sense, I told her "Been there done that." Finally, I told them that I'd go elsewhere for a prescriber. I didn't yell or curse, but they or someone said I'd been "abusive". What a fashionable word. No person at Bridgehaven inquired of me regarding this alleged abuse. Bridgehaven just stopped returning my calls and then told me my case had been closed because I quit coming. Well, I thought I needed appts with the therapist to be coming there, and she did not return my calls. If I had a memory lapse and should have just been showing up, Bridgehaven should have called and touched base with me before CLOSING my file. Was I blackballed because I doubted the expertise of the nursing staff? In summary, I not only felt the nurses' knowledge lacking, but that they might be resistant to learning from patients.

I've never had issues with waiting to see the doc and she hasn't ever tried to "hint" at specific medications or programs. I've always had a great experience with her staff as well. Everyone clearly knows what they're doing in the office and I'm able to get appointments when I need them. Dr. Yuan even agreed to see me the day after I'd arrived home from China in Jan 2020. Thankfully no COVID. I'm not sure I could recommend her or her practice more. This isn't some place with 40 doctors where you see a different person every time and that's really beneficial because she's gotten to know who I am, what works for me and what doesn't. I also don't have to talk to a new doctor every time I go.

As I began visiting other specialtists and their offices, I began to notice a difference in my experience with them - little to no waiting long after my appointment time, helpful office staff, friendly lab technicians, documentation online rather than paper files, cleaner waiting rooms and exam areas. After a terrible experience with the front desk associate, one that resulted in other staff members apologizing for her behavior and me waiting for almost an hour past my appointment, I found another primary physician. A few months later I convinced my husband that his lackluster experience shouldn't be acceptable. He needs regular visits for his medical health and we need a doctor that is attentive. My husband had since left Dr. Nolan. One thing that is consistent with this office is customer service that leaves you wanting more. "Susan" is a long time associate and the face of Dr. Nolan's office. While I'm sure she knows office processes front to back, she doesn't provide an upbeat, friendly presence to patients signing in. Her phone skills are the same. If you have a long-standing relationship with Dr. Nolan, I understand staying with what you know. If you're looking for a new primary physician for yourself or family, I'd continue searching for other recommendations.

So when I was in need of immunizations for an upcoming trip to India, I was in a bind. I called a couple offices under my insurance, and the soonest I could get in as a new patient would be months after my trip. That was the case when I called Norton Community Medical Associates in Mid City Mall too, but the clerk there was able to get me in the following morning due to a cancellation at their sister site on Barret Avenue. And that's how I met Dr. Ana Overley. She was quick and efficient. Chatting with me about my overall health needs, while also getting me what I needed for my trip, which ended up being three vaccinations and some malaria pills. I also appreciate that she didn't redo a bunch of basic dianostic tests and bloodwork that I just had done at my ob/gyn. She just asked that I get a copy and bring the results with the next time I come in. Done. She was easy to talk to and put me at ease. And the staff person, who gave me my shots, also deserves some commendation. I'm not a big fan of needles, and I did not feel the needles go into my arm. Fast and relatively pain-free -- that's what I want when I must get a shot. The office was also immaculately clean. The front desk staff was courteous. I feel better knowing that I now have a primary care office near my home I can rely on.
