The campground offers over 60 sites, plus six cozy cabins. Three of these are rustic stone cabins with two rooms each, while the other three are smaller, single-room cabins. Cabin Six has been beautifully updated with new floors, furniture, appliances, and a modern bathroom. For larger groups, the park also has three group camp cabins--each with 20 bunk beds and spacious bathrooms that include showers, toilets, and sinks. The park is full of history and adventure. Visitors can explore the Pioneer Cabin and its nearby waterfall, or cross the famous swinging bridge--a suspension bridge that stretches 25 feet over Bear Creek. On the other side, you'll find two trails perfect for bouldering, rock climbing, or simply wandering through the forest. Wildlife is abundant, with deer, squirrels, raccoons, and plenty of other critters calling the park home. There are three scenic pavilions for picnics or gatherings. Pavilion One has restrooms nearby, Pavilion Two overlooks Haines Lake, and Pavilion Three also offers a beautiful view of the water. The dining hall is available for weddings, reunions, meetings, and other special events. Fishing enthusiasts will love the three fishing spots: Haines Lake, a quiet pond behind the Pioneer Cabin, and Bear Creek beneath the swinging bridge. For families, the park includes two playgrounds, a sports field, and plenty of picnic tables with cast-iron grills scattered throughout. Outdoor fun continues with three disc golf courses designed for different skill levels. And when it's time to clean up, the campground features two bathhouses that are always kept tidy by the hardworking park staff. This is a clean water way. The marina has 150 wet slips ranging from 20'-150' and are mostly covered, with 30 amp and 50 amp electrical services and Cable TV. They have pontoon rentals for $325.00 a day. The marina office and store are located at the fuel dock for all boaters interested in marine supplies, snack items, and Amaco fuel. Bay Springs puts on a wonderful fireworks show every July. My husband, a friend and I would join hundreds of other boats on the lake to watch the fireworks reflect over the water. If you position just right the light from the fireworks will illuminate the highway crossing the lake that is packed with bumper to bumper traffic stopped to watch the show. The real struggle is getting back to the truck in less than two hours due to waterway traffic. We just stayed put until traffic cleared and then leisurely boated back to land.

This park has several ponds full of fish and turtles. Lots of pine trees perfectly spaced out for hanging your hammock. The wife and I hired Jimmy to do some smallmouth fishing on Lake Wilson near Florence, Alabama…read more This is the lake that holds the Alabama state record for smallmouth. We had a great experience with Jimmy. We caught some live bait and then fished the current from the dam down toward the power lines. He was a good guide and put us on to some good fish. We caught smallmouths, drum, and even a decent catfish. Wasn't the best day on the water, but that's why they call it fishing and not catching. Since I live in Georgia and don't have alot of opportunities to catch smallmouth, I was stoked to have a B.A.S.S. Elite angler take us out on his home waters. There wasn't much to it, bump a live yellowtail on the bottom and float down from the dam, but I felt like Jimmy was giving us the best opportunity to catch a good one. The wife of course caught the big fish of the day, but I had fun. Everybody knows that a 3 or 4 pound smallmouth can fight like an 8 pound largemouth, that's what makes it fun. The chance to catch a 5-7 pounder is out there, with a bigger fish not unlikely. Jimmy was easy going, friendly, and a top notch guide. Thanks for a great trip.
