Pictures of various charity events around town. The space they occupy is on Elmwood between Hertel and Amherst. Is reused old space and it's awesome. I've been a few times for meetings, but I think they will give you a tour if you ask. And if you've been you'll know the answer to this - what's the largest animal in the space? Calm and friendly vibe. They have notebooks and tons of book-related accessories too. I even found a wax seal and the wax to go with it, for fancy letter-writing. Signs indicate that several book clubs meet here so if you're looking for one, this might be a great place to start your search. Parking is available on the street - and there are other great businesses within close walking distance too, a coffee shop, plant store, brewery, and more. I love that Buffalo has this free newspaper focusing on the Arts around town. The articles are…read moreleft leaning as the other reviewer mentions. But who cares? Don't red them if you don't want to. You'll still get great info on the local art scene and openings schedules etc. They have a lot of advertising, much of it "adult" so be prepared for that. Since it's free and can e found all over town you may have to keep it out of your kids hands while you wait for a fajita at Lone Star or have a coffee at Spot. 3 stars for the advertising content. Would be 4 without that given the plethora of info to be found inside the pages.

This is a free publication which does a great job of chronicling all things Buffalo. I've been in it many, many times. The only reason it loses a star is that when I released some of my epic and very popular albums, which sold more than any Buffalo artist did in those years except for maybe the Goos and such (I'm serious... one of them sold 20k!), I didn't get any recognition at all from the ArtVoice music awards. They gave all their best albums and best newcomer awards to people that only sold records to 5 family members and such. It's okay though... my music wasn't cool enough for AV. That doesn't change the fact that it's a fantastic free local paper and I support them completely!

Fitz Books has a friendly and welcoming vibe; come in and browse the eclectic and inspiring bookshelves. They have a section with vintage records too (and for very reasonable prices). Seating in the back is perfect for chilling out for a while with a new or new-to-you book. Parking is on the street.

(Also not at all a reflection of the staff who were friendly and awesome). If you are looking for anything social justice related though you can definitely find it here. If you are wanting to get involved in activism, protests, or progressive issues, and are very left-leaning, this is probably the right place for that. They also have pins, stickers, and a large calendar on the wall showing upcoming events. There is a small section in the front with books about local plants, mushrooms, and hiking.
