From the moment you enter the automatic doors of this restaurant you'll be hit by the amount of noise that seems to rally across the walls of this place. It's the morning rush and tables are already full. The hostess, a lady in a red kimono, welcomes us with a smile and looks around the room. Within minutes we're ushered to a table that's been so recently vacated the seats are still warm. With Chinese tea on the table, the hand waving can begin. Great Century Restaurant serves yum cha which is best for a family breakfast, brunch or lunch on a weekend. These are usually the busiest times, but also (imo) when the best food comes out. Definitely grab the crunchy prawn balls if they come around, or order them from the kitchen if they don't. I don't know the official name, but I can describe it only as a cooked prawn ball within a crunchy crouton outside (that's been deep-fried). Dip it into some sweet and sour sauce and devour them all before someone else does.
Best advice for this restaurant is to head in around 11am or midday. Never head in around 2pm or later because they recircle the dishes around the restaurant by this time and of course there is a limited variety by then. read more
