Great haircut and goatee trim by Jameel! Finally, found a stylist I can trust with a goatee trim Definitely will be back!!

Horrible service, did not honor the check in when I was ahead of many others. Poor Mgmt the day of 4/16. I checked in 45 min before, showed up and then told me I would still have to wait over an hour for others. read more

Do not expect a good haircut here!! My hairstylist moved out of the state recently and I was in need of a cut for my long hair. I went to the Dewitt Great Clips on US-27 and waited my turn to go back. There were two stylists and both were busy so I waited for the next available. I clearly stated that I wanted my hair to hit just below my shoulders and even laid my finger in the place where I wanted it to be when the cut was completed. Right away she started cutting the back of my hair and I immediately stopped her and reminded her that I wanted the length to hit where I had already pointed to on my shoulder. She affirmed it but kept cutting and needless to say my hair barely even hits my shoulders!! She did not clarify or even take the time to really listen to what i was asking of her. I was not happy to say the least and even told her that it was WAY shorter that I had requested. she tried to make light of by saying she liked how the sides looked and wondered what I did to get it to look like that. I told her I let it grow out and it grows like that! Now I can't even pull my SHORT hair into a ponytail or do anything with it to make it look good. I will never use this company again for a haircut!! So disappointed and I am kicking myself for ever going to this place!! On top of a really BAD haircut she still charged me at a discounted rate. I guess that was suppose to make me feel better about how terrible my hair looked. Apparently you have to give at least one star but it deserves ZERO!! If you have long hair make sure a stylist with long hair does your cut!! read more

Had a really bad experience at the Great Clips on Edgewood Blvd in Lansing MI today (02-06-2023). I've been growing my hair for quite awhile because I wanted a specific style. I showed the stylist a photo of what I wanted. it's a feminine pixie style. The stylist said she could do the style and went to work. When she finished, I almost cried. Instead of the feminine pixie I requested, I got a masculine cut reminiscent of Star Trek's Mr Spock. I'm going to have to live with this not so great clip for 6 months or longer until my hair is long enough to have it redone. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Great Clips in the future Jamie Szalla read more

That is the most terrible Hair Salon that I have ever been. I will not come back again and I do not recommend anyone to give a try at this hair salon unless you want to hurt yourself. Trust me! Look at my ICON. Do not be foolish by $9.99+Shampoo $4. You may pay much more for the treatment on your neck. I am not bleeding now. However, I feel pain (burn) all day. Additionally, I feel so bad then I take shower or lay down. They do not know what they are doing. First of all, they do not know how to do shampoo at all. They are unprofessional. They do not know how to do the hair cut unless cut your hair short....Ok. Leave along their poor skills in haircut. Please WATCH OUT your hair clipper!!! It may hurt people! Do not you know how to use the clippers in another side?! Do not tell me that "You may have sensitive skin. It is common to have that trace." Can you believe that a salon use sensitive skin as an excuse when they hurt your neck? Come on. I have never had any issue with any salon for past 34 years. I am not sensitive skin. I was hurt by you. I can pay you and also give you tips. However, I will let everybody know that this salon hurt people. Do not bring your kids to here! Double check your kids' neck when it is done. DO NOT TRY THIS SALON UNLESS YOU WANT TO HURT YOURSELF like me. read more

Lee/Li(?) cut my hair one day when I walked in and he was free. I keep coming back because I always get the same basic good haircut for less than half what I was paying at a pampering salon. For those looking for a good basic cut at a good basic price, Great Clips delivers a good hair cut for cheap. read more

I came for a haircut today, but I left with so much more. My hair stylist ( Jameel) was incredible. Like literally. He took the time to give me advice, and made me feel extremely welcome. I got more than I ever expected from a hair cut, and this was by far the best haircut/ experience I have gotten, go to Jameel!! He is an awesome hairstylist, you won't regret it. 10/10. read more

I had a good experience with Great Clips for many years. Then, a current male stylist cut off all the hair on the back of my head. The manager apologized, but the stylist never did. I was not offered a refund or any other consideration. It has been three months and my hair has still not fully grown back. I am now going to Cutter's Point in East Lansing, and my stylist there says it may be a full year before the original thickness is restored . This has been devastating to me as I am a widower trying to date 18 months after my wife died. To make matters worse, the stylist in question did not even remember the damage he did to my hair. I kept going to the East Oak Square Great Clips because I had no problem with the other stylists. However, the man who scalped the back of my head invited me to have him cut my hair again. Although the manager claimed to have spoken to him about his scalping, it clearly was not a significant emotional event. In fact, when I angrily reminded him who I was, the manager jumped in to defend him. My feeling is that when there are no consequences for such an egregious mistake, it is likely to be repeated. read more

We have forgiven a few things from this location, like cutting 1/2 of my nephews eyebrow, but today was too much. I checked in online at 10:10 am and waited until my turn (supposedly 120 minutes) at 1:40pm, just to be told there is a 40 minute wait becuase the app isn't working. granted its the first day of covid so I asked the manager if i could come back after 40 minutes and not wait as I am working from home. she agreed and upon my return the rudest person i have dealt with wouldn't listen, raised her voice several times, and then asked me to leave when i told her to lower her voice. I went down the road to supercuts, explained what happened, and they got me right in. Went back and cussed out the staff at great clips, won't go back ever! read more

After checking in online using the Great Clips app, I got a very nice haircut from a very nice hair stylist named Steph. Conveniently located in Okemos across the road from the Meridian Mall, this spot has become my barbershop of choice. read more

Let's start with the good first. The staff is pretty friendly, they offer discounts to students and military personnel, and you can walk in and get a haircut at a moments notice. They occasionally send you coupons, and put coupons in the State News for a $6.99 haircut. However, after going to Great Clips for the majority of my hair cuts over the last 4 years, I'm pleased to announce that I will no longer be getting my hair cut here ever again. While going to college, I tried to spend as little money as possible on my haircuts. I would let it grow longer than I'd normally like before going in to get it cut. Coupon in hand, I'd walk into great clips, and usually walked out disappointed. My sideburns would be different lengths, the hair around my ears would be cut to unevenly, and the top of my head was poorly cut. Overall, it looked like a sloppy haircut I got from a friend who has no idea what they're doing. But, give it a couple weeks and I you wouldn't be able to tell that I had received a bad haircut. Now, on the off chance that I did get a good haircut, I always tried to make note of who cut my hair. During the 4 years I've been getting my haircut here, I've seen a large number of staff turnover, especially those that do a good job. Unfortunately, once I found someone who did a good job, they were gone within a few months. If you are in the market for a cheap haircut, and don't have expectations, check them out. You might even be surprised, on the off chance you get someone who is skilled hairdresser. Otherwise, my recommendation is to find somewhere better. In this case, you get what you pay for. read more

I have to disagree with the previous reviewer - I went to Great Clips yesterday and had a great experience. I always go to nonfancy salons for budget reasons and I'm usually not disappointed. Yesterday my stylist Audrey did a great job. She answered all of my questions and helped me figure out how to get the look I wanted. She was fast, careful and I walked out with one of the best haircuts I've ever had. If you have something specific you want, just take pictures and be specific. You don't need to pay a lot of money to get a good haircut! Just come here. read more

I've never had a haircut that I loved but Abby definitely changed that! When I first arrived I was greeted and checked in. There were only a few customers getting their hair cut but plenty of staff so there was no wait at all. I came in with a few pictures on my phone and showed Abby how I would like my hair. I have very flat and straight asian hair. I wanted something with layers and volume and thats what I got. Abby was great! She listened to what I wanted and executed! Very budget friendly place and great staff! read more

I've had middle of the road to good experiences at great clips. The past couple of times I've been to this one have been really good because the woman who cut my hair (Ashleigh) really seems to know what she's doing, even while we're having a nice conversation. read more

I actually came here last year. I thought I was being frugal. It was just a bad choice. Fine for some people but I have sheers at home I should have used. You are getting what you pay for so price to value wasn't there for me. There just was no real service. Only wetting down my hair and a basic trim. Couldn't get side swept bangs. Probably fine for some but If your looking for something beyond basic training, keep looking. Minus an additional 2 stars for the lack of cleanliness read more

Stay away. Untrained staff, this lady butchered all my hair when I clearly told her not to trim not take inches off my hair. Telling me its going to grow back as an excuse. I dont care if its going to "grow back" having a short bad looking haircut is not what I asked for. I usually leave a nice tip when I get a haircut but after being charged for a mess up job and getting attitude. Im never coming back to any great clips, stay away. read more

They don't listen to clear instructions. I said to cut off less than 1/2 an inch and they cut off 3 inches. I'm growing my hair out for my wedding and they decided to ruin it without enough time for it to grow back. Thank you for making me change my wedding hairstyle to something I didn't want. read more

I would recommend going here if you're interested in getting a hair cut that is going to be a complete surprise to you when it's done. I just came from this saloon, that stuff was so rude with me, i did not like the hair cut, just two rude ladies working in nice place, they gonna definitely ruin the saloon.. I should have put a bowl on my head and asked my mom to cut off my ears instead of the back-alley-blind-man-hack-job I received from the two visits I endured at this place. The first visit left me with an over priced, stylish man-child look and the second was an attempt to fix the gruesome scene on top of my head, however, was only reconciled with a hurried, uneven dry cut hack job that still had not fixed any of the initial issues. Do not come here, they do a hair-ible job. read more
