I'll be honest- for years, I've been bypassing this location and going to the Dover Great Clips instead, even though this one is two miles from my house, because about ten years ago I had about three consecutive really bad experiences at this location. I never seemed to get the cut I wanted despite even having pictures to share, and my favorite was definitely the time I was greeted as "Sir" at the door and chastised for not checking in beforehand even though there weren't any customers there. I never felt welcomed there, and the whole salon felt like it was in need of a good cleaning back then. Needless to say, I had written this location off for a very long time. And then today happened, and I really couldn't stand another minute with my hair as long as it was, but I also desperately didn't want to drive to Dover. I decided that since it had been so long since I last got a cut at the Rochester location, I would give it one more chance. I'm super glad I did, because I was in and out within just a few minutes and Taylor gave me one of the best cuts I've had in a long time! I will definitely start coming here again in the future and I'm excited to not have to drive as far for a haircut any more, if today was any indication. read more

My Little cousin came back from getting a haircut with tears down his face because people don't listen. He asked for a burst fade, they gave my cousin a fucked up mullet and the back of his head looks like a lightbulb.(whoever has black and purple hair and cut a short blonde kid on sunday feb. 9 needs to be fired. read more

Although this Great Clips location is just minutes from my home, I make the 25 minute drive to the Dover location instead because the staff are just much more friendly and the space is clean! The one time I went to this location the floors were filthy, it looked as though they had just been cutting hair all day and not sweeping at all, Dover location sweeps after every customer. Also, the "stylist" that I had the not so great pleasure of having cut my hair had a serious hygiene problem. It smelled as though she hasn't showered in days and I'm not talking about a B.O. smell either. I will never step foot in this Great Clips again, even if they're offering free hair cuts. I would steer clear of this salon. There are a few good stylists in there that are great and seem to like their job. But there's a few in particular (more than a few times now) that have miserable, rude attitudes and can't even be bothered to greet people and immediately ask, "did you check in online?" How about start off with, "Hi, how are you?" Or "Welcome to Great Clips." Two different times in the waiting area I've heard this particular stylist bad mouth the client(s) that were just in her chair, right after they walked out the door. UNPROFESSIONAL. The owner needs to have a friend or family member go in like a secret shopper, wait in that waiting area and observe her stylist's poor attitudes and personalities. Short staffed, overworked, I understand but I couldn't believe this treatment is what you want representing your salon. If it weren't for coupons I wouldn't bother going but once those are used up, I won't go back. Unfortunately the coupons and punch cards are tied to this location. I will say though - one stylist that stood out to me was Terralynn. She's been great with myself and my kids, and honestly these other stylists there need to take notes from her. I really don't like giving my money (x3 since I also bring my 2 kids here) to places with such lousy customer service so I'll gladly drive to the next few cities over to find a place that treats their clients properly. I know times are challenging with COVID. I needed a hair cut, and visited their website to book on-line. Their App stated it would be 57 minutes or less for my appointment. I live about a half hour away, so figure by the time I drive, I'll only have maybe half hour to wait for appointment. Upon arriving, parked right out front, I call to let them know I'm there, only for them to tell me it's going to be an hour so before they can get me in. I asked what's the point of the App, and On-line appointments. The sign on their door even stated to use the App/Website. She stated they only have two stylists. My suggestion don't use the on-line booking, CALL.. I wasted time, rearranged my schedule, I was taking a break from work. Horrible Service. read more

Overpriced terrible haircuts. Find a local salon, trust me. I ended up almost bald with razor burn.

I've been here 3 times now and they've been great! They save in their system the exact way I like my hair cut which helps a ton because I am never able to remember if it's a 3 on top, 1 on the sides or whatever else. I've had my hair cut by two different stylists and they've both been great. Talkative, friendly and very reasonable priced. I read the review about the client with a firearm and even though I agree they should not have been so over the top they have never been anything g but polite, accommodating and very friendly to me. Went in legally wearing a firearm. Everything went smooth until I was paying. A stylist walked up and started to tell me how inappropriate it was for me to carry a firearm. I calmly replied that I would not wear it back into this shop again but she continued to fuss in front of all the customers and other stylists. I placed a complaint with corporate and the owner of this particular Great Clips called me at home to tell me that it was her employees right to freak out on me. For the poor way in which the salon staff and owner handled their discomfort over a firearm and for the level of ignorance when I was more than willing to comply at the first request of not bringing the gun back in the salon, I sadly would never recommend this business to anyone. I hope that the out of state owner of this business comes to realize that "Live Free or Die" does not mean we are a bunch of hicks but rather people with integrity and the courage to back it up. read more

Went on before Christmas with my 2 year old grandson had always taken him there from his first haircut. The manager is the one to b cut his hair this time. She proceeded without looking at what had been done before. She was so busy watching guys walking in that she cut his hair uneven and when I told her to stop and she continued to take more off. He fit the worst haircut EVER when I talked to her about this she was rude and said he was wiggly I then informed her that if she wasn't so busy watching guys walk in and doing her job that this would not have happened. If this is a manager telling me she can't cut hair on a child what is she doing there. Would not let the manager there cut my dogs fur. Make sure you don't get the manager to do your hair. I have been there four time recently and have always been very satisfied , my most recent haircut by Nancy was the best yet.. the staff is always friendly and the shop is very clean.. while I waited I watched Nancy sweep up from her last client ... I don't know why I continue to bother with this place... I started taking my older son because he's a kid, we don't do much with his hair so I figured why not go somewhere cheap nearby that doesn't require an appointment? That aspect of it is great; very little wait time, cheap cuts, convenient location. But the cuts here are so hit or miss and when they miss, it's bad. They keep a record of what you want so when you come in, they ask your number and name and print a little thing that shows what you've requested in the past. You would think especially with a boys cut it would be easy but my son has had a couple pretty rough cuts there and the last time I brought him was a total hack job. I'm glad he was only 5 at the time because it was embarrassingly bad. And then I went for a trim myself recently, thinking a simple shampoo and legit trim, nothing fancy at all would be easy. The woman washing my hair got water EVERYWHERE. All over my shirt, in the chair, on my face, etc. And then the trim was a couple inches shorter than what I had asked for and what she had showed me before. Just don't bother. read more

I have curly hair and this experience was probably my worst nightmare. The woman started by brushing my dry hair from the roots down basically ripping my hair into a giant puff ball. She never asked where I part my hair so obviously the cut is incredibly uneven. Each section was parted and combed through with a fine tooth comb which was painful, and then sprayed with a water bottle before cutting. Never have I been sprayed in the face with water while getting a haircut. Then she was done and just sent me off looking like a crazy mess. Never even washed my hair and completely abused my hair/head. Came so close to just walking out and screaming at her to get her hands off me. Never again read more

Had 3 haircuts at this location this yr. The first one was ok. The 2nd one, a huge clump was cut by a new stylist. I went back 8 weeks later after the spot had grown out. The 3rd stylist, C, did not even wet my hair, just "texturized" it. It made my hair frizzy & it is not even. WTF. They get U in & out fast & what U look like is irrelevant. read more
