The team member whom took my appointment assured me the stylist I was assigned was a new graduate and new all the trends and techniques. My stylists was very new and had to stop to ask a more experienced stylist for help on technique. Again was content with the look when all was done but the bread trim and hair cut did not meet what I was looking for the 40 dollar charge. Based on their reputation I am sure this Salon is solid, just not for what I was looking for.

Firstly, I have never had someone start our appointment asking me what I liked and disliked about my hair and she genuinely listened to me with no judgement but complete compassion for who I am and how I felt about my hair. Little did Mel know that my hair is actually very touchy and emotional subject for me. Mel did more than cut my hair, she spent SO much time styling my hair and showing me how and why she was doing what she did. She took my thin, flat hair and gave me volume I truly did not know was possible for me!! She saw me! As a person that just wanted my hair to look nice, and she left me actually feeling pretty. My hair looked the best it has ever looked (even better than my wedding day)! This was my first time sitting in Mel's chair and the first time in anyone's chair in over 5 years, but I know Mel and the wonderful ladies at Trends are going to have you walking out feeling good about yourself and not just your hair. Her new location on University Ave is spacious, clean, and quiet. It's nice to be the only customers when we stop in. There is a second chair in another room, but we haven't been in when they're both working! Kristy is professional, talented, and very kind. It's always nice to catch up when we stop in for our haircuts! We even make the drive from Cedar Rapids now, and it's worth the time.

I believe they take walk-ins, however I only go to a particular stylist so I always book in advance. The real reason I go there is for Katrina. A coworker with amazing hair raved about her and gave me her info. Though I used to change stylists frequently, I haven't left her for years now and will follow her wherever she goes. She is professional but fun, she doesn't rush you, yet she's very fast. She does the best platinum I have found and I completely trust her cuts, she knows my style. I like to experiment a bit and she's always up for it and always executes it perfectly. I call these years with her my "good hair years". Can not recommend her more highly!

It was for 11 o'clock I got there at 1115 so I was 15 minutes late but I thought I was 15 minutes early I apologized to everyone profusely for being late and the receptionist said that she'd go back and see if I could still keep my appointment the person that I had the appointment with was the top tier hairdresser and she said that yes she could take my appointment so I sat down in the chair the woman did not speak Only the minimum. I showed her photos of what i wanted. She began to dry cut my hair which I've had dry cut before so I was fine with it and she just seemed to act odd in that she didn't speak, smile, or ask any questions. She sat in a chair while she cut. That too was okay. At one point I asked her where the layers were starting. She indicated at my eyebrow. That was odd. I indicated I wanted layers to start at chin level. Honestly I was nervous to say anything because she created such a hostile environment. If she didn't want to cut my hair she should have said so. The cut looks like a different cut on each side. When the cut was completed (not near as many layers as I'd shown in the pictures) she asked me if I wanted a shampoo. What? Never have i heard of a shampoo after the cut. Obviously i said no. The entire visit to Jiva Salonspa was unsatisfactory and odd.
