When asked how much something is & the customer says Wow, no thank you too much. Your reply is not " well they have been selling all day" & When there is no price on something ( that has been used) & you tell the customer a price that is .50 cents lower than original price on the price tag. The customer has the right to not accept it & ask for a lower price & NOT be shamed! & have then comment " I am doing the best I can" & then the best part....after the customer pays.. instead of dropping it.. gIves the customer dirty snide looks on the way out! You are a bully Sue! & in the wrong profession dealing with customers in your upscale garage sales! read more

I just finished a six-month project to get my parents home in the Philadelphia suburbs ready to put on the market. About halfway through the project, I was introduced to Sue by a broker who recommended her highly. From our first meeting, I was impressed with her organization and attention to detail. My parents had a large house with sixty years of accumulated possessions, antiques, furniture, china, and clothing. Two weeks prior to the sale Sue brought her team in to begin organizing everything. I watched Sue come in each day with her notes for each day's goals for setting up the house. By the end of that first day, and with each successive day, the chaos of my parent's possessions rapidly took shape and began to look like a fine department store, with items thoughtfully and artfully presented. My parent's estate sale took place over five days across two weekends. The sale was very successful. Following the sale, Sue and the team emptied the house, sorting items for consignment, donations or trash. While the estate sale had many nice items, the prices were very high. I was not looking to "get a steal", just a fair price. Jackets for $100, sweaters/tops for $25, etc. Didn't matter if you were buying a lot, no discounts for bundling. The items are secondhand, after all, not brand new retail items. I overheard a few customers complaining and Sue was rather snippy towards them, in one case demeaning a potential customer by asking her if she knew the brand name of that clothing and what it costs in the store. I don't believe she is doing a great service for the estate, as so many items go unsold. Better to get a decent price than none at all. I would imagine there would be many items left. Does someone then benefit from buying up the remaining items at a great price? I love to shop estate sales, but I will be avoiding this one. One bright spot, the gentleman outside organizing the line was very pleasant. read more

I am so excited for the warmer weather that's coming, as that means it's estate sale season. I love estate sales, tag sales, garage sales, and whenever I'm telling friends about this hobby (habit), I tell them that if they're going to try an estate sale, they need to look for one by Sue Odell. At the most notable "Changing Homes" estate sale I've been to, last fall, what was more notable than the contents of the 10,000 SF house was how helpful and genuinely enthusiastic her team was. They were enjoying themselves during an important day at work, and that was infectious. On to the clothes. At the last estate sale I went to, I bought an alpaca cape that I get compliments on every time I wear it. I just went to an estate sale in Penn Valley run by this company and boy was it a disaster. Less than 50% of the items were priced. They were looking up prices on their phones as people were bringing them to the register. If they could not find it online they just made up a number that made no sense. They were basically giving away valuable items to their regular customers and charging crazy high prices for broken or damaged pieces. They were disorganized and stuff was thrown everywhere. We used another company for our estate sale when we moved into the city and have become addicted to estate sales since. I also thought it was weird that they did not take credit cards. I am glad we used the other company because this company is embarrassing. read more

In sum, information on our purchase from Sue was misrepresented. We recently bought a piano from Sue at an estate sale. The piano had a sign on it that said "official piano of the Metropolitan Opera 1920". We were told it was built around 1920. The piano was delivered and we looked up the serial number and found it was built in 1966. While it is still a good piano and we do not regret the purchase, we are disappointed that we were lied to. We called Sue to say as much, and she was fairly rude, saying she had tried to contact us and her calls had not been returned, which is simply untrue. She said she wasn't responsible for the information about the piano and that it was her employee that had done the research. I think it is a fairly well established fact that employers are ultimately responsible for their employees' actions. Sue misrepresented some very important information and when called on it, instead of being courteous and apologizing, she went on the offensive and blamed her employee. Shame on you, Sue. read more

I can't say enough good things about Sue, her team and my experience with her. We used her to prepare our home on the Main Line for sale. It needed a lot of work, cleaning, organizing and disposing of many small and large items and finally staging and maintaining the home while on the market. From the outset, she was prompt, professional, dedicated, hard working, never, EVER, said no or encountered a problem that she wasn't up to facing and figuring out a solution. I trust her like family and as a result, every ancillary person she brought from large item disposal to house cleaners, contractors to do small and minor repairs were highly professional, trusted, efficient and produced excellent quality work. Her organizational, cleaning and staging skills are professional, tasteful and timely. From the first meeting I knew she was capable but I didn't realize what a powerhouse she was until we encountered cleaning and disposing obstacles that she easily handled. She and her team worked tirelessly, well into the night on several occasions, came quickly when deadlines presented, worked weekends and nights to get the job done. She went well beyond the call of duty in countless ways. We encountered many obstacles in the process but Sue never backed off from a challenge, was incredibly resourceful and was always available by phone or in person to help out. She even appeared in court for us during a dispute related to the home sale!! I have nothing but the highest praise for her professionally and personally and continue to consult her for estate sale issues, home repair and service recommendations. I've been at five of her sales and found her delightful, friendly, warm, helpful and always willing to work with you. I know when I go to a sale, I'm looking for a bargain like 90% of the people that goes to estate sales or auctions. I been at many other sales, where I heard many people say as they was leaving THE PRICES ARE TOO HIGH! So with that said, I highly recommend that you go to one of her sales and compare.
