I'm going to be honest. I have only been to this location twice and I'm not happy at all. First time I was there I was told I needed a cleaning which cost about 1,200... which I found weird... I did cleaning since I trusted them and during my cleaning the lady stopped my cleaning to order uber eats with her co worker while I had stuff hanging out my mouth during a procedure... couldn't believe that a coworker would walk in during my procedure to have her tap the phone to order..... unprofessional! I never said anything at first bc I really wanted to give this place a chance but nope!! Too much signs that signal this is not a proper operating dental office. I also hear arguing between co workers in hallway, and the women cleaning my teeth in between my visits kept getting up during my appointment to go in hallway. I was waiting for a very long time. I'm 30 years old and never had anything wrong with my teeth, it seems like this is a routine charge for new patients where every-time they're telling you that you need this deep cleaning. She made judgmental comments about how come I get my nails square she doesn't like them square... not sure what that has to do with my appointment. Then after paying 1,200 for a deep cleaning ..she tells me to come in 3 months for a cleaning but it's not covered by my insurance until 6 months. If I just paid 1,200 for a deep cleaning why would you tell me to come in 3months when it's not covered ... isn't that the point of deep cleaning???? Why is it a problem to come 6 months when it's actually covered?! The whole visit felt unprofessional and forceful. 2nd visit was today bc after my cleaning months later I had stains in between my teeth which I did not have prior to visiting this office. She then tells me stains are from the mouth rinse she gave me which makes no sense bc it's mouth wash.... Shes always distracted and rushing. She's rushing while scraping on my gums then goes to another patient to finish there visit to then come back to finish my visit. It feels unorganized, professional, scam like. She then tells me to come back in 3 months..... it feels like there practice is not conducted to take care of patients with honesty and care it feels like they just want our money. Why is it that the only 2 times I'm there, there giving 3 different patients the same speech they gave me telling us we need deep cleaning... be careful... I won't be coming here anymore. Scamming Dental Office These folks use scare tactics....cancer concerns, gum disease... total snake oil salespeople to sell naive folks Arestin My young adult daughter got taken and came home crying in the driveway with a huge bill. This Arestin, no matter how it's pitched is non-sense that's not a covered item under any dental plan. The office knows it but they'll tell you oh we're not sure what each Ins co will pay. Don't worry They'll also pitch the need for a mouth guard for grinding an Invisalign just to get deeper into your pockets. Don't use em. Scam is right! Wish I would've read the reviews before I went. I went for a check up and cleaning. They did X-ray, Gave me the worst scenario. THEN they cleaned HALF of my teeth. NEVER had that happen. And scammed me to buy an Oral b electric toothbrush and charged $189.00 and said it was a good price. I've been thinking of getting an electric toothbrush, so I believed them and went ahead and purchased it. After leaving I thought "that was not right " the whole experience. Didn't go back. They called once to see if i would come back. So now I have one side of teeth cleaned and looking for a new dentist. This place is ALWAYS trying to do everything they can to charge you for (questionable at best/scam at worst) procedures. I need to tell them EVERY time that I will not do any of their treatments unless it's covered under my insurance plan. And then I'm made to feel guilty about it. They try and scare you that you'll get gum disease and cancer and your teeth will fall out, etc. if you don't pay out of pocket for whatever they're pitching. It's very awkward to have to keep telling them no. It's also frustrating to make an appointment and then they call incessantly asking for me to confirm the appointment. Why? I made the appointment... so unless I call to cancel... assume I'll be there! If you're so worried about patients not showing up, then charge a "no show" fee. Stop harassing people to confirm. And it's not as if appoint times matter to them anyway. Plan to wait in the lobby for half an hour before you get to sit in their dental chair and wait ANOTHER half hour to be seen! Then they TEXT me a link to my bill. What? It looks like a spam text and I ignore it. First of all, I stop at the front desk after every visit to pay what I owe, and I'm always told it's covered. So if you want to surprise me with a bill afterwards because insurance didn't cover this or that, then send me a REAL bill in the MAIL. Don't text me a link to my bill. The dentist, Dr. Raff, was good. But he retired. The new dentist seems good too, but I only met her once; and I won't be meeting her again because of everyone else that works in that office. Total rip off. They did X rays and cleaning and charged me. I've never had to pay out of pocket for these. They then turned around a month later and charged my insurance company too for the same procedures except they added extra little details to make it seem different than what they charged me for but it was the exact same work. They are professionals at ripping off people and insurance companies. Also, I used my credit card to pay and a week later my card number was used to purchase items online in another state twice. Contrary to previous reviews my experience was stellar. The front desk staff was super helpful and made sure to answer all the questions I had. Sheba the hygienist assistant was super friendly and patient. Dr. Naz was outstanding and super informative, she did a through visual examination of my teeth and revealed information I was not otherwise aware of. The icing on the cake was the hygienist Devi, she's funny, helpful, packed with knowledge and entertaining all in one. Experiences are individual. And mine was superb! read more

I have know idea how any of these offices are allowed to do any kind of dental work on any patient. They can't even keep their own staff. They overcharge, all work at the facility that were to repair my teeth, made them worse! Today I went to an excellent practice, was advised that all the dental procedures that were performed on me were incomplete, everything has to be removed from my upper teeth due to their negligence. The three unit upper front teeth have become lose. Re-cementing is not an option! They failed in removing my original bridge and putting a new one in without any support other then the so called permanent cement. The cap they replaced on another tooth they failed to put in a new root even though they knew the one in my mouth was cracked which in turn I am losing the tooth! Stay Away!!!! I really wanted to like this place. It's a convenient location and they are part of my insurance plan. However, I was quite disappointed. The dentist and hygienist weren't rude or anything but they just didn't exude warmth, friendliness, or care. The exam was quick and the cleaning, disappointing. When the hygienist was flossing my teeth, she was so timid, I wanted to just pull the floss out of her hand and do it myself. I left the office unconfident that they had any interest in me or my dental health. My experience was "meh".... this isn't going to be my new dental care provider. The kicker was a month later when I found out that I'd have to pay FULL PRICE for the visit because I had exhausted my insurance plan visits for the fiscal year. Had this appointment been scheduled for 5 days later, it would have been covered in full! I don't know, but for an office that is part of my insurance plan, I expected that they would have run my insurance and TOLD ME THIS when I initially scheduled my appointment. *Scam Alert* Another negative dentistry experience. I made an apt here for only a cleaning with the hygienist not the dentist. I filled out all my paperwork beforehand so I wouldn't have to wait in the waiting room for a while. Well, that didn't matter. I was called in after 35 minutes of waiting, when they told me "you'll be called in a moment" when I first walked in. My time is valuable and I know Covid/staffing issues are present however I would have liked to be informed of a 35 minute wait for a simple teeth cleaning. Who expects to spend 2 hours in a dentist office for what should be a 30 minute cleaning? Now for the scamming part. I came here for a cleaning as I said, but when they sat me down they started talking about x-rays, dentist evaluation, etc. I explained that I had my yearly appointment with x rays and everything already this year at another dentist, and I explained again I only want/need a teeth cleaning at this time. They didn't care, they wanted my money and so they were trying to force me to get things done that were not needed. Why do I possibly need x-rays done for a cleaning when I had them done 4 months ago??? They kept offering me things that were not covered by my insurance. They refused to do my teeth cleaning alone without X-rays, etc!! They wanted more money from my insurance/ pocket. And reading from other reviews they clearly just do what they need to get your money. I ended up walking out without any services and will never step foot in a great expressions again; and don't recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

Avoid this practice. The office staff is some of the rudest professionals I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. I had scheduled my routine 6 month check-up at my last appointment. I received in the mail my appointment reminder a week prior to the appointment which was for the same date and time as I had on my personal calendar. Than came the rudest appointment reminder call I have ever experienced. The receptionist left a voicemail to call back immediately. When I called back she answered the phone with a, "What?", no hello, no name of the business. I stated I was calling back. She then inquired about "whether you plan on showing up or not on Monday." As I have never even been late or missed an appointment her tone and attitude was bizarre. This was followed by text message reminders over the weekend for the incorrect time. As I had lost all faith at this point in the office staff this did not surprise me and I was planning on coming in at the time that I had on my calendar. Now we arrive to why I will never be returning to Great Expressions. I arrived on time to an attitude filled receptionist that acted put out that I was checking in to my appointment. I waited for 15 minutes watching as the receptionist could not provide medical staff with patient paperwork. As a result the dental hygienists were taking patients not even knowing the patients name. 20 minutes after arriving on time for my appointment and watching the chaos of the receptionist I was called in to my appointment. Thus began one of the worst dental experiences of my life. The hygienist although pleasant told me that perhaps next time I should do a more thorough gum cleanse due to some inflammation and we would wait and see what it looked like next time. Her overall cleaning was not the gentle or well done experience I have always had previously at this practice. As my oral hygiene in my medical records comments that I have excellent hygiene there is no reason that a routine cleaning should be filled with a mouth full of blood and pain. Once my appointment was complete I then had the absolute joy of attempting to check out with the world's worst receptionist. She was still in absolute disarray of not being able to provide the hygienists with patient charts so they could take them. (Two patients in the waiting room so it was not overflowing.) As I have dental insurance I almost walked out after waiting almost 10 minutes to be checked out and should not have a co-pay. But this is where this practice really shines. The receptionist than brightly tells me that I owe $30. When I stated that I should not owe anything she tells me that the I had a gum cleaning treatment my insurance does not cover. As this was not agreed upon as part of my treatment plan this was insane. From the overall poor quality of the cleaning to then charging me for a treatment I had not agreed upon I will never be coming back to this practice. Rid yourself of the office staff and medical staff that are obviously unable to handle doing their jobs. I can only imagine the pain of getting my records to go to a different practice will bring. read more

I took my daughter to Great Expressions Dental Center located in Lynbrook NY on Merrick Road. She was seen as an emergency case. The entire staff was very nice especially Susan the receptionist. My daughters condition was carefully evaluated and treatment was recommended. I was extremely pleased with the quality of care provided at the Lynbrook office. Dr. Raff has been our dentist for a number of years and we always feel comfortable being seen by him. After the visit Susan the receptionist was extremely helpful processing the paperwork/payment/insurance. I have been to more than one Great Expressions Dental Center and the Lynbrook office located on Merrick Road has proven to be the best experience. read more

The dentists and dental hygienists are great but the assistants and front desk staff are unprofessional. I've been coming here for a few years and dealing with the lack of professionalism because they were a local business. Now I've had enough. Recently, a new dentist joined their establishment (he's lovely) but after a routine visit, I got a bill in the mail; the new dentist did not take my insurance. This establishment encourages you to make appointments 6 months in advance and you are not able to choose your dentist. These folks just don't have their act together. And when I called them to discuss the bill, the front-desk staff acted as though they were offended. Don't bother with this place. read more

I would highly recommend this office. Dr. Raff and his staff are outstanding. The receptionists are very friendly. I've never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen. I've had a few emergencies and they've always made sure to fit me in. Dr. Raff is very gentle and honest. He will take his time to discuss issues and answer questions. He doesn't push unnecessary work to be done. My husband and I are both very happy with our experience here. read more

I have been coming to Great Expressions for the last 3 years. Today, I had the worst experience with this office. I had a 9am appointment for fillings for my daughter. It is now 11:30am and we are still waiting to see the dentist. I have not received an apology for the delay. I asked the receptionist about the reason for the delay and she said that I had two appointments, which by the way I wasn't aware of. Even if I was given two appointments, the dentist was still LATE. The last appointment we had, we were told to schedule a follow up appointment because my daughter had too many cavities to fill and her appointment would run into the appointment time of other patients. So they filled two cavities and the other one was rescheduled. Now, we are being told that someone else's emergency is delaying my child's appointment. Very unprofessional in my opinion since I was required to reschedule but other patients were not. read more

The dentists are nice but for some reason i have a feeling this office just charges to get your money for services that aren't required. They need a new receptionist asap! The office and staff are very professional. And the dentist is very nice, knows his work. He do not rush his work with his patient. He takes care of one patient at a time. As compared to other dentist that lives you in the chair run over to one patient and runs back to you. Not as expensive as my last dentist. I highly recommend Great Expressions Dental in Lynbrook NY. I rate this 1 star, but they don't deserve it. After the first meeting (x-rays and consultation) which cost me $286 I was told that only $25K will save my lower jaw (which is not true). So we scheduled another appointment. A couple of days later they called and rescheduled it. On the appointed day they called again informing me that I have to be there not at 5:30, but at 4. I drop everything, driving as fast as I can in order to be on time arrive at the office and wait for about an hour. Then the doctor Lazarus tells me that he's not a general dentist but Periodontist. I ask him if he can put at least temporary filling in my tooth (actual purpose of the appointment) he says NO, but he can assess the issues with my gums. I told him I already have with the different doctor on the previous appointment and right now I need a help ASAP. He says Ok, I'll do it and leaves. After waiting for another 15-20 mins his assistant tells me that ha's not going to do it. He changed his mind. I find it highly unprofessional and quite frankly humiliating.
