This is my favorite antique mall. I travel almost 2 hrs just to go here! Highly recommend going. Great people and some great prices!

I love this antique mall! There is an excellent variety of merchandise-- antique, mid-century, and newer vintage. I never leave empty handed. I find the prices to be quite reasonable for the majority of the booths. It's conveniently located just off the interstate, so it makes for a great pit stop if you're traveling along I-94. I usually spend at least an hour browsing. Bonus- they're always playing good music! Definitely worth a stop. read more

Booth space rental makes for a huge variation of items and prices. This is preferred over a one owner shop who purchases what they like and controls the sales and prices. I always leave with many items when I shop here. read more

Great Lakes Antique Mall is a fairly large store. It looks to occupy an old grocery store. Inside are about 100 + booths of antiques. If you are into antique stores, you know the drill. Each booth is run by a different person and has different types of merchandise. Some people specialize in furniture, toys, old political buttons, postcards, jewelry while most have a hodge-podge of items from different decades, time periods, and of varying quality. The first time I visited Great Lakes was Fall 2008. Most recently I stopped in Winter 2009. There has been a slight turnover in vendors during that time. They used to have an awesome booth of all postcards, but it is gone now. When I was last at Great Lakes there were approximately 5 empty (or transistioning) booths. Prices range here from $2 (a postcard or old photo) to $795 (a couch from the 1930s). Most of the vendors are reasonably priced. Some will wheel and deal. Many have sales going on. They usually also have some holiday stuff out as well. In Fall, there was vintage Halloween decorations for sale. This Winter I saw some kitschy Easter bunnies. One of my favorite booths is all vintage books. I went looking for a specific book, but didn't find it. I was also looking to replace the Gertie & ET cup from Pizza Hut I broke recently. I didn't find that either. Most of the antiques are pre-1970s. Even if I didn't find what I was looking for there is still a good selection. Most dealers will take requests and the employees are very friendly. The best thing about Great Lakes is that it is located right off I-94 at the Coloma exit. You can see it when you get off the expressway and head into town (behind the McDonald's) I like to stop when I have time driving between Detroit and Chicago. Sales tax is relatively cheap in Michigan as well. Great Lakes is open 7 days a week and accepts credit cards and (believe it or not) personal checks. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. All booths are reasonably priced, clean, and organized. I came with a friend expecting to spend about an hour, but we ended up calling it quits the first day after 2.5 hours and lots of great finds. We came back the next day to browse what we missed, and found even more. The staff is great too. read more

Large consignment style antiques shop, lots of good choices, easy parking, good location if you're on a trip passing through. For a historian friend, I found some antique beer glasses with long defunct brands (he's a collector), and a Life magazine from his birthday in pristine condition (you younger Yelpers might not remember physical hardcopy news magazines, it's how we got informed before Twitter). For another friend I got some real Shinola that's actually older than me, because I want this friend to know the difference between this and you know what. The Chief of Staff found some sheet music for us to play (younger Yelpers, before MP3 files, we used to have to play our own music, so if our parents liked a song, they would get the sheet music, gather around the piano, and sing with their own voices). The workers here are pleasant and helpful, tolerated my annoying sense of humor well, wrapped our more delicate purchases effectively. read more

This place is a treasure! More than 100 booths in a large, well-lit building, the merchandise is clean and pretty well-organized. From coins to credenzas there's something for everyone i'm sure. I went in looking for something specific and the helpful staff bandied it about until they took me to one of what I collect.(I won't tell you what that is.....) They have huge parking and can do lay-away. Free popcorn was a plus. They often have sales and in the summer a monthly flea market. read more

The merchants are GREAT! Great, clean, sturdy items with a selection which rotates, in some cases, on a weekly, if not daily, basis! On Monday I met two marvelous ladies who were running the front desk. My kids and I spent several hundred dollars on fun stuff - like a child's piano, dress up clothes from times past, a sweet hardwood garbage can with a brass foot pedal. (Today, however, I went back and this man, who seems to be the manager, was there and he was terribly rude/abrupt - so much that I walked away without buying so much as a gumball for my girls, and, though I am sad for the merchant, I didn't buy the $500 table and chair set I was looking at. So, I guess Mondays are five star, but Thursdays are a flat zero.) read more

I reviewed this antiques mall over a year ago, when it was a favorite destination of my husband's and mine. Have to say it's still a good place to go, but has undergone some sad changes. It seems they're losing a lot of their good dealers, one who had a huge booth with a lot of antique dolls and miscellaneous antiques left at the beginning of this year, and a couple who had several booths told us they were pulling out. We're seeing other empty booths here now, too. Some of the new dealers who've come in recently or over the past year have brought modern stuff like I'd expect to see at TJ Maxx. We aren't going as often as we used to due to the change in inventory as well as missing some of the really nice people who used to be dealers here or work here that we enjoyed seeing while we were shopping. read more

I love going to the Great Lake Antique Mall. It is huge!!! They have a little of everything. There is always new stuff every time I go. There are a ton of different booths. Most of them are reasonably priced. Make sure to plan to be there for awhile if you go. There is SO much to look through. read more
