I spoke to Jenison Psychological Services multiple times trying to get services started. They were…read morenot a preferred provider on my insurance, so it took several conversations to arrange for a payer agreement. Through the entire process the office manager indicated we were moving forward. Then once the agreement was finalized, I received a call from the office manager that all the therapists were full, and that I could not be seen. This sounded odd, so I called the owner and left a message asking to speak to him. Soon after the office manager called back and admitted they simply did not want to do the agreement with my insurance. The entire process wasted my time and was very disrespectful. I also never heard back from the owner. I certainly would not recommend them.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this counseling center due to an extremely poor experience our…read morefamily had with them. While I am sure their intentions are good, their approach was very damaging to an already strained relationship, and we personally feel that they did not use a true biblical approach which was disappointing. In the conversation one party had to sit silently and accept the accusations from the other party, causing extremely pain and hurt, this party was not allowed to provide any context. In Gensis 3, when God confronted Adam and Eve, he already knew the sin BUT he still asked Where are you and Who told you that you were naked, and he asked if they ate of the tree. He did not come straight out and accuse; he gave them an opportunity to state. Sometime an offended person thinks they were wronged, and if you go to straight accusation, it does nothing to heal the relationship, it only divides. We were never allowed to explain our side, and we had to just accept the accusations. The failure to follow Gods example in confrontation caused an already wedged to just be further driven and further divide our family. This was then coupled with a miss communication on a follow up appointment where we should up 20 min late (thinking we were early) and the counselor dismissed the other party and they were gone when we arrived. He showed zero value in trying to understand why we were late, he did not even bother to call to see if we had been in an accident.

Their work ethic and efficiency are top-tier, and my daughter has improved her social skills in many ways. Thanks to the routine, structure, and dependable nature of their program, they were able to create a system that my daughter knew and could trust. I can't say enough good things about Lighthouse. They work extremely hard for every family, so if you are looking for a spot for your kid, don't hesitate. Every child is treated like an individual, not just a number, and that makes all of the difference. This is the place to be.
