This is a beautifully maintained nature preserve with walking paths, trails, kayaking/water…read moreboarding, and a picnic area. There is no cost to visit here and it is usually quiet. The flat trail is stroller friendly, very scenic with plenty of benches and picnic tables for resting and eating. There are trails (one which apparently leads to a beautiful waterfall) but not able to access with a stroller. Bring your own trash bag to take with you as there are no garbage cans. You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself. The views of the water were gorgeous, and the boys enjoyed throwing rocks into the water and watching other people kayak and water board. You can bring your own kayak or rent one in the summer. CJ loved the little houses made of sticks all over the preserve. They are a great opportunity for pretend play. Will go back? There's something about this place The views were beautiful, the preserve itself was so clean and well maintained, and plenty to do with the kids!

They off canoe/kayak rentals. I also saw people bringing their own. Right now, half the parking lot is closed due to COVID-19. They do have more parking up the road though. There's a ton of well placed benches by super scenic areas. To be fair, the whole area is scenic. It really is a beautiful walk. Perfect for pups too. I've only been here during the week and it hasn't been too crowded. I can imagine weekends get a little more packed but everyone had masks and were being great about distancing. The area around the reserve is beautiful too. There's also a great grocery shop right down the road, make it a day with a hike and some fresh lunch.

The parking lot is big and there is a bathroom, which is appreciated. I took a look at the trail map before I left to find one of a decent length, so check out options, but the trails are well-marked. Once you get past the main train next to the lake, you can find yourself pretty alone except for another occasional hiker, but you can vibe with nature, see a waterfall, and just breathe in the fresh air. Some of the trails are long, but I paced one that was only a couple of miles and still got some nice scenery and a lot of steps in. It's great this park isn't too far from the urban areas of Northern NJ and there are many trail options so you can visit again and experience something new. There's also a sign for trout fishing if that's your thing. Check it out if you want to get away for the day.

There's a large parking area with lots of parking space which is a convenient. When you come into the reserve it's off of the highway. The an entrance which is one way in and then the exit on the opposite end of the lot which is one way out. The only drawback from me was that there were a number of people in the park with their dogs unleashed and the dog should be leashed . Which makes it difficult and unnerving for a runner to see a dog come out and not see the owner close by.

5/15/26 (Update) Laurelwood Arboretum is even more beautiful than ever…read more The Sensory Garden has been added. A definite "must see and feel" garden! Beautiful fuchsia colored Rhododendron grow throughout the gardens. Have noticed that there's a lot of fencing around the newer flora and plants. Most likely to keep the deer away from the plants. Many new benches have been added throughout the Arboretum. They're beautifully crafted from trees. Inside the welcome center there was nature photography on sale. Best to wear comfortable shoes. The walking area is somewhat hilly. The Arboretum is free. Donations are always welcome. The Arboretum does have two parking areas.

It's a nice little park that has all the amenities you would like expect; basketball courts, tennis courts, pavilion, jungle gym, bathrooms, and baseball fields. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the park and the trail. The trail has a few options to walk around a lake, go to "DuPont land" (DuPont used to be in this area, contaminated the land and water years ago), and the top of then mountain. Following the trail to the top of the mountain was easy enough. The view of the reservoir was beautiful! I couldn't help but explore the woods and found some very strange things. I found an abandoned bus, car and a few large appliances. There were a few spots where I could see that people go to drink. I cleaned up their trash. Beer cans are lighter on the way out, I have no respect for anybody who would leave trash in the woods like that. If you are like me and take a hike so you can relax, but then are pissed when you see litter, than this beautiful trail will surely piss you off. Please bring a bag or 2 so you can carry out some of the trash. Thank you.

This is easily the worst dog park in Passaic County, entirely due to the ground surface. Who came up with this idea? It's a nice park. It's conveniently located. It has tremendous potential! There are nice facilities, umbrellas for sun shelter, a doggie water fountain, etc. But the dogs just cannot run around comfortably on gravel. This is just parks planning gone wrong, likely conceived by someone who doesn't have dogs.

*Playground review!*…read more This one is a good one, y'all. It's definitely on the newer side and is a decent size for a bunch of kids to run & play. The brightly colored slides, tunnels, swings can be seen from Black Oak Ridge Rd. so it's hard to avoid when cruising the nighborhood -- I speak from experience! :-P There's a couple different structures -- one for smaller kids (1-3yo, I think) and one for older/bigger kids. My son has a blast climbing up the tunnels and down the slides every time we visit this playground. Note: the parking lot is a good size... but fills up quickly as it shares the lot w/ the dog park... and there's really no street parking along the park as it's a pretty active intersection.

This is a nice smaller park located upon Garamound. They have a pond a big walking area they even…read morehave a skate park, Which not many parts have. There is even a water park if you want to call it that that little kids can play in in the summertime. In fact the Waterpark part of it is just closed for the fall,winter whatever you want to call it. There are two small parking lots at the top which seem to have enough spaces most of the time for visitors. There are several areas with picnic tables that you can eat her which is very nice. And they have a field. Many people don't know that if you walk around the back of the pond and follow the trail up into the woods there are even more picnic tables And if you go up even higher there are actually tennis courts up on top that you can access also from another road on top if you don't feel like walking that much. The pond is not the cleanest however and I really could use a little more maintenance on the area.
