Ever feel yourself longing for a break from the busy bustle of the city and an escape to the lake district or northern coast? Great Scottish knitwear will certainly give you that desire.
It does not have a large sign displaying its name above the entrance, or a sign board outside the shop, but you can notice it from the sea green paneled exterior and large glass pane windows. The front window holds a display of gloves, scarfs, shawls, and jumpers folded on stools standing in pebbles. Small boards with the shop name are held up on painted white metal poles with rope hanging down from them, creating a northern coastal theme.
Inside feels fresh and airy with light sanded floor boards, white painted walls, and pieces of driftwood are used as hanging wall displays. Gentle acoustic music plays adding to the soft and soothing atmosphere.
The knitwear they sell is very high quality wool and so not cheap (some of the mens jumpers are between £65-75). However there are affordable items such as cashmere gloves for £15 or angora scarfs for £22. When I went there was also a special offer on lambs wool scarfs for £10 each or 3 for £25.
As I perused the shop it sent me yearning for a stay in a cottage in the Scottish Highlands. But with an item from this place you can do the next best thing and bring a touch of the beautiful northern lands to the city. read more
