Terry the branch manager helped me open a new checking account, and he made it so easy and he explained everything to me in a very straightforward and easy-to-understand way. He was very pleasant and even though I was only depositing a small amount, he made feel like a equal and valued customer... When I had problems with the mobile app, teller Candace and her supervisor Tabitha patiently assisted me and after quite a bit of "detective work", they were able to solve my problem. I am 100% satisfied with this bank so far, and the staff at this location are top notch! read more

The teller was very helpful and the bank management also helped with a possible fraud situation to shut an account down. They were so helpful and understanding. Made an appointment to open a new checking account...got there 4 minutes early and took a steeat...9 people in teller line...3 over worked tellers...17 minutes after my appointment was to start, staff asked if I had been helped...advised that I was the 230pm appointment...she said she would be with me in 10 minutes...older classy lady in the line up decides to leave since she is tired of waiting in line...i wait 5 more minutes and realize the lady that was going to help me is now working a teller window..! so if she's going to help me at new accounts, it means all these people in the line up (going on 22 minutes!) would have to wait even longer with one less teller available to them...a terribe way to treat people..I walked out and will never walk in a gncu branch again... read more

You might want to consider a different source for your banking needs. Our account was hacked for a significant amount of money (24 transactions within a couple of hours). We never received a phone call from the fraud department. We only recognized the fraud when we went online to check a payment in our account. When realizing that there was fraud we immediately called the bank fraud department unfortunately it was after hours and we would have to wait throughout the weekend for some type of reconciliation. Come Monday the bank fraud department never called!!! After trying repeatedly to reach someone (which is a problem with this bank because you can be on hold for hours!) we finally reached someone and while explaining the issue was hung up on! No one ever reached out after taking the matter directly to the branch! Out of frustration and lack of consideration we closed our HSA and transferred the $$ to a different provider. The check was sent to the wrong address and returned to GNCU in September! GNCU never bothered to look at the paperwork to identify who the money belonged to and has been holding it in their accounts until who knows when!! Well today we finally figured out the problem and the funds will be resent. This credit union has zero customer service. Have a problem, good luck on getting anyone to resolve it! If I could give a ZERO rating I would! I made a mistake and deposited a bad check. I did not know it was bad. This brought my balance below zero. I made a large deposit from a State of Nevada savings account to cover it. because my account was below zero, they have decided to place a hold on my check for ten additional days. now all my payments are bouncing! My utilities will be turned off soon and my bill pay thru them has been cancelled. Talk about rude and unimaginable treatment for someone who has banked with them for 37 years! So apparently GNCU doesn't really do business over the phone. Over 2 months ago THEY sent me a letter notifying me there might be a problem with one of my debit cards. If I didn't respond one card would be canceled. I did call, no one knew anything about it. Person I spoke to assured me I would get a call back in "1-2 business days". Five weeks later no call, shocker. I called again about this issue and asked about closing a checking account. Again assured mI would receive a call in 1-2 business days. Three days later no phone call. Monday I get go down to the branch and try to straighten this out which I was trying to avoid. I'm totally frustrated and annoyed. This is an update, went into N. Carson branch to try and straighten out my checking accounts. The young ladies who helped me were SUPER helpful, efficient and very helpful. They got everything all worked out in about 5 minutes. Could not have gone any better. I feel much better about GNCU now. read more

One star is probably still too much. I finally had enough. I don't interact a lot with GNCU but when I do it is always a bad experience. Wanted to move some of my money in saving to a CD, applied for it on-line, however, I was denied because they were not able to verify my identity. I guess the password, security question, and a code sent to my phone is not enough.... If a bank is not able to even trust their own security measures, I better pull out my money, which I did and I closed my account. I thought it would be nice to have an account at a 'local' financial institution, but never again. B of A didn't give me any trouble at all when I opened a CD account on-line. read more

Warning! This bank has hidden fees and will take money out of your account without any notice. The online interface is terrible to work with. We had a checking account and a money market account. $15 per month for the checking and $10 per month for the money market. I transferred all the money from the money market account and canceled it online. They kept it open without my knowledge so it would build up overdraft fees, $100 worth!, then they suddenly and without warning, snagged the money out of the checking account to cover these hidden and unauthorized fees. I immediately closed the checking account which still had $300 in it. They have not attempted to return our money or make any contact about it. My husband will be going down to the branch to confront them... We'll see what happens. read more

If you try to use your card at Sam's Club, they will CLOSE your debit card! The reason I was given by customer service is that Sam's Club has a high amount of fraudulent activity. Are you KIDDING me?? Closing my account with GNCU today. read more

Greater Nevada Credit Union is a fraud! They raised my family's FIXED mortgage rate after 13 months even though we signed a contract that said it can't be raised for 5 years. We tried to call to correct this error and they just told us that we have to keep paying cause they don't meet until August. We have limited money so paying anything extra only works if we stop eating. This company needs to fix this. I have tried to find the contact information for someone on the board of directors since I can't seem to get any help with anyone else and they are no where to be found. DONT INVEST WITH GREATER NEVADA CREDIT UNION!! You will regret it. read more

I have 4 accounts with 4 different banks. This one under-performs them all- what happened to great customer service at credit unions? 1. They can't find my account using my SS# and cannot verify that they even have my correct SS#. That's worrisome. Their answer: we'll get back to you in the next day or so when our "account manager has time." City National gives me a personal banker with a name to call any time - and I keep very little in that account! I keep enough $ in my checking at GN CU and dutifully use my ATM the required 18+ times to avoid the $15 monthly charge. OOPS - they charge me anyway. Another 30 minute phone call TO the branch- can't help me. After a lengthy dialogue, repeating my SS# (which she cannot find),my acct #, mothers name etc TWICE, they cannot help me. I must wait until an "account specialist" has time to call me back. In the next day or so. Unacceptable on all levels. Update: Shortly after my first review, I received a message from, "Kristina K," expressing contrition for my experience. She claimed to want to rectify the situation but did not leave any contact info. Instead, she wanted my info and GNCU would contact me on GNCU's terms. That's not how customer service works. Fast forward two months, silly me, I thought I would try again. This time, I figured if I called ahead and made an appointment, they couldn't ignore me. Guess again, they beat me to the punch. There was no easy way to find a branch phone number. The only number listed dumps you to a general call center. I was on hold for five minutes just waiting to speak to someone at a branch, for crying out loud. When a call center rep finally picked up, it took her another 3-5 minutes to try and figure out how to address my simple request to speak to someone at a branch. Finally, she tells me that she'll do it, but they're probably too busy to help me. This is a big red flag: I'm talking to an employee who knows her organization's customer service is reprehensible, and she feels perfectly okay with that, expressing zero interest in correcting the situation. Sure enough, my re-routed call gets re-re-routed back into the hold queue that had me waiting 5 minutes on hold to talk to someone who was neither capable nor interested in helping me. Greater Nevada Credit Union has institutionalized poor customer service and made it central to who they are. read more

I have a loan here that I have had for a couple years now and I always have the hardest time making my monthly payments since I have moved out of state. I used to be able to call over the phone and give them my card information but over time they have changed their phone prompts and procedures for over the phone payments. Now they want to charge $7 for a transaction fee to pay over the phone but they won't ever give me my account and member number because I'm not the main account holder even though it's my car and I'm making the payments for it. I have waited on hold for over 30 minutes to be told I can now make my payments online.... But I have to have my husband call them and be on hold so he can get the member number so I can then make the payments... I can't wait to have this payed off so I don't have to deal with them anymore. It's the worst , I just want to pay my bill and move on with it it should not be so difficult to take my money LOL ! read more

I posted a review about the Eagle Station GNCU and how horrible the service was and received a call today from Rick who is a manager at GNCU's North Carson Branch. He was very professional and offered solutions to my issues and was sensitive of my feelings. I plan on using his branch and I hope the management at the Eagle Station Branch take a serious look at what's going on there because someone like Rick would have kept the problem from happening in the first place. People like Rick are why I have used GNCU for so long. read more

Got a call from Sara who was very concerned about my review and wanted to help. We discussed all the unhappy transactions that have happened to me and she is rectifying all of it. She apologized for the mishaps with my payments and offered me several different options to make things smoother. She's also crediting me back all the "late" fees that I was originally told could not be refunded. I must say, this was customer service at it's best this morning. I am very willing to give this credit union another try with an open mind. Great job! read more
