I am reluctant to write this review for Green Garden & Handyman because I want to keep them my secret. They are THAT good. I have a one acre property that had been sadly neglected when I bought this house. It was an overgrown, Chinese elm-infested sticker patch with a beautiful view. I am not a yard work person and I knew that even if I were, this was way beyond my capabilities. 1. Jeronimo actually answered his phone, something none of the other landscape/irrigation companies did (and of the messages I left, NONE called me back (ah, Santa Fe, I still love you...) 2. Jeronimo came by the same day I called to assess the job and gave me a price on the spot. At first I thought, "YIKES! that's a lot of money!" But I agreed to it because it needed to be done. I am from California and I am all too aware of the fire hazard of this kind of foliage, having just watched my house nearly burn down from a wildfire. 3. A week later, on the agreed date, at the agreed time, Jeronimo and his crew showed up ready to tackle my unruly acre. For the next 3 full days, there was a crew of 3-5 men on my property working their hearts out. The men were polite, courteous and super-hardworking. I lost count of the trailer's full of dump-bound refuse after about 6. I watched this place transform into the gorgeous property it should be. 4. Jeronimo and his men didn't just come in and slash away at things. Jeronimo has the knowledge of a serious arborist and as his men worked their way through the meadow section, they left the clumps of wildflowers standing and cut limbs off trees in a way that will promote healthy future growth. They all have knowledge of the landscape and plants they are working with and are sensitive to the needs of the ecology of the space -- just like a fancy landscape architect would be. By the end of the first day, I could see how much actual work my place would be and I realized that the price was absolutely fair. 5. Jeronimo is helping me work out a phased plan for my acre that will include rehabilitating the irrigation system and planting fruit trees and installing critter proof raised beds along with rock work. He is a knowledgable man and seems to know that everyone should walk away happy. I HIGHLY recommend Green Garden, even though I'd like to keep them as my own secret weapon. read more

Jeronimo and his team are heads and shoulders above your average landscaping crew. They're professional, reliable, and go the extra mile to make sure your end result is even better than you expected. They're also extremely detail-oriented about doing quality work. Our across-the-street neighbor referred us to them when we moved into our house, and we're so glad she did! We needed a retaining wall and expected Jeronimo's crew to just stack some rocks along the edge of our yard, but they put extra effort into ensuring the wall was properly leveled and placed, selected the best rocks for each placement, then made precision cuts in every rock to build a strong, securely stacked, and really beautiful wall. They went above and beyond to do quality work when they really didn't have to--we didn't expect it and honestly wouldn't have known the difference, but now we know we have a solid retaining wall that will stand up to the elements, won't need to be rebuilt in a year, and looks amazing. We even get compliments on it from neighbors (really)! We ended up feeling like the price--which seemed fair to begin with--was the deal of the century. Jeronimo's crew is also great about using high-quality materials to do their landscaping work. For example, when weed block is needed, they use the heavy-duty good stuff--none of that cheap, papery crap that weeds rip right through. And most importantly (to me), they're just a great group of guys. If you're going to have people traipsing through your yard day after day for a week or more, it really helps for them to be friendly, funny, and considerate. Geronimo is very responsive to phone calls, and friendly. He also speaks good English. I felt that the quote he gave me for cleaning up my yard was way over priced. I had him bring in gravel and do some landscaping and irrigation, along with building a coyote fence. He had to come back 3x to get the coyote fence right and it's still off. I wouldn't have them come again because I felt the price was too high. I'll overlook things if the price is right but I paid $8000 for an average job! read more

Jeronimo and the team at Green Garden and Handyman created a completely new hardscape for my frontyard. They added moss rock retaining wall, flagstone pathways, new gravel for the xeriscaped yard and planted some great trees. Green Garden And Handyman is the BEST! Jeronimo and his team are the most prompt, professional, reliable and hard working crew I've ever encountered in Santa Fe. We are retired teachers in our 60's and could no longer keep up with the maintenance of our yard. These past rains had caused so much erosion that the ditches my husband dug were no longer adequate. In only 2 days of hard labor, they completed the front and backyards with new railroad ties, 10 tons of river rock, all natural bark chips and a lovely new flower bed with wonderful soil for my plantings. Thanks to the crew (who were all incredibly friendly and good natured) and to Jeronimo who worked along with them and made sure the job was to my satisfaction.
