I am fortunate to have navigated the process successfully, and I have witnessed the difference between other statewide operations and Compassionate Alternative Care. When I first certified with another physician group last year, I had to call and email them multiple times for each step of the process: confirmation of medical records receipt, confirmation of appointment, confirmation of payment, and confirmation of addition to the state registry. In addition, I had to call multiple times for various questions with an average turnaround time of 4 days. Enter Compassionate Alternative Care. The owner, Daniel, is not only the owner but also a patient, so he understands how impersonal and confusing the process can be. Even though more than 70 percent of voters approved the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes, we as a society still perpetuate stigmas. Daniel shines because he adds the human element--with an affable, welcoming touch--to the process. He is accessible through email, voice, and text, and he avails himself to the extent each patient requires him. Daniel is quick to answer questions and assuage fears. He does not rush patients into making decisions; instead, he provides as much information so that patients can make their own informed decisions. You can tell the level of dedication to both his patients and the state for compliance. Once Daniel and the patient reach the conclusion that it is time to be evaluated for a recommendation, the patient then sees a certified doctor. The doctor streamlines the process so that patients are not left to wait unnecessarily. The doctor is attuned to the program's requirements and does the magic doctors do. "Compassionate" is more than the first word of this practice's name. It serves as the foundational value of the owner, the doctors, and, ultimately, the patients.

I was really taken aback by their decision to not do what was in the best interest of their patients. I had been a patient there long before medical cannabis became a treatment option in Florida and have spent thousands of $$$ on different treatments for my chronic back issues. It was disturbing to me that my old physician's office would not even consider it on a case by case basis, after all that is what was the intent. To provide a route of administration that would work best for the patient's needs. Once I contacted Dan at Compassionate Alternative Care he immediately understood my perspective and told me that he'd be happy to take over managing my MMJ card. The process was quick and Dan was really helpful and responsive when it came to getting me in to see the doctor quickly and making sure I had exactly what I needed. I like the fact that I can contact Dan directly on his mobile phone if there is something I need in relation to my pain management. That was always a struggle at my previous pain management facility. Contacting the doctor there meant a series of phone calls and voicemails, followed by more of the same until finally they were able to confirm to me any needed changes. We utilized the Doxy.me platform to do the interview which was an entirely new experience for me; however, it will be my preferred method for conducting any medical appointments that I can in the future.
